1 Symeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of equal value to ours through the righteousness of our God and savior Jesus Christ:	1 Simón Pedro, servidor y Apóstol de Jesucristo, saluda a todos aquellos que, por la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo, han recibido una fe tan preciosa como la nuestra.
2 may grace and peace be yours in abundance through knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.	2 Lleguen a ustedes la gracia y la paz en abundancia, por medio del conocimiento de Dios y de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.
3 His divine power has bestowed on us everything that makes for life and devotion, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and power.	3 Su poder divino, en efecto, nos ha concedido gratuitamente todo lo necesario para la vida y la piedad, haciéndonos conocer a aquel que nos llamó por la fuerza de su propia gloria.
4 Through these, he has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divinenature, after escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire.	4 Gracias a ella, se nos han concedido las más grandes y valiosas promesas, a fin de que ustedes lleguen a participar de la naturaleza divina, sustrayéndose a la corrupción que reina en el mundo a causa de la concupiscencia.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, virtue with knowledge,	5 Por esta misma razón, pongan todo el empeño posible en unir a la fe, la virtud; a la virtud, el conocimiento;

10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to make your calland election firm, for, in doing so, you will never stumble.	10 Por eso, hermanos, procuren consolidar cada vez más el llamado y la elección de que han sido objeto: si obran así, no caerán jamás
11 For, in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.	11 y se les abrirán ampliamente las puertas del Reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.
12 Therefore, I will always remind you of these things, even though you already know them and are established in the truth you have.	12 Por eso yo les recordaré siempre estas cosas, aunque ustedes ya las saben y están bien convencidos de la verdad que ahora poseen.
13 I think it right, as long as I am in this "tent," to stir you up by a reminder,	13 Me parece justo que los mantenga despiertos, recordándoles esto mientras yo viva en esta tienda de campaña
14 since I know that I will soon have to put it aside, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me.	14 porque sé que muy pronto tendré que dejarla, como me lo ha hecho saber nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
15 I shall also make every effort to enable you always to remember these things after my departure.	15 Y haré todo lo posible a fin de que, después de mi partida, ustedes se acuerden siempre de estas cosas.
16 We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.	16 Porque no les hicimos conocer el poder y la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo basados en fábulas ingeniosamente inventadas, sino como testigos oculares de su grandeza.
17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory, "This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased."	17 En efecto, él recibió de Dios Padre el honor y la gloria, cuando la Gloria llena de majestad le dirigió esta palabra: «Este es mi Hijo muy querido, en quien tengo puesta mi predilección».

19 Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable. You will do well to be attentive to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.	19 Así hemos visto confirmada la palabra de los profetas, y ustedes hacen bien en prestar atención a ella, como a una lámpara que brilla en un lugar oscuro hasta que despunte el día y aparezca el lucero de la mañana en sus corazones.
20 Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation,	20 Pero tengan presente, ante todo, que nadie puede interpretar por cuenta propia una profecía de la Escritura.
21 for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.	21 Porque ninguna profecía ha sido anunciada por voluntad humana, sino que los hombres han hablado de parte de Dios, impulsados por el Espíritu Santo.
