1 while Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.	1 Mas Jesús se fue al monte de los Olivos.
2 But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to him, and he sat down and taught them.	2 Pero de madrugada se presentó otra vez en el Templo, y todo el pueblo acudía a él. Entonces se sentó y se puso a enseñarles.
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made her stand in the middle.	3 Los escribas y fariseos le llevan una mujer sorprendida en adulterio, la ponen en medio
4 They said to him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.	4 y le dicen: «Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante adulterio.
5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?"	5 Moisés nos mandó en la Ley apedrear a estas mujeres. ¿Tú qué dices?»
6 They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger.	6 Esto lo decían para tentarle, para tener de qué acuasarle. Pero Jesús, inclinándose, se puso a escribir con el dedo en la tierra.
7 But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."	7 Pero, como ellos insistían en preguntarle, se incorporó y les dijo: «Aquel de vosotros que esté sin pecado, que le arroje la primera piedra».
8 Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.	8 E inclinándose de nuevo, escribía en la tierra.
9 And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him.	9 Ellos, al oír estas palabras, se iban retirando uno tras otro, comenzando por los más viejos; y se quedó solo Jesús con la mujer, que seguía en medio.
10 Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"	10 Incorporándose Jesús le dijo: «Mujer, ¿dónde están? ¿Nadie te ha condenado?»
11 She replied, "No one, sir." Then Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, (and) from now on do not sin any more."	11 Ella respondió: «Nadie, Señor». Jesús le dijo: «Tampoco yo te condeno. Vete, y en adelante no peques más».
12 Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."	12 Jesús les habló otra vez diciendo: «Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me siga no caminará en la oscuridad, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida».
13 So the Pharisees said to him, "You testify on your own behalf, so your testimony cannot be verified."	13 Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale».
14 Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I do testify on my own behalf, my testimony can be verified, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going.	14 Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo dé testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio vale, porque sé de dónde he venido y a dónde voy; pero vosotros no sabéis de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy.
15 You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone.	15 Vosotros juzgáis según la carne; yo no juzgo a nadie;
16 And even if I should judge, my judgment is valid, because I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me.	16 y si juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no estoy yo solo, sino yo y el que me ha enviado.
17 Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two men can be verified.	17 Y en vuestra Ley está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido.
18 I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me."	18 Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo y también el que me ha enviado, el Padre, da testimonio de mí».
19 So they said to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."	19 Entonces le decían: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?» Respondió Jesús: «No me conocéis ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocierais a mí, conoceríais también a mi Padre».
20 He spoke these words while teaching in the treasury in the temple area. But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.	20 Estas palabras las pronunció en el Tesoro, mientras enseñaba en el Templo. Y nadie le prendió, porque aún no había llegado su hora.
21 He said to them again, "I am going away and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going you cannot come."	21 Jesús les dijo otra vez: «Yo me voy y vosotros me buscaréis, y moriréis en vuestro pecado. Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir».
22 So the Jews said, "He is not going to kill himself, is he, because he said, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?"	22 Los judíos se decían: «¿Es que se va a suicidar, pues dice: “Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir?»
23 He said to them, "You belong to what is below, I belong to what is above. You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world.	23 El les decía: «Vosotros sois de abajo, yo soy de arriba. Vosotros sois de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.
24 That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."	24 Ya os he dicho que moriréis en vuestros pecados, porque si no creéis que Yo Soy, moriréis en vuestros pecados».
25 So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning.	25 Entonces le decían: «¿Quién eres tú?» Jesús les respondió: «Desde el principio, lo que os estoy diciendo.
26 I have much to say about you in condemnation. But the one who sent me is true, and what I heard from him I tell the world."	26 Mucho podría hablar de vosotros y juzgar pero el que me ha enviado es veraz, y lo que le he oído a él es lo que hablo al mundo».
27 They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father.	27 No comprendieron que les hablaba del Padre.
28 So Jesus said (to them), "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me.	28 Les dijo, pues, Jesús: «Cuando hayáis levantado al Hijo del hombre, entonces sabréis que Yo Soy, y que no hago nada por mi propia cuenta; sino que, lo que el Padre me ha enseñado, eso es lo que hablo.
29 The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him."	29 Y el que me ha enviado está conmigo: no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que le agrada a él».
30 Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him.	30 Al hablar así, muchos creyeron en él.
31 Jesus then said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,	31 Decía, pues, Jesús a los judíos que habían creído en él: «Si os mantenéis en mi Palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos,
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."	32 y conoceréis la verdad y la verdad os hará libres».
33 They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become free'?"	33 Ellos le respondieron: «Nosotros somos descendencia de Abraham y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo dices tú: Os haréis libres?»
34 Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.	34 Jesús les respondió: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: todo el que comete pecado es un esclavo.
35 A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains.	35 Y el esclavo no se queda en casa para siempre; mientras el hijo se queda para siempre.
36 So if a son frees you, then you will truly be free.	36 Si, pues, el Hijo os da la libertad, seréis realmente libres.
37 I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you.	37 Ya sé que sois descendencia de Abraham; pero tratáis de matarme, porque mi Palabra no prende en vosotros.
38 I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the Father."	38 Yo hablo lo que he visto donde mi Padre; y vosotros hacéis lo que habéis oído donde vuestro padre».
39 They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works of Abraham.	39 Ellos le respondieron: «Nuestro padre es Abraham». Jesús les dice: «Si sois hijos de Abraham, haced las obras de Abraham.
40 But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God; Abraham did not do this.	40 Pero tratáis de matarme, a mí que os he dicho la verdad que oí de Dios. Eso no lo hizo Abraham.
41 You are doing the works of your father!" (So) they said to him, "We are not illegitimate. We have one Father, God."	41 Vosotros hacéis las obras de vuestro padre». Ellos le dijeron: «Nosotros no hemos nacido de la prostitución; no tenemos más padre que a Dios».
42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.	42 Jesús les respondió: «Si Dios fuera vuestro Padre, me amaríais a mí, porque yo he salido y vengo de Dios; no he venido por mi cuenta, sino que él me ha enviado.
43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot bear to hear my word.	43 ¿Por qué no reconocéis mi lenguaje? Porque no podéis escuchar mi Palabra.
44 You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.	44 Vosotros sois de vuestro padre el diablo y queréis cumplir los deseos de vuestro padre. Este era homicida desde el principio, y no se mantuvo en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él; cuando dice la mentira, dice lo que le sale de dentro, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.
45 But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.	45 Pero a mí, como os digo la verdad, no me creéis.
46 Can any of you charge me with sin? If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me?	46 ¿Quién de vosotros puede probar que soy pecador? Si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creéis?
47 Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not listen, because you do not belong to God."	47 El que es de Dios, escucha las palabras de Dios; vosotros no las escucháis, porque no sois de Dios».
48 The Jews answered and said to him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed?"	48 Los judíos le respondieron: «¿No decimos, con razón, que eres samaritano y que tienes un demonio?»
49 Jesus answered, "I am not possessed; I honor my Father, but you dishonor me.	49 Respondió Jesús: «Yo no tengo un demonio; sino que honro a mi Padre, y vosotros me deshonráis a mí.
50 I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks it and he is the one who judges.	50 Pero yo no busco mi gloria; ya hay quien la busca y juzga.
51 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death."	51 En verdad, en verdad os digo: si alguno guarda mi Palabra, no verá la muerte jamás».
52 (So) the Jews said to him, "Now we are sure that you are possessed. Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, 'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.'	52 Le dijeron los judíos: «Ahora estamos seguros de que tienes un demonio. Abraham murió, y también los profetas; y tú dices: “Si alguno guarda mi Palabra, no probará la muerte jamás.”
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? Or the prophets, who died? Who do you make yourself out to be?"	53 ¿Eres tú acaso más grande que nuestro padre Abraham, que murió? También los profetas murieron. ¿Por quién te tienes a ti mismo?»
54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, 'He is our God.'	54 Jesús respondió: «Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada; es mi Padre quien me glorifica, de quien vosotros decís: “El es nuestro Dios”,
55 You do not know him, but I know him. And if I should say that I do not know him, I would be like you a liar. But I do know him and I keep his word.	55 y sin embargo no le conocéis, yo sí que le conozco, y si dijera que no le conozco, sería un mentiroso como vosotros. Pero yo le conozco, y guardo su Palabra.
56 Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.	56 Vuestro padre Abraham se regocijó pensando en ver mi Día; lo vio y se alegró».
57 So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?"	57 Entonces los judíos le dijeron: «¿Aún no tienes cincuenta años y has visto a Abraham?»
58 Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM."	58 Jesús les respondió: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: antes de que Abraham existiera, Yo Soy».
59 So they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.	59 Entonces tomaron piedras para tirárselas; pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del Templo.
