Deuteronomy 13

1 "Every command that I enjoin on you, you shall be careful to observe, neither adding to it nor subtracting from it.	1 Se se levantar no meio de ti um profeta, ou alguém que diga que teve um sonho, se predisser algum sinal ou prodígio
2 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer who promises you a sign or wonder,	2 suceder o que ele anunciou, e te disser: Vamos, sigamos os deuses estranhos, que não conheces, e sirvá-mo-los,
3 urging you to follow other gods, whom you have not known, and to serve them: even though the sign or wonder he has foretold you comes to pass,	3 não ouvirás as palavras de tal profeta ou sonhador, porque o Senhor Vosso Deus vos põe à prova, para se tomar manifesto se o amais ou não de todo o vosso coração e de toda a vossa alma.
4 pay no attention to the words of that prophet or that dreamer; for the LORD, your God, is testing you to learn whether you really love him with all your heart and with all your soul.	4 Segui o Senhor vosso Deus, temei-o, guardai os seus mandamentos e ouvi a sua voz; a ele servireis, a ele vos unireis.
5 The LORD, your God, shall you follow, and him shall you fear; his commandment shall you observe, and his voice shall you heed, serving him and holding fast to him alone.	5 Aquele profeta, ou sonhador será posto à morte, porque vos falou pala vos afastar do Senhor vosso Deus, que vos tirou da terra do Egipto, e vos resgatou da casa da escravidão, (falando-te) pala te desviar do caminho que o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou. Assim tirarás o mal do meio de ti.
6 But that prophet or that dreamer shall be put to death, because, in order to lead you astray from the way which the LORD, your God, has directed you to take, he has preached apostasy from the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and ransomed you from that place of slavery. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	6 Se o teu irmão, filho de tua mãe, ou teu filho ou tua filha ou tua mulher que repousa sobre o teu seio, ou o amigo, a quem amas como à tua alma, te quiser persuadir, dizendo-te em segredo: Vamos e sirvamos a deuses estranhos desconhecidos de ti e de teus pais,
7 "If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or your intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known,	7 (deuses de qualquer) dos povos, que estão à tua volta, quer perto quer longe, desde uma extremidade da terra até à outra —
8 gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other:	8 não cedas ao que te diz, nem o ouças, nem teus olhos lhe perdoem, de modo que tenhas compaixão dele e o encubras,
9 do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him,	9 mas logo o denunciarás (aos juízes); seja a tua mão a primeira contra ele, para o matar, e depois a mão de todo o povo.
10 but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you.	10 Morrerá coberto de pedras, porque quis apartar-te do Senhor teu Deus, que te tirou da terra do Egipto, da casa da servidão.
11 You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.	11 Assim todo o Israel, ouvindo isto temerá fazer coisa semelhante a esta.
12 And all Israel, hearing of it, shall fear and never again do such evil as this in your midst.	12 Se em uma das tuas cidades, que o Senhor teu Deus te há-de dar para habitação, ouvires alguns que dizem:
13 "If, in any of the cities which the LORD, your God, gives you to dwell in, you hear it said	13 Pessoas malvadas saíram do meio de ti e andam a perverter os habitantes da sua cidade, dizendo: Vamos, e sirvamos aos deuses estranhos, que vós não conheceis —
14 that certain scoundrels have sprung up among you and have led astray the inhabitants of their city to serve other gods whom you have not known,	14 informa-te com solicitude e diligência, e, averiguada a verdade do facto, se achares ser certo o que se disse, se efectivamente se cometeu uma tal abominação,
15 you must inquire carefully into the matter and investigate it thoroughly. If you find that it is true and an established fact that this abomination has been committed in your midst,	15 imediatamente farás passar à espada os habitantes daquela cidade, e destruí-la-ás assim como tudo o que há nela, até os gados.
16 you shall put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, dooming the city and all life that is in it, even its cattle, to the sword.	16 Juntarás também no meio das suas praças todos os móveis que nela se acharem, e queimá-los-ás juntamente com a cidade, de maneira que consumas tudo em honra do Senhor teu Deus: será um perpétuo montão de ruínas, não Será mais reedificada.
17 Having heaped up all its spoils in the middle of its square, you shall burn the city with all its spoils as a whole burnt offering to the LORD, your God. Let it be a heap of ruins forever, never to be rebuilt.	17 Não se te pegue às mãos nada deste anátema, para que o Senhor aplaque a ira do seu furor, se compadeça de ti, e te multiplique como jurou a teus pais,
18 You shall not retain anything that is doomed, that the blazing wrath of the LORD may die down and he may show you mercy and in his mercy for you may multiply you as he promised your fathers on oath;	18 enquanto tu ouvires a voz do Senhor teu Deus, guardando todos os seus preceitos, que eu te prescrevo hoje, fazendo o que é agradável aos olhos do Senhor teu Deus.
19 because you have heeded the voice of the LORD, your God, keeping all his commandments which I enjoin on you today, doing what is right in his sight.
