1 Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me; And suddenly there will come to the temple the LORD whom you seek, And the messenger of the covenant whom you desire. Yes, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts.	1 Voy a enviar a mi mensajero para que prepare el camino ante mí. De repente llegará a su santuario el Señor a quien vosotros andáis buscando; y el mensajero de la alianza en quien os regocijáis, mirad que está llegando, dice el Señor del universo.
2 But who will endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like the refiner's fire, or like the fuller's lye.	2 ¿Quién resistirá el día de su llegada? ¿Quién se mantendrá en pie ante su mirada? Pues es como fuego de fundidor, como lejía de lavandero.
3 He will sit refining and purifying (silver), and he will purify the sons of Levi, Refining them like gold or like silver that they may offer due sacrifice to the LORD.	3 Se sentará como fundidor que refina la plata; refinará a los levitas y los acrisolará como oro y plata, y el Señor recibirá ofrenda y oblación justas.
4 Then the sacrifice of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in days of old, as in years gone by.	4 Entonces agradará al Señor la ofrenda de Judá y de Jerusalén, como en tiempos pasados, como antaño.
5 I will draw near to you for judgment, and I will be swift to bear witness Against the sorcerers, adulterers, and perjurers, those who defraud the hired man of his wages, Against those who defraud widows and orphans; those who turn aside the stranger, and those who do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.	5 Os llamaré a juicio y seré testigo diligente contra magos y adúlteros, contra los que juran en falso, contra los que roban el salario al trabajador, explotan a viudas, huérfanos y emigrantes, y no vuelven su mirada hacia mí, dice el Señor del universo.
6 Surely I, the LORD, do not change, nor do you cease to be sons of Jacob.	6 Pues yo, el Señor, no he cambiado; pero vosotros, hijos de Jacob, seguís en las mismas.
7 Since the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. Yet you say, "How must we return?"	7 Desde los tiempos de vuestros antepasados os habéis rebelado contra mis mandatos y no los cumplís. Volveos a mí y yo me volveré a vosotros, dice el Señor del universo. Decís: «¿Volvernos de qué?».
8 Dare a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me! And you say, "How do we rob you?" In tithes and in offerings!	8 ¿Puede defraudar el hombre a Dios? ¡Pues vosotros me estáis defraudando a mí! Decís: «¿En qué te defraudamos?». ¡En los diezmos y tributos!
9 You are indeed accursed, for you, the whole nation, rob me.	9 Estáis del todo malditos; me defraudáis, todo el pueblo me defrauda.
10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, That there may be food in my house, and try me in this, says the LORD of hosts: Shall I not open for you the floodgates of heaven, to pour down blessing upon you without measure?	10 Traed todos los diezmos al tesoro y habrá sustento en mi templo. Ponedme así a prueba, dice el Señor del universo, y veréis cómo abro las compuertas del cielo y derramo bendición sin medida.
11 For your sake I will forbid the locust to destroy your crops; And the vine in the field will not be barren, says the LORD of hosts.	11 Ahuyentaré de entre vosotros el insecto devorador y no se os echarán a perder los frutos de la tierra, ni se estropeará la viña, dice el Señor del universo.
12 Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land, says the LORD of hosts.	12 Todos los pueblos os felicitarán, pues seréis un gozo de país, dice el Señor del universo.
13 You have defied me in word, says the LORD, yet you ask, "What have we spoken against you?"	13 Levantáis la voz contra mí, dice el Señor. Decís: «¿En qué levantamos la voz contra ti?».
14 You have said, "It is vain to serve God, and what do we profit by keeping his command, And going about in penitential dress in awe of the LORD of hosts?	14 En que decís: «Pura nada, el temor debido al Señor. ¿Qué sacamos con guardar sus mandatos, haciendo duelo ante el Señor del universo?
15 Rather must we call the proud blessed; for indeed evildoers prosper, and even tempt God with impunity."	15 Al contrario, los orgullosos son los afortunados; prosperan los malhechores, tientan a Dios y salen airosos».
16 Then they who fear the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD listened attentively; And a record book was written before him of those who fear the LORD and trust in his name.	16 Los hombres que temen al Señor se pusieron a comentar esto entre sí. El Señor atendió y escuchó, y se escribió un libro memorial, en su presencia, en favor de los hombres que temen al Señor.
17 And they shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, my own special possession, on the day I take action. And I will have compassion on them, as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.	17 Ese día que estoy preparando, dice el Señor del universo, volverán a ser propiedad mía; me compadeceré de ellos como se compadece el hombre de su hijo que lo honra.
18 Then you will again see the distinction between the just and the wicked; Between him who serves God, and him who does not serve him.	18 Volveréis a ver la diferencia entre el justo y el malhechor, entre el que sirve a Dios y el que no lo sirve.
19 For lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven, when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble, And the day that is coming will set them on fire, leaving them neither root nor branch, says the LORD of hosts.	19 He aquí que llega el día, ardiente como un horno, en el que todos los orgullosos y malhechores serán como paja; los consumirá el día que está llegando, dice el Señor del universo, y no les dejará ni copa ni raíz.
20 But for you who fear my name, there will arise the sun of justice with its healing rays; And you will gambol like calves out of the stall	20 Pero a vosotros, los que teméis mi nombre, os iluminará un sol de justicia y hallaréis salud a su sombra; saldréis y brincaréis como terneros que salen del establo.
21 1)and tread down the wicked; They will become ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day I take action, says the LORD of hosts.	21 Pisotearéis a los malvados, que serán como polvo bajo la planta de vuestros pies, el día en que yo actúe, dice el Señor del universo.
22 Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I enjoined him on Horeb, The statutes and ordinances for all Israel.	22 Recordad la ley de mi siervo Moisés, los mandatos y preceptos que le di en el Horeb para todo Israel.
23 Lo, I will send you Elijah, the prophet, Before the day of the LORD comes, the great and terrible day,	23 Mirad, os envío al profeta Elías, antes de que venga el Día del Señor, día grande y terrible.
24 To turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the land with doom.	24 Él convertirá el corazón de los padres hacia los hijos, y el corazón de los hijos hacia los padres, para que no tenga que venir a castigar y destruir la tierra.
