Zechariah 7

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 In the fourth year of Darius the king (the word of the LORD came to Zechariah), on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month,	1 La quatrième année du roi Darius, la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Zacharie, le quatrième jour duneuvième mois, le mois de Kisleu.
2 Bethelsarezer sent Regemmelech and his men to implore favor of the LORD	2 Béthel envoya Saréçer avec ses gens pour implorer la face de Yahvé
3 and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"	3 et dire aux prêtres de Yahvé Sabaot ainsi qu'aux prophètes: "Dois-je pleurer au cinquième mois enfaisant des abstinences comme j'ai fait déjà tant d'années?"
4 Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:	4 Alors la parole de Yahvé Sabaot me fut adressée en ces termes:
5 Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?	5 Dis à tout le peuple du pays et aux prêtres: "Quand vous avez jeûné et gémi aux cinquième etseptième mois, depuis déjà 70 ans, est-ce pour l'amour de moi que vous avez multiplié vos jeûnes?
6 And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?	6 Et quand vous mangiez et buviez, n'étaient-ce pas vous les mangeurs et les buveurs?
7 Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?	7 Ne connaissez-vous pas les paroles que Yahvé proclamait par le ministère des prophètes du passé,quand Jérusalem était habitée et tranquille, avec ses villes alentour, et que le Négeb et le Bas-Pays étaientpeuplés?
8 (This word of the LORD came to Zechariah:	8 (La parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Zacharie en ces termes:
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.	9 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot.) Il disait: Rendez une justice vraie et pratiquez bonté et compassionchacun envers son frère.
10 Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.	10 N'opprimez point la veuve et l'orphelin, l'étranger et le pauvre, et ne méditez pas en votre coeurdu mal l'un envers l'autre.
11 But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.	11 Mais ils ne voulurent pas être attentifs: ils me présentèrent une épaule rebelle; ils endurcirentleurs oreilles pour ne pas entendre;
12 And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.	12 ils firent de leur coeur un diamant, de peur d'écouter l'instruction et les paroles que Yahvé Sabaotavait envoyées - par son esprit - par le ministère des prophètes du passé. Alors il y eut une grande colère de lapart de Yahvé Sabaot.
13 Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,	13 Et il se passa ceci: puisqu'il lançait des appels, et qu'eux n'entendaient pas, de même ils lancerontdes appels et je n'entendrai pas, dit Yahvé Sabaot,
14 but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.	14 je les ai dispersés chez toutes les nations qu'ils ne connaissaient pas; de la sorte, le pays futdévasté derrière eux; plus personne n'allait et venait. D'une terre de délices, ils firent un désert!"
