Zechariah 7

1 In the fourth year of Darius the king (the word of the LORD came to Zechariah), on the fourth day of Chislev, the ninth month,	1 El cuarto año del rey Darío, el día cuatro del noveno mes, el mes de Quisleu,
2 Bethelsarezer sent Regemmelech and his men to implore favor of the LORD	2 Betel Saréser, gran mago del rey, y sus hombres enviaron una delegación para aplacar el rostro del Señor
3 and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and the prophets, "Must I mourn and abstain in the fifth month as I have been doing these many years?"	3 y preguntar a los sacerdotes de la Casa del Señor de los ejércitos y a los profetas: «¿Debo seguir llorando e imponiéndome privaciones en el quinto mes, como lo he hecho durante tantos años?».
4 Thereupon this word of the LORD of hosts came to me:	4 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
5 Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month these seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?	5 Habla a todo el pueblo del país y a los sacerdotes, diciéndoles: Si ustedes han ayunado y se han lamentado en el quinto y el séptimo mes desde hace setenta años, ¿es por mí que han practicado esos ayunos?
6 And when you were eating and drinking, was it not for yourselves that you ate, and for yourselves that you drank?	6 Y cuando comen y beben ¿no lo hacen por ustedes mismos?
7 Were not these the words which the LORD spoke through the former prophets, when Jerusalem and the surrounding cities were inhabited and at peace, when the Negeb and the foothills were inhabited?	7 ¿No son estas las palabras que proclamó el Señor por intermedio de los antiguos profetas, cuando Jerusalén estaba habitada y tranquila, rodeada de sus ciudades, y estaban poblados el Négueb y la Sefelá?
8 (This word of the LORD came to Zechariah:	8 La palabra del Señor llegó a Zacarías en estos términos:
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts:) Render true judgment, and show kindness and compassion toward each other.	9 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Hagan justicia de verdad, practiquen mutuamente la fidelidad y la misericordia.
10 Do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor; do not plot evil against one another in your hearts.	10 No opriman a la viuda ni al huérfano, al extranjero ni al pobre, y no piensen en hacerse mal unos a otros.
11 But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.	11 Pero ellos no quisieron hacer caso: se mostraron rebeldes y endurecieron sus oídos para no oír;
12 And they made their hearts diamondhard so as not to hear the teaching and the message that the LORD of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets.	12 endurecieron su corazón como el diamante para no escuchar la instrucción y las palabras que el Señor de los ejércitos les había dirigido por su espíritu, por intermedio de los antiguos profetas. Entonces el Señor de los ejércitos se irritó profundamente.
13 Then the LORD of hosts in his great anger said that, as they had not listened when he called, so he would not listen when they called,	13 Y sucedió lo siguiente: Así como él llamaba y ellos no escuchaban, así también ellos llamarán y yo no escucharé, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
14 but would scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they did not know. Thus the land was left desolate after them with no one traveling to and fro; they made the pleasant land into a desert.	14 Yo los esparcía como un torbellino por todas las naciones que ellos no conocían, y el país fue devastado detrás de ellos, sin que nadie fuera ni volviera. De una tierra de delicias, ellos hicieron una desolación.
