Zechariah 5

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Then I raised my eyes again and saw a scroll flying.	1 Again raising my eyes, I had a vision. There was a flying scrol .
2 "What do you see?" he asked me. I answered, "I see a scroll flying; it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide."	2 The angel who was talking to me said, 'What do you see?' I replied, 'I see a flying scroll; it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.'
3 Then he said to me: "This is the curse which is to go forth over the whole earth; in accordance with it shall every thief be swept away, and in accordance with it shall every perjurer be expelled from here.	3 He then said to me, 'This is God's curse sweeping across the face of the whole country; for, accordingto what it says on one side, every thief wil be banished and, according to what it says on the other, everyonewho commits perjury in my name wil be banished from it.
4 I will send it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall come into the house of the thief, or into the house of him who perjures himself with my name; it shall lodge within his house, consuming it, timber and stones."	4 I am going to release it -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- for it to enter the house of the thief and ofanyone who commits perjury in my name, for it to settle deep within his house and consume it, timber, stone andal .'
5 Then the angel who spoke with me came forward and said to me, "Raise your eyes and see what this is that comes forth."	5 The angel who was talking to me appeared and said to me, 'Raise your eyes, and see what this is,going along.'
6 "What is it?" I asked. And he answered, "This is a bushel container coming. This is their guilt in all the land."	6 I said, 'What is it?' He said, 'It is a bushel measure going along.' He went on, 'This is their guiltthroughout the country.'
7 Then a leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting inside the bushel.	7 At this, a disc of lead was raised, and I saw a woman sitting inside the barrel.
8 "This is Wickedness," he said; and he thrust her inside the bushel, pushing the leaden cover into the opening.	8 He said, 'This is Wickedness.' And he rammed her back into the barrel and jammed its mouth shut withthe mass of lead.
9 Then I raised my eyes and saw two women coming forth with a wind ruffling their wings, for they had wings like the wings of a stork. As they lifted up the bushel into the air,	9 I raised my eyes, and there were two women appearing. The wind caught their wings -- they had wingslike a stork's; they raised the barrel midway between earth and heaven.
10 I said to the angel who spoke with me, "Where are they taking the bushel?"	10 I then said to the angel who was talking to me, 'Where are they taking the barrel?'
11 He replied, "To build a temple for it in the land of Shinar; when the temple is ready, they will deposit it there in its place."	11 He replied, 'To build a temple for it in the land of Shinar and make a pedestal on which to put it.'
