1 The following are the stages by which the Israelites journeyed up by companies from the land of Egypt under the guidance of Moses and Aaron.	1 Voici les stations (demeures) des enfants d'Israël, après qu'ils furent sortis de l'Egypte en plusieurs troupes (selon leurs bandes), sous la conduite de Moïse et d'Aaron ;
2 By the LORD'S command Moses recorded the starting places of the various stages. The starting places of the successive stages were:	2 Moïse les nota selon les lieux de campement des Hébreux, qu'ils changeaient par le commandement du Seigneur.
3 They set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the Passover morrow the Israelites went forth in triumph, in view of all Egypt,	3 Les enfants d'Israël étant donc partis de Ramessès, le quinzième jour du premier mois, le lendemain de la Pâque, par un effet de la main puissante du Seigneur, à la vue de tous les Egyptiens
4 While the Egyptians buried their first-born all of whom the LORD had struck down; on their gods, too, the LORD executed judgments.	4 qui ensevelissaient leur premiers-nés, que le Seigneur avait frappés (car il avait exercé sa vengeance sur leurs dieux mêmes),
5 Setting out from Rameses, the Israelites camped at Succoth.	5 allèrent camper à Soccoth.
6 Setting out from Succoth, they camped at Etham near the edge of the desert.	6 De Soccoth ils vinrent à Etham, qui est à l'extrémité du désert.
7 Setting out from Etham, they turned back to Pi-hahiroth, which is opposite Baal-zephon, and they camped opposite Migdol.	7 Etant sortis de là, ils vinrent vis-à-vis de Phihahiroth, qui regarde Béelséphon, et ils campèrent devant Magdalum.
8 Setting out from Pi-hahiroth, they crossed over through the sea into the desert, and after a three days' journey in the desert of Etham, they camped at Marah.	8 De Phihahiroth, ils passèrent par le milieu de la mer dans le désert ; et, ayant marché trois jours par le désert d'Etham, ils campèrent à Mara.
9 Setting out from Marah, they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.	9 De Mara ils vinrent à Elim, où il y avait douze sources d'eaux et soixante-dix palmiers ; et ils y campèrent.
10 Setting out from Elim, they camped beside the Red Sea.	10 Etant partis de là, ils allèrent dresser leurs tentes près de la mer Rouge. Et étant partis de la mer Rouge,
11 Setting out from the Red Sea, they camped in the desert of Sin.	11 ils campèrent dans le désert de Sin.
12 Setting out from the desert of Sin, they camped at Dophkah.	12 De Sin, ils vinrent à Daphca.
13 Setting out from Dophkah, they camped at Alush.	13 De Daphca, ils vinrent camper à Alus.
14 Setting out from Alush, they camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.	14 Et étant sortis d'Alus, ils vinrent dresser leurs tentes à Raphidim, où le peuple ne trouva point d'eau pour boire.
15 Setting out from Rephidim, they camped in the desert of Sinai.	15 De Raphidim, ils vinrent camper au désert du (de) Sinaï.
16 Setting out from the desert of Sinai, they camped at Kibroth-hattaavah.	16 Etant sortis du désert de Sinaï, ils vinrent aux Sépulcres de (la) concupiscence.

26 Setting out from Makheloth, they camped at Tahath.	26 Et étant sortis de Macéloth, ils vinrent à Thahath.

37 Setting out from Kadesh, they camped at Mount Hor on the border of the land of Edom.	37 De Cadès, ils vinrent camper sous la montagne de Hor, à l'extrémité du pays d'Edom.
38 (Aaron the priest ascended Mount Hor at the LORD'S command, and there he died in the fortieth year from the departure of the Israelites from the land of Egypt, on the first day of the fifth month.	38 Et (Or) le grand prêtre Aaron, étant monté sur la montagne de Hor par l'ordre du Seigneur, y mourut le premier jour du cinquième mois de la quarantième année après la sortie des enfants d'Israël du pays d'Egypte,
39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.	39 étant âgé de cent vingt-trois ans.
40 Now, when the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negeb in the land of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming. . . . )	40 Alors (Cependant) Arad, roi des Chananéens qui habitaient vers le midi, apprit que les enfants d'Israël étaient venus dans le pays de Chanaan.
41 Setting out from Mount Hor,-They camped at Zalmonah.	41 Etant partis de la montagne de Hor, ils vinrent camper à Salmona ;
42 Setting out from Zalmonah, they camped at Punon.	42 d'où ils vinrent à Phunon.
43 Setting out from Punon, they camped at Oboth.	43 De Phunon, ils allèrent camper à Oboth.
44 Setting out from Oboth, they camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.	44 D'Oboth, ils vinrent à Jiéabarim, qui est sur la frontière des Moabites.
45 Setting out from Iye-abarim, they camped at Dibon-gad.	45 Etant partis de Jiéabarim, ils vinrent dresser leurs tentes à Dibongad ;

47 Setting out from Almon-diblathaim, they camped in the Abarim Mountains opposite Nebo.	47 Ils partirent de Helmondéblathaïm, et vinrent aux montagnes d'Abarim, vis-à-vis de Nabo.
48 Setting out from the Abarim Mountains, they camped on the plains of Moab along the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.	48 Et ayant quittés les montagnes d'Abarim, ils passèrent dans les plaines de Moab, sur le bord du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho,
49 Their camp along the Jordan on the plains of Moab extended from Beth-jeshimoth to Abelshittim.	49 où ils campèrent dans les lieux les plus plats du pays des Moabites, depuis Bethsimoth jusqu'à Abelsatim.
50 The LORD spoke to Moses on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan and said to him:	50 Ce fut là que le Seigneur parla à Moïse, et lui dit :
51 "Tell the Israelites: When you go across the Jordan into the land of Canaan,	51 Ordonne ceci aux enfants d'Israël, et dis-leur : Quand vous aurez passé le Jourdain, et que vous serez entrés dans le pays de Chanaan,
52 drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you; destroy all their stone figures and molten images, and demolish all their high places.	52 exterminez tous les habitants de ce pays-là ; brisez les pierres érigées en l'honneur des fausses divinités ; mettez en pièces leurs statues, et renversez tous leurs hauts lieux
53 "You shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land as your property.	53 pour purifier ainsi la terre, afin que vous y habitiez ; car je vous l'ai donnée afin que vous la possédiez ;
54 You shall apportion the land among yourselves by lot, clan by clan, assigning a large heritage to a large group and a small heritage to a small group. Wherever anyone's lot falls, there shall his property be within the heritage of his ancestral tribe.	54 et vous la partagerez entre vous par le sort. Vous en donnerez une plus grande partie à ceux qui seront en plus grand nombre, et une moindre à ceux qui seront moins nombreux. Chacun recevra son héritage selon qu'il lui sera échu par le sort, et le partage s'en fera par tribus et par familles.
55 "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those whom you allow to remain will become as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the country where you live,	55 (Mais) Si vous ne voulez pas exterminer les habitants du pays, ceux qui y seront restés seront comme des clous dans vos yeux, et comme des lances dans vos côtés, et ils vous combattront (seront contraires) dans le pays où vous devez habiter ;
56 and I will treat you as I had intended to treat them."	56 et je vous ferai à vous-mêmes tout le mal que j'avais résolu de leur faire.
