1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 La parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
2 Son of man, speak this prophecy: Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry, Oh, the day!	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così parla il Signore Dio: Urlate: « Guai, guai a quel giorno:
3 for near is the day, near is the day of the LORD; a day of clouds, doomsday for the nations shall it be.	3 perchè il giorno è vicino, è vicino il giorno del Signore, il giorno della caligine: sarà il tempo delle nazioni.
4 Then a sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt, when her riches are seized and her foundations are overthrown.	4 Una spada verrà contro l'Egitto, e vi sarà lo spavento nell'Etiopia quando in Egitto cadranno i feriti, e il suo popolo sarà portato via, e i suoi fondamenti saran distrutti.
5 Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and people of the allied territory shall fall by the sword with them.	5 Gli Etiopi, i Libii, i Lidii, e tutti gli altri popoli e Chub e i figli dei paesi alleati cadranno con essi sotto la spada.
6 Those who support Egypt shall fall, and down shall come her proud strength; from Migdol to Syene they shall fall there by the sword, says the Lord GOD.	6 Così parla il Signore Dio: Cadranno i sostegni dell'Egitto, e sarà abbattuta la superbia del suo impero: dalla torre di Siene vi cadranno sotto la spada — dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti —
7 She shall be the most devastated of lands, and her cities shall be the most desolate of all.	7 e saran dispersi in mezzo a terre desolate, e le sue città saranno in mezzo a città rovinate,
8 Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and when all who help her are broken.	8 e sapranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò messo il fuoco in Egitto, e saran distrutte tutte le sue milizie ausiliari.
9 On that day messengers shall hasten forth at my command to terrify unsuspecting Ethiopia; they shall be in anguish on the day of Egypt, which is surely coming.	9 In quel giorno partiranno da me su triremi dei messaggeri a turbar la sicurezza dell'Etiopia, e vi sarà in essi il terrore nel giorno dell'Egitto, che senza dubbio verrà.
10 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the throngs of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.	10 Così parla il Signore Dio: Io annienterò la moltitudine dell'Egitto per mezzo di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia:
11 He and his people with him, the most ruthless of nations, shall be brought in to devastate the land. They shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.	11 egli e il suo popolo, fortissimi tra le nazioni, saran condotti a distruggere il paese, e sguaineranno le loro spade contro l'Egitto e riempiranno la terra d'uccisi.
12 I will turn the Niles into dry land and sell the land over to the power of the wicked. The land and everything in it I will hand over to foreigners to devastate. I, the LORD, have spoken.	12 E renderò asciutti i letti dei fiumi, e abbandonerò la terra nelle mani dei pessimi, e sterminerò il paese, e tutto quello che contiene, per mano di stranieri: — io, il Signore, ho parlato.
13 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the great ones of Memphis and the princes of the land of Egypt, that they may be no more. I will cast fear into the land of Egypt, and devastate Pathros.	13 Così parla il Signore Dio: Io abbatterò i simulacri, farò sparire gli idoli da Menfi, e non vi sarà più un principe nativo d'Egitto e sulla terra d'Egitto manderò il terrore.
14 I will set fire to Zoan, and inflict punishments on Thebes.	14 E rovinerò la terra di Fatures, e darò alle fiamme Tafnis, e farò giustizia in Alessandria,
15 I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, Egypt's stronghold, and cut down the crowds in Memphis.	15 ed effonderò il mio sdegno sopra Pelusio, la fortezza d'Egitto, e sterminerò la moltitudine d'Alessandria,
16 I will set fire to Egypt; Syene shall writhe in anguish; Thebes shall be breached and its walls shall be demolished.	16 e darò fuoco all'Egitto: Pelusio sarà in dolori come una partoriente, Alessandria sarà distrutta, e Menti sarà in quotidiani affanni.
17 The young men of On and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword, and the cities themselves shall go into captivity.	17 La gioventù di Eliopoli e di Rubasti cadrà sotto la spada, ed esse stesse saran menate schiave.
18 In Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened when I break the scepter of Egypt. Her haughty pride shall cease from her, clouds shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.	18 A Tafnis il giorno si oscurerà, quando ivi io spezzerò gli scettri d'Egitto, e finirà la superbia della sua potenza, essa sarà coperta dalla caligine, e le sue figlie saran menate schiave.
19 Thus will I inflict punishments on Egypt, that they may know that I am the LORD.	19 Ed io farò giustizia contro l'Egitto, e sapranno che io sono il Signore ».
20 On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:	20 Nell'anno undecimo, il primo mese, ai sette del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and see, it has not been bound up with bandages and healing remedies that it may be strong enough to hold the sword.	21 « Figlio dell'uomo, il braccio di Faraone, re d'Egitto, io l'ho rotto, ed ecco non è stato fasciato perchè ritorni sano, non è stato fasciato con pezze, nè legato con bende, in modo che, ripreso vigore, possa maneggiare la spada.
22 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. I will break his strong arm, so that the sword drops from his hand.	22 Per questo, così parla il Signore Dio: Eccomi a Faraone, re d'Egitto, e farò in pezzi il suo braccio forte, ma rotto, e gli farò cadere di mano la spada.
23 I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.	23 E disperderò l'Egitto fra le nazioni e lo disseminerò ai venti per le terre,
24 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand, which he will bring against Egypt so as to plunder and pillage it.	24 renderò forti le braccia del re di Babilonia, e metterò la mia spada nella sua mano, e spezzerò le braccia di Faraone, e davanti a lui gemeranno con gemiti di uccisi.
25 (I will make the arms of the king of Babylon strong, but the arms of Pharaoh shall drop.) Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon for him to wield against the land of Egypt.	25 E darò vigore alle braccia del re di Babilonia, le braccia di Faraone cadranno; e sapranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò posto la mia spada in mano al re di Babilonia, che la stenderà sopra la terra d'Egitto,
26 (I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.) Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	26 e disperderò l'Egitto fra le nazioni, e li getterò al vento per le terre; e sapranno che io sono il Signore ».
