1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
2 Son of man, speak this prophecy: Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry, Oh, the day!	2 «Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e dirai: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Urlate, ahi, la sciagura, la sciagura di quel giorno!
3 for near is the day, near is the day of the LORD; a day of clouds, doomsday for the nations shall it be.	3 Perchè il giorno è vicino e si appressa il giorno del Signore, sarà giorno di nembo, sarà l'ora delle nazioni!
4 Then a sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt, when her riches are seized and her foundations are overthrown.	4 E la spada verrà in Egitto e vi sarà il terrore nell'Etiopia, quando in Egitto i trafitti cadranno morti e tutta la loro moltitudine sarà portata via e demolite le sue fondamenta.
5 Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and people of the allied territory shall fall by the sword with them.	5 L'Etiopia, la Libia, la Lidia e tutta l'altra popolazione e Cub e i figli della terra dell'alleanza con essi cadranno sotto la spada -».
6 Those who support Egypt shall fall, and down shall come her proud strength; from Migdol to Syene they shall fall there by the sword, says the Lord GOD.	6 Così dice il Signore Dio: «I sostenitori dell'Egitto cadranno e sarà distrutta la superbia del suo potere, dalla torre di Siene vi sarà tutta una strage di caduti, dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti.
7 She shall be the most devastated of lands, and her cities shall be the most desolate of all.	7 E sarà messa in desolazione, in mezzo a terre desolate, e le sue città fatte deserte in mezzo a città deserte.
8 Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and when all who help her are broken.	8 E conosceranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò fatto avvampare l'incendio in Egitto e andranno in isfacelo tutti i suoi ausiliari.
9 On that day messengers shall hasten forth at my command to terrify unsuspecting Ethiopia; they shall be in anguish on the day of Egypt, which is surely coming.	9 In quel giorno usciranno messaggeri da parte mia su triremi, per infrangere la cieca confidenza dell'Etiopia, e vi sarà in essa terrore, quando verrà il giorno per l'Egitto perchè senza fallo giungerà».
10 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the throngs of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.	10 Così dice il Signore Dio: «Io farò cessare la moltitudine che affolla l'Egitto per mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia.
11 He and his people with him, the most ruthless of nations, shall be brought in to devastate the land. They shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.	11 Egli e seco lui la sua gente, i più forti delle nazioni, saranno condotti a dar il guasto alla terra e sguaineranno le spade sopra l'Egitto e riempiranno la terra di uccisi.
12 I will turn the Niles into dry land and sell the land over to the power of the wicked. The land and everything in it I will hand over to foreigners to devastate. I, the LORD, have spoken.	12 E gli alvei dei fiumi renderò asciutti, e darò la terra in potere dei malvagi e devasterò la terra e tutto quel che contiene per mano degli stranieri. Io, il Signore ho parlato».
13 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the great ones of Memphis and the princes of the land of Egypt, that they may be no more. I will cast fear into the land of Egypt, and devastate Pathros.	13 Così dice il Signore Dio: «Io sterminerò i simulacri e farò sparire gli idoli di Memfi; principe oriundo di Egitto più non vi sarà, e spargerò il terrore nella terra di Egitto.
14 I will set fire to Zoan, and inflict punishments on Thebes.	14 E metterò a soqquadro la terra di Patures e a fuoco Tanis e farò perire la moltitudine di Tebe.
15 I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, Egypt's stronghold, and cut down the crowds in Memphis.	15 E riverserò la mia indignazione sopra Pelusio baluardo dell'Egitto e farò perire la moltitudine di Tebe.
16 I will set fire to Egypt; Syene shall writhe in anguish; Thebes shall be breached and its walls shall be demolished.	16 E metterò a fuoco l'Egitto, Pelusio sarà nelle doglie, come una partoriente, e Tebe smantellata e in Memfi angustie quotidiane.
17 The young men of On and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword, and the cities themselves shall go into captivity.	17 La gioventù d'Eliopoli e di Bubaste cascherà sotto la spada e i superstiti saranno condotti in schiavitù.
18 In Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened when I break the scepter of Egypt. Her haughty pride shall cease from her, clouds shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.	18 In Tafni il giorno si abbuierà, quando avrò infranto gli scettri di Egitto e sarà annientata in essa la superbia della sua potenza; tutta una nube l'avvolgerà e le sue figlie saranno condotte in schiavitù.
19 Thus will I inflict punishments on Egypt, that they may know that I am the LORD.	19 E farò giudizio severo dell'Egitto; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore».
20 On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:	20 E avvenne nell'anno undecimo il settimo giorno del primo mese, che il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and see, it has not been bound up with bandages and healing remedies that it may be strong enough to hold the sword.	21 «Figlio dell'uomo, ho infranto il braccio di Faraone, re d'Egitto ed ecco che non è stato fasciato per farlo guarire avviluppandolo di panni, ravvolgendolo nelle bende, affinchè ristabilitosi, possa maneggiar la spada».
22 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. I will break his strong arm, so that the sword drops from his hand.	22 Perciò, così dice il Signore Dio: «Eccomi al Faraone re di Egitto e gli stritolerò il suo braccio forte, ma fratturato, e gli farò cascare la spada dalla sua mano;
23 I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.	23 e disperderò l'Egitto in mezzo alle nazioni e lo disseminerò per tutte le terre.
24 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand, which he will bring against Egypt so as to plunder and pillage it.	24 Rafforzerò invece le braccia del re di Babilonia e darò la mia spada in mano sua, e stritolerò le braccia di Faraone e gemerà su se stesso nel gemito di un trafitto.
25 (I will make the arms of the king of Babylon strong, but the arms of Pharaoh shall drop.) Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon for him to wield against the land of Egypt.	25 E rafforzerò le braccia del re di Babilonia e a Faraone cascheranno le mani e conosceranno che io sono il Signore quando avrò dato la mia spada in mano al re di Babilonia ed egli l'avrà stesa sopra la terra di Egitto.
26 (I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.) Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	26 E disperderò l'Egitto fra le nazioni e li disseminerò per altre terre; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore».
