1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 Cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
2 Son of man, speak this prophecy: Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry, Oh, the day!	2 “Fils d’homme, prophétise. Tu diras cette parole de Yahvé: Ah, quel jour!
3 for near is the day, near is the day of the LORD; a day of clouds, doomsday for the nations shall it be.	3 Ce jour est proche, c’est l’heure de Yahvé, c’est le jugement des nations.
4 Then a sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt, when her riches are seized and her foundations are overthrown.	4 L’épée est venue en Égypte, Kouch en a tremblé; les victimes tombent en Égypte et ses fondations sont disloquées.
5 Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and people of the allied territory shall fall by the sword with them.	5 Kouch, Pout et Loud, l’Arabie, Koub et les coalisés tombent ensemble sous l’épée.
6 Those who support Egypt shall fall, and down shall come her proud strength; from Migdol to Syene they shall fall there by the sword, says the Lord GOD.	6 Les alliés de l’Égypte succombent, et de Migdol à Syène son orgueilleuse puissance s’effondre: ils tomberont sous l’épée, parole du Seigneur Yahvé.
7 She shall be the most devastated of lands, and her cities shall be the most desolate of all.	7 Ils seront le plus ruiné des pays, leurs villes seront les plus saccagées des villes.
8 Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and when all who help her are broken.	8 On saura que je suis Yahvé lorsque je porterai le feu en Égypte et que tous ses alliés seront brisés.
9 On that day messengers shall hasten forth at my command to terrify unsuspecting Ethiopia; they shall be in anguish on the day of Egypt, which is surely coming.	9 Des messagers iront jusqu’à Kouch, là-bas tous trembleront à la nouvelle de sa chute: ce jour vient.
10 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the throngs of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.	10 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je réduirai à rien les armées de l’Égypte par la main de Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone.
11 He and his people with him, the most ruthless of nations, shall be brought in to devastate the land. They shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.	11 Je l’amènerai, lui et son monde, le tombeur des peuples, pour ravager le pays. Ils frapperont l’Égypte avec l’épée et le pays sera couvert de victimes.
12 I will turn the Niles into dry land and sell the land over to the power of the wicked. The land and everything in it I will hand over to foreigners to devastate. I, the LORD, have spoken.	12 Je mettrai ses canaux à sec, et je livrerai aux étrangers le pays et tout ce qu’il contient - parole de Yahvé.
13 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the great ones of Memphis and the princes of the land of Egypt, that they may be no more. I will cast fear into the land of Egypt, and devastate Pathros.	13 Voici ce que dit encore Yahvé: Il n’y aura plus de seigneurs à Nof, plus de princes en Égypte ( ).
14 I will set fire to Zoan, and inflict punishments on Thebes.	14 Je dévasterai Patros, je brûlerai Soan et je châtierai No.
15 I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, Egypt's stronghold, and cut down the crowds in Memphis.	15 Je déchaînerai ma colère contre Sin, la forteresse de l’Égypte et je ferai disparaître la foule de No.
16 I will set fire to Egypt; Syene shall writhe in anguish; Thebes shall be breached and its walls shall be demolished.	16 Je mettrai le feu à l’Égypte, Sin sera pris de tremblements, à No on ouvrira une brèche et les eaux se déverseront.
17 The young men of On and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword, and the cities themselves shall go into captivity.	17 Les jeunes d’On et de Pi-Béset tomberont sous l’épée: la ville ira en captivité.
18 In Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened when I break the scepter of Egypt. Her haughty pride shall cease from her, clouds shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.	18 À Tahpanhès le jour se changera en ténèbres lorsque je briserai le sceptre de l’Égypte et mettrai fin à sa puissance insolente; elle ne sortira pas du nuage, et ses villes connaîtront la déportation.
19 Thus will I inflict punishments on Egypt, that they may know that I am the LORD.	19 Je ferai rendre compte à l’Égypte, et l’on saura que je suis Yahvé.
20 On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:	20 En la onzième année, le 7 du premier mois, cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and see, it has not been bound up with bandages and healing remedies that it may be strong enough to hold the sword.	21 “Fils d’homme, j’ai brisé le bras de Pharaon roi d’Égypte, et personne n’est venu le soigner, lui appliquer un remède pour qu’il ait la force de reprendre l’épée.
22 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. I will break his strong arm, so that the sword drops from his hand.	22 C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je vais revenir contre Pharaon roi d’Égypte; je lui briserai le bras et je ferai tomber l’épée de sa main.
23 I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.	23 Je disperserai les Égyptiens au milieu des nations, je les disséminerai parmi les pays.
24 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand, which he will bring against Egypt so as to plunder and pillage it.	24 Je rendrai forts les bras du roi de Babylone et je placerai mon épée dans sa main; il en frappera l’Égypte et il s’en ira avec les dépouilles.
25 (I will make the arms of the king of Babylon strong, but the arms of Pharaoh shall drop.) Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon for him to wield against the land of Egypt.	25 Je rendrai forts les bras du roi de Babylone, et le Pharaon devra baisser les siens. On saura que je suis Yahvé lorsque je placerai mon épée dans la main du roi de Babylone et qu’il la lèvera contre l’Égypte.
26 (I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.) Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	26 Je disperserai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, je les disséminerai parmi les peuples et l’on saura que je suis Yahvé.
