NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 As for you, son of man, raise a lamentation over the prince of Israel:1 Et tu, assume planctum super principes Israel
2 What a lioness was your mother, a lion of lions! Among young lions she couched to rear her whelps.2 et dices:
Qualis erat mater tua leaena
inter leones!
Cubavit in medio leunculorum,
enutrivit catulos suos.
3 One whelp she raised up, a young lion he became; He learned to seize prey, men he devoured.3 Et educavit unum de leunculis suis;
leo factus est
et didicit capere praedam,
homines devoravit.
4 Then nations raised cries against him, in their pit he was caught; They took him away with hooks to the land of Egypt.4 Et convocaverunt contra eum gentes,
in fovea earum captus est;
et adduxerunt eum in circulis
in terram Aegypti.
5 Then she saw that in vain she had waited, her hope was destroyed. She took another of her whelps, him she made a young lion.5 Quae cum vidisset quoniam exspectaverat,
et perierat spes eius,
tulit alium de leunculis suis,
leonem constituit eum.
6 He prowled among the lions, a young lion he became; He learned to seize prey, men he devoured;6 Qui incedebat inter leones,
factus est leo
et didicit praedam capere,
homines devoravit;
7 He ravaged their strongholds, their cities he wasted. The land and all in it were appalled at the noise of his roar.7 et fregit arces eorum
et civitates eorum vastavit.
Et obstupuit terra et plenitudo eius
a voce rugitus illius.
8 Nations laid out against him snares all about him; They spread their net to take him, in their pit he was caught.8 Et convenerunt adversum eum gentes
undique de provinciis
et expanderunt super eum rete suum,
in fovea earum captus est.
9 They put him in a cage and took him away to the king of Babylon, So that his voice would not be heard on the mountains of Israel.9 Et miserunt eum in caveam in circulis
et adduxerunt eum ad regem Babylonis;
qui misit eum in carcerem,
ne audiretur vox eius ultra
super montes Israel.
10 Your mother was like a vine planted by the water; Fruitful and branchy was she because of the abundant water.10 Mater tua vineae assimilabatur
super aquam plantata.
Fructus eius et frondes eius creverunt
ex aquis multis;
11 One strong branch she put out as a royal scepter. Stately was her height amid the dense foliage; Notably tall was she with her many clusters.11 et factae sunt ei virgae solidae
in sceptra dominantium,
et exaltata est statura eius
usque in nubes,
et apparuit in altitudine sua,
in multitudine palmitum suorum.
12 But she was torn up in fury and flung to the ground; The east wind withered her up, her fruit was torn off; Then her strong branch withered up, fire devoured it.12 Et evulsa est in ira
in terramque proiecta,
et ventus urens siccavit fructum eius;
abrepta et arefacta est virga roboris eius,
ignis comedit eam.
13 So now she is planted in the desert, in a land dry and parched,13 Et nunc transplantata est in desertum,
in terra invia et sitienti.
14 For fire came out of the branch and devoured her shoots; She is now without a strong branch, a ruler's scepter. This is a lamentation and serves as a lamentation.14 Et egressus est ignis de virga ramorum eius,
qui fructum eius comedit;
et non fuit in ea virga fortis,
sceptrum regni ”.
Planctus est, et erit in planctum.
