Jeremiah 49

1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? Why then has Milcom disinherited Gad, why have his people settled in Gad's cities?	1 Aos amonitas - Eis o que diz o Senhor: Israel não possui filhos nem herdeiros? Por que Melcom apoderou-se de Gad, e instalou seu povo nas suas cidades?
2 But the days are coming, says the LORD, when against Rabbah of the Ammonites I will sound the battle alarm; She shall become a mound of ruins, and her daughter cities shall be destroyed by fire. Israel shall inherit those who disinherited her, says the LORD.	2 Dias virão - oráculo do Senhor - em que farei ouvir gritos de guerra em Rabá dos amonitas; ficará ela reduzida a um montão de escombros; suas filhas serão entregues às chamas, e Israel herdará dos que dele herdaram - oráculo do Senhor.
3 Howl, Heshbon, for the ravager approaches, shriek, daughters of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn, run to and fro, gashing yourselves; For Milcom goes into exile along with his priests and captains.	3 Lamenta-te, Hesebon, porque Hai foi devastada; gritai, filhas de Rabá, revesti-vos de cilícios e cobri-vos de saco, errando pelo redil, porquanto Melcom vai ser levado ao exílio com todos os seus sacerdotes e chefes.
4 Why do you glory in your strength, your ebbing strength, rebellious daughter? You who trust in your treasures, saying, "Who can come against me?"	4 Por que orgulhar-te da fertilidade de teus vales? Filha esquiva que tanto confias em teus tesouros, dizendo: Quem ousaria atacar-me?
5 I am bringing terror upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all round about you; You shall be scattered, each man in headlong flight, with no one to rally the fugitives.	5 Vou desencadear em volta de ti o terror - oráculo do Senhor dos exércitos. Sereis expulsos, um por um, sem que ninguém consiga reunir os fugitivos.
6 But afterward I will change the lot of the Ammonites, says the LORD.	6 Em seguida, mudarei a sorte dos amonitas.
7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman, has counsel perished from the prudent, has their wisdom become corrupt?	7 Contra Edom. - Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Não existe mais sabedoria em Temã? Perdeu-se o conselho dos clarividentes, desvaneceu-se a inteligência?
8 Flee, retreat, hide in deep holes, you who live in Dedan: For I will bring destruction upon Esau when I come to punish him.	8 Fugi, voltai as costas, ocultai-vos nos esconderijos, habitantes de Dedã, pois que trago a ruína sobre Esaú: chegou a hora da devastação.
9 If vintagers came upon you, they would leave no gleanings; If thieves by night, they would destroy as they pleased.	9 Se vierem a ti vindimadores, nenhum cacho deixarão. Se forem ladrões noturnos, pilharão à saciedade.
10 So I myself will strip Esau; I will uncover his retreats so that he cannot hide. He is ruined: sons, and brothers, and neighbors, so that he is no more.	10 Porquanto eu sondei Esaú, e lhe descobri os esconderijos: ele não se pode mais ocultar. Arruinou-se-lhe a raça, seus irmãos. e seus vizinhos. E não subsistirá mais.
11 Leave your orphans behind, I will keep them alive; your widows, let them trust in me.	11 Abandona teus órfãos, dar-lhes-ei do que viver; ponham tuas viúvas sua confiança em mim!
12 For thus says the LORD: Even those not sentenced to drink the cup must drink it! Shall you then go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished; you shall surely drink it.	12 Porque assim falou o Senhor: Aqueles que não deviam beber deste cálice, terão de beber. E tu? Estarias isento dele? Não, tu beberás;
13 By my own self I have sworn, says the LORD: Bozrah shall become an object of horror and a disgrace, a desolation and a curse; she and all her cities shall become ruins forever.	13 juro-o por mim mesmo - oráculo do Senhor. Será Bosra objeto de pasmo e de opróbrio, uma solidão maldita; e suas cidades serão eterna ruína.
14 I have heard a report from the LORD, a herald has been sent among the nations: Gather together, move against her, rise up for battle.	14 Chegou-me uma notícia da parte do Senhor; um arauto foi-me enviado dentre as nações: Uni-vos! Atacai-o! Erguei-vos para a guerra!
15 Small will I make you among the nations, despised among men!	15 Olha: faço-te pequeno entre as nações, desprezado entre os homens.
16 The terror you spread beguiled you, and your presumption of heart; You that live in rocky crags, that hold the heights of the hill: Though you build your nest high as the eagle, from there I will drag you down, says the LORD.	16 O terror... o orgulho do teu coração enganou-te, a ti, que habitas nas concavidades dos rochedos, e que ocupas o cume das colinas. Ainda que colocasses teu ninho tão alto quanto o da águia, de lá te precipitaria - oráculo do Senhor.
17 Edom shall become an object of horror. Every passer-by shall be appalled and catch his breath at all her wounds.	17 Será transformada Edom em objeto de espanto, e o transeunte, estupefato, mofará de suas ruínas.
18 As when Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighbors were overthrown, says the LORD, not a man shall dwell there: no one shall visit there.	18 Repetir-se-á a catástrofe de Sodoma e Gomorra, e das cidades vizinhas - oráculo do Senhor. Ninguém mais habitará lá e nenhum ser humano a povoará.
19 As when a lion comes up from the thicket of Jordan to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in an instant, will drive men off; and whom I choose I will establish there! For who is like me? who can call me to account? What shepherd can stand against me?	19 Qual leão {o inimigo} que sobe dos espinheiros do Jordão para uma pastagem sem fim, assim, num instante, farei fugir daqui {Edom} e aí estabelecerei aquele que eu escolher. Quem se iguala a mim? Quem poderia provocar-me? Qual o pastor que poderia afrontar-me?
20 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD, which he has taken against Edom; Hear the plans he has made against those that live in Teman: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep, their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	20 Escutai a decisão do Senhor acerca de Edom, e seus desígnios contra os homens de Temã: serão arrastados para a morte, como débeis cordeiros, e seus campos serão devastados;
21 At the noise of their fall the earth quakes, to the Red Sea the outcry is heard!	21 ao estrondo de sua queda, treme a terra e até o mar Vermelho ressoa o seu fragor.
22 See! like an eagle he soars aloft, and spreads his wings over Bozrah; On that day the hearts of Edom's heroes shall be like the heart of a woman in travail.Concerning Damascus:	22 Qual uma águia, eis que desprende o vôo, estendendo suas asas sobre Bosra; e o coração dos guerreiros de Edom, naquele dia, se assemelhará ao coração da mulher em parto.
23 Hamath and Arpad are covered with shame, they have heard bad news; Worried, they toss like the sea which cannot rest.	23 Contra Damasco: Foram confundidos Emat e Arfad porque uma notícia funesta lhes adveio, e de medo desfaleceram: é o mar em tormenta que não se pode acalmar.
24 Damascus is weakened, she turns to flee, panic has seized her. Distress and pangs take hold of her, like those of a woman in travail.	24 Damasco perdeu a coragem, desejaria fugir. O terror, porém, a paralisa, e a angústia e a dor dela se apoderam, qual mulher em parto.
25 How can the city of glory be forsaken, the town of delight!	25 Como não foi abandonada a cidade gloriosa, a cidade que fazia minhas delícias?
26 But now her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her warriors shall be stilled. On that day, says the LORD of hosts,	26 Porquanto, cairão os jovens em suas praças, e seus homens de guerra nesse dia perecerão - oráculo do Senhor dos exércitos.
27 I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.	27 Vou lançar fogo nas muralhas de Damasco para devorar os palácios de Ben-Hadad. Oráculo contra os filhos do oriente
28 Of Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, thus says the LORD: Rise up, attack Kedar, ravage the Easterners.	28 A Cedar e os reinos de Asor, vencidos por Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia. Eis o que diz o Senhor: Erguei-vos! Atacai Cedar! Aniquilai os filhos do oriente!
29 Their tents and herds shall be taken away, their tent curtains and all their goods; Their camels they shall carry off for themselves, and shout from upon them, "Terror on every side!"	29 Sejam-lhes as tendas arrebatadas e os rebanhos! E que se lhes tirem os pavilhões, bagagens e camelos ao grito de: Que o terror se espalhe!
30 Flee! leave your homes, hide in deep holes, you that live in Hazor, says the LORD; For counsel has been taken against you, a plan has been formed against you (Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon).	30 Salvai-vos! Fugi a toda pressa, ocultai-vos em esconderijos, habitantes de Asor - oráculo do Senhor.
31 Rise up! set out against a nation that is at peace, that lives secure, says the LORD, That has no gates or bars, and dwells alone.	31 Erguei-vos! Atacai um povo pacífico que vive em segurança - oráculo do Senhor - e que habita sozinho, sem portas nem ferrolhos.
32 Their camels shall be your booty, their many herds your spoil; I will scatter to the winds those who shave their temples, from all sides I will bring ruin upon them, says the LORD.	32 Sejam seus camelos a vossa presa e seus rebanhos numerosos o vosso espólio! Espalharei por todos os ventos esses homens de cabelos raspados, e de toda parte lançarei sobre eles a desgraça, - oráculo do Senhor.
33 Hazor shall become a haunt of jackals, a desert forever, Where no man lives, no human being stays.	33 Asor tornar-se-á guarida de chacais, eterna solidão onde ninguém mais habitará, e onde doravante nenhum ser humano permanecerá.
34 The following word of the LORD against Elam came to the prophet Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah:	34 Palavra do Senhor dirigida ao profeta Jeremias acerca de Elão, no começo do reinado de Sedecias, rei de Judá, nestes termos:
35 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.	35 Eis o que diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Vou quebrar o arco de Elão, e o melhor de sua força.
36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four ends of the heavens: I will scatter them to all these winds, till there is no nation to which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.	36 Mandarei vir sobre Elão os quatro ventos, dos quatro cantos do céu. E esses ventos os dispersarei. Não haverá nação onde não cheguem fugitivos de Elão.
37 I will break Elam before their foes, before those who seek their life; I will bring evil upon them, my burning wrath, says the LORD. I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely made an end of them;	37 Farei tremer os elamitas diante de seus inimigos, e ante aqueles que tramam contra sua vida; precipitarei calamidades sobre eles: o fogo de minha cólera - oráculo do Senhor - e lançarei sobre eles a espada até que sejam exterminados.
38 My throne I will set up in Elam and destroy from there king and princes, says the LORD.	38 Colocarei meu trono em Elão, e mandarei matar o rei e os chefes - oráculo do Senhor.
39 But in the days to come I will change the lot of Elam, says the LORD.	39 Com o correr dos tempos, porém, mudarei a sorte de Elão - oráculo do Senhor.
