1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? Why then has Milcom disinherited Gad, why have his people settled in Gad's cities?	1 A' figliuoli di Ammon. Queste cose dice il Signore: Israele non ha egli forse figli, od è egli privo di erede? Per qual motivo adunque si è egli Melchom fatto padrone dì Gad, e il popolo di lui abita nelle città di Gad?
2 But the days are coming, says the LORD, when against Rabbah of the Ammonites I will sound the battle alarm; She shall become a mound of ruins, and her daughter cities shall be destroyed by fire. Israel shall inherit those who disinherited her, says the LORD.	2 Per questo viene il tempo, dice il Signore, quand'io farò udire in Rabbatti de' figliuoli di Ammon il romore della guerra, ed ella atterrata, sarà un mucchio di sassi, e le sue figlie saran date alle fiamme, e Israele sarà Signore di quelli, che lo signoreggiavano, dice il Signore.
3 Howl, Heshbon, for the ravager approaches, shriek, daughters of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn, run to and fro, gashing yourselves; For Milcom goes into exile along with his priests and captains.	3 Getta urli, o Hesebon, perchè Hai è stata distrutta. Alzate le grida figliuoli di Rabbath, vestitevi di cilizi: sospirate, e aggiratevi intorno alle siepi, perchè Melchom cambierà paese, e i sacerdoti di lei, e i suoi principi insieme.
4 Why do you glory in your strength, your ebbing strength, rebellious daughter? You who trust in your treasures, saying, "Who can come against me?"	4 Perchè ti vanti delle tue valli? Le tue valli son desolate, o figlia nutrita nelle delizie, che avevi fidanza ne' tuoi tesori, e dicevi: Chi verrà contro di me?
5 I am bringing terror upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all round about you; You shall be scattered, each man in headlong flight, with no one to rally the fugitives.	5 Ecco che io (dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti) farò, che a te diano spavento tutti quelli, che ti stanno all'intorno, e sarete dispersi l'uno lontan dalla vista dell'altro, né sarà chi i fuggitivi raduni.
6 But afterward I will change the lot of the Ammonites, says the LORD.	6 E dopo questo io farò, che ritornino i figliuoli di Ammon, dice il Signore.
7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman, has counsel perished from the prudent, has their wisdom become corrupt?	7 Contro l'Idumea. Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: Non è adunque più saggezza in Theman? I suoi figli sono senza consiglio, la loro saggezza non è buona a nulla.
8 Flee, retreat, hide in deep holes, you who live in Dedan: For I will bring destruction upon Esau when I come to punish him.	8 Fuggite, non guardate in dietro, sprofondatevi nelle caverne, o abitanti di Dedan: perocché io ho mandato sopra Esaù la sua perdizione, il tempo del suo gastigo.
9 If vintagers came upon you, they would leave no gleanings; If thieves by night, they would destroy as they pleased.	9 Se fosser venuti a te de' vendemmiatori, non avrebbon essi lasciato qualche grappolo. Se fosser venuti de' ladri, avrebbon rubato quanto loro bastasse.
10 So I myself will strip Esau; I will uncover his retreats so that he cannot hide. He is ruined: sons, and brothers, and neighbors, so that he is no more.	10 Ma io ho discoperto Esaù, ho tratto fuori quel, ch'ei teneva nascosto, e non potrà più celarlo: è sterminata la sua stirpe, i fratelli, i vicini, ed ei più non sarà.
11 Leave your orphans behind, I will keep them alive; your widows, let them trust in me.	11 Lascia i tuoi pupilli: io li farò vivere; e le tue vedove in me spereranno;
12 For thus says the LORD: Even those not sentenced to drink the cup must drink it! Shall you then go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished; you shall surely drink it.	12 Perocché queste cose dice il Signore: Ecco che quelli, pe' quali non era destinato di bere il calice, pur lo berranno assolutamente: e tu sarai lasciato a parte quasi innocente? Tu non sarai innocente, e lo berai assolutamente;
13 By my own self I have sworn, says the LORD: Bozrah shall become an object of horror and a disgrace, a desolation and a curse; she and all her cities shall become ruins forever.	13 Imperocché per me medesimo io ho giurato, dice il Signore, che Bosra sarà devastata, ridotta all'obbrobrio, e deserta, e maledetta, e tutte le sue città saranno solitudine eterna.
14 I have heard a report from the LORD, a herald has been sent among the nations: Gather together, move against her, rise up for battle.	14 Questa cosa udii io dal Signore, e n'è stata mandata l'ambasciata alle genti. Raunatevi, e venite contro Bosra, e andiamo a combatterla:
15 Small will I make you among the nations, despised among men!	15 Imperocché piccolo ti feci io tralle genti, e dispregevole tragli uomini.
16 The terror you spread beguiled you, and your presumption of heart; You that live in rocky crags, that hold the heights of the hill: Though you build your nest high as the eagle, from there I will drag you down, says the LORD.	16 L'arroganza tua, e la superbia del tuo cuore ingannò te, te che abiti nelle caverne de massi, e tenti di alzarti fino alla vetta del monte. Quando tu facessi il tuo nido più in alto, che l'aquila, indi io ti trarrò fuora, dice il Signore.
17 Edom shall become an object of horror. Every passer-by shall be appalled and catch his breath at all her wounds.	17 E l'Idumea sarà deserta: chiunque vi passerà, resterà stupefatto, e insulterà a tutte le sue piaghe.
18 As when Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighbors were overthrown, says the LORD, not a man shall dwell there: no one shall visit there.	18 Come fu atterrata Sodoma, e Gomorra, e le sue vicine, dice il Signore, ella non sarà abitata da uomo, né un figliuolo dell'uomo vi porrà stanza.
19 As when a lion comes up from the thicket of Jordan to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in an instant, will drive men off; and whom I choose I will establish there! For who is like me? who can call me to account? What shepherd can stand against me?	19 Ecco uno, che quasi leone dal gonfio Giordano va sopra alla beltà robusta: perocché io farò, che egli a lei corra subitamente: e quai sono gli uomini eletti, che io le darò per difesa? perocché chi è simile a me? chi a me si opporrà? E qual è il pastore, che sostener possa il mio volto?
20 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD, which he has taken against Edom; Hear the plans he has made against those that live in Teman: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep, their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	20 Udite adunque il disegno, che il Signore ha formato intorno ad Edom; e quello, che egli ha risoluto intorno agli abitatori di Theman: Io giuro, che i pargoletti del gregge il getteranno per terra, e dissiperanno con essi le loro abitazioni.
21 At the noise of their fall the earth quakes, to the Red Sea the outcry is heard!	21 Al romore di lor rovina si è smossa la terra, le voci loro, e i clamori si son sentiti nel rosso mare.
22 See! like an eagle he soars aloft, and spreads his wings over Bozrah; On that day the hearts of Edom's heroes shall be like the heart of a woman in travail.Concerning Damascus:	22 Verrà, e alzerà il volo com'aquila e spanderà le ali sue sopra Bosra: e il cuore de' forti dell'Idumea sarà in quel di come il cuore di una donna, che partorisce.
23 Hamath and Arpad are covered with shame, they have heard bad news; Worried, they toss like the sea which cannot rest.	23 Contro Damasco: Emath, e Arphad sono confuse; perocché pessima novella hanno udito: quelli del mare sono turbati; L'inquietudine toglie loro il riposo.
24 Damascus is weakened, she turns to flee, panic has seized her. Distress and pangs take hold of her, like those of a woman in travail.	24 Damasco è sbigottita, si è data alla fuga, ella è tutta in tremore: l'affanno, e i dolori la premono come donna, che partorisce.
25 How can the city of glory be forsaken, the town of delight!	25 Come hann'eglino abbandonata la città celebre, la città deliziosa?
26 But now her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her warriors shall be stilled. On that day, says the LORD of hosts,	26 La sua gioventù caderà per le piazze, e tutti i guerrieri saranno senza parola in quel giorno, dice il Signor egli eserciti.
27 I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.	27 E appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Damasco, e divorerà le muraglie di Benadad.
28 Of Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, thus says the LORD: Rise up, attack Kedar, ravage the Easterners.	28 Contro Cedar, e contro i regni di Asor abbattuti da Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia. Queste cose dice il Signore: Alzatevi, andate contro Cedar, e sterminate i figli dell'Oriente.
29 Their tents and herds shall be taken away, their tent curtains and all their goods; Their camels they shall carry off for themselves, and shout from upon them, "Terror on every side!"	29 Saccheggeranno le loro tende, e i loro greggi: si prenderanno le loro pelli, e tutti i loro arnesi, e i loro cammelli; e porteranno sopra di loro lo spavento da ogni parte.
30 Flee! leave your homes, hide in deep holes, you that live in Hazor, says the LORD; For counsel has been taken against you, a plan has been formed against you (Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon).	30 Fuggite, scappate lungi, riposatevi nelle caverne, abitatori di Asor, dice il Signore; imperocché contro di voi ha formati disegni, macchina contro di voi Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia.
31 Rise up! set out against a nation that is at peace, that lives secure, says the LORD, That has no gates or bars, and dwells alone.	31 Or voi alzatevi, andate ad invadere una nazione tranquilla, che vive senza timori, dice il Signore, non hanno porte, né chiavi; abitan solitari.
32 Their camels shall be your booty, their many herds your spoil; I will scatter to the winds those who shave their temples, from all sides I will bring ruin upon them, says the LORD.	32 Voi rapirete i loro cammelli, e la moltitudine de' lor giumenti sarà vostra preda. Io dispergerò a tutti i venti costoro, che tosano i loro capelli a modo di corona, e da tutti i loro confini farò, che venga contro di essi la morte, dice il Signore.
33 Hazor shall become a haunt of jackals, a desert forever, Where no man lives, no human being stays.	33 E Asor diventerà tana di dragoni, sarà deserta in eterno: non resteravvi uomo, né figliuolo di uomo vi porrà stanza.
34 The following word of the LORD against Elam came to the prophet Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah:	34 Parola detta dal Signore al profeta Geremia contro di Elam al principio del regno di Sedecia re di Giuda:
35 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.	35 Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, che io spezzerò l'arco di Elam, e il principio di lor possanza.
36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four ends of the heavens: I will scatter them to all these winds, till there is no nation to which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.	36 E scatenerò contro Elam quattro venti dai quattro punti del cielo: e gli spergerò a tutti questi venti, e non saravvi nazione, dove non arrivino i fuggitivi di Elam.
37 I will break Elam before their foes, before those who seek their life; I will bring evil upon them, my burning wrath, says the LORD. I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely made an end of them;	37 E farò, che tremi Elam in faccia a' suoi nemici, e al cospetto di color, che vogliono la sua perdizione. Manderò sciagure sopra di loro, l'ira mia furibonda, dice il Signore, e manderò dietro ad essi la spada fino ch'io gli abbia consunti.
38 My throne I will set up in Elam and destroy from there king and princes, says the LORD.	38 E porrò il mio trono in Elam, e di là scaccerò i regi, e i principi, dice il Signore.
39 But in the days to come I will change the lot of Elam, says the LORD.	39 Ma neg]i ultimi giorni farò, che tornino i prigionieri di Elam, dice il Signore.
