1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? Why then has Milcom disinherited Gad, why have his people settled in Gad's cities?	1 Ai figli di Ammon così dice il Signore: "Israele non ha forse figli, ovvero non ha erede? Perché Milcom ha ereditato Gad e il suo popolo tra le sue città si è stabilito?
2 But the days are coming, says the LORD, when against Rabbah of the Ammonites I will sound the battle alarm; She shall become a mound of ruins, and her daughter cities shall be destroyed by fire. Israel shall inherit those who disinherited her, says the LORD.	2 Pertanto ecco: verranno giorni, oracolo del Signore, in cui farò udire contro Rabbà degli Ammoniti l'urrà di guerra e sarà un cumulo di desolazione, mentre le sue dipendenze con fuoco saranno arse. 3 Howl, Heshbon, for the ravager approaches, shriek, daughters of Rabbah! 5 I am bringing terror upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all round about you; You shall be scattered, each man in headlong flight, with no one to rally the fugitives.	5 Ecco: io farò piombare su di te il terrore, oracolo del Signore degli eserciti, da tutti i tuoi dintorni e sarete espulsi ciascuno per la sua via e non ci sarà chi raccolga il disperso.
6 But afterward I will change the lot of the Ammonites, says the LORD.	6 Ma dopo ciò restaurerò la sorte dei figli di Ammon". Oracolo del Signore.
7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman, has counsel perished from the prudent, has their wisdom become corrupt?	7 A Edom così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Non c'è più, forse, sapienza in Teman, è scomparso il consiglio dai figli dei saggi, è svanita la sapienza loro?
8 Flee, retreat, hide in deep holes, you who live in Dedan: For I will bring destruction upon Esau when I come to punish him.	8 Fuggite, tornate indietro, rifugiatevi in luoghi nascosti, o abitanti di Dedan, perché farò piombare la rovina su Esaù quando lo punirò.
9 If vintagers came upon you, they would leave no gleanings; If thieves by night, they would destroy as they pleased.	9 Se dei vendemmiatori venissero a te, non lascerebbero resti; se ladri nella notte, saccheggerebbero quanto loro necessita.
10 So I myself will strip Esau; I will uncover his retreats so that he cannot hide. He is ruined: sons, and brothers, and neighbors, so that he is no more.	10 Sì, io ho denudato Esaù, ho scoperto i suoi nascondigli, cosicché non può più nascondersi. Sarà distrutta la sua discendenza, i fratelli suoi e i suoi vicini, e lui non esisterà più.
11 Leave your orphans behind, I will keep them alive; your widows, let them trust in me.	11 Abbandona gli orfani tuoi, io li farò vivere, e le vedove tue su di me confidino".
12 For thus says the LORD: Even those not sentenced to drink the cup must drink it! Shall you then go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished; you shall surely drink it.	12 Sì, così dice il Signore: "Ecco, chi non aveva diritto a bere il calice l'ha bevuto del tutto, e tu vorresti dichiararti innocente? Non sarai innocente, ma lo berrai completamente.
13 By my own self I have sworn, says the LORD: Bozrah shall become an object of horror and a disgrace, a desolation and a curse; she and all her cities shall become ruins forever.	13 Infatti per me ho giurato, oracolo del Signore, che Bozra sarà una devastazione, una vergogna, una rovina e una maledizione, e tutte le sue città saranno rovine perpetue".
14 I have heard a report from the LORD, a herald has been sent among the nations: Gather together, move against her, rise up for battle.	14 Un messaggio ho udito da parte del Signore e un messaggero tra le nazioni è stato inviato: "Radunatevi e venite contro di essa; alzatevi per la battaglia.
15 Small will I make you among the nations, despised among men!	15 Sì, ecco: piccolo ti rendo tra le nazioni, spregevole tra gli uomini.
16 The terror you spread beguiled you, and your presumption of heart; You that live in rocky crags, that hold the heights of the hill: Though you build your nest high as the eagle, from there I will drag you down, says the LORD.	16 La tua fierezza ti ha sedotto, la superbia del tuo cuore, o tu che dimori tra le fenditure della roccia, o tu che raggiungi la vetta del colle! Quand'anche ponessi in alto, come aquila, il tuo nido, di là ti farò scendere. Oracolo del Signore.
17 Edom shall become an object of horror. Every passer-by shall be appalled and catch his breath at all her wounds.	17 Edom, dunque, sarà del tutto devastato: chiunque l'attraversa si stupirà e fischierà per tutte le sue ferite,
18 As when Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighbors were overthrown, says the LORD, not a man shall dwell there: no one shall visit there.	18 come per lo sconvolgimento di Sodoma e Gomorra e dei suoi vicini, dice il Signore, dove non abita più alcuno, né figlio d'uomo più vi dimora.
19 As when a lion comes up from the thicket of Jordan to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in an instant, will drive men off; and whom I choose I will establish there! For who is like me? who can call me to account? What shepherd can stand against me?	19 Ecco: come un leone che ascende dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso un pascolo rigoglioso, improvvisamente lo farò fuggire di là e porrò su di esso il mio eletto. Chi, infatti, è come me e chi mi può sfidare? Chi è quel pastore che può starmi contro?
20 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD, which he has taken against Edom; Hear the plans he has made against those that live in Teman: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep, their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	20 Perciò ascoltate il consiglio che il Signore ha deciso contro Edom e i progetti che ha fatto contro gli abitanti di Teman: Saranno trascinati anche i piccoli del gregge, sarà devastato dietro di essi il loro pascolo!
21 At the noise of their fall the earth quakes, to the Red Sea the outcry is heard!	21 Per il rumore della loro caduta tremerà il paese, il grido, fino al Mar Rosso, farà udire la sua eco!
22 See! like an eagle he soars aloft, and spreads his wings over Bozrah; On that day the hearts of Edom's heroes shall be like the heart of a woman in travail.Concerning Damascus:	22 Ecco: come aquila ascende e si libra e spiega le sue ali sopra Bozra, cosicché il cuore degli eroi di Esaù sarà in quel giorno come il cuore di una donna in doglie".
23 Hamath and Arpad are covered with shame, they have heard bad news; Worried, they toss like the sea which cannot rest.	23 Su Damasco: "Vergognose sono Camat e Arpad, perché una notizia cattiva hanno udito: si agitano come il mare per lo spavento, non riescono a star tranquilli.
24 Damascus is weakened, she turns to flee, panic has seized her. Distress and pangs take hold of her, like those of a woman in travail.	24 E' fiaccata Damasco, è stata travolta in fuga e un tremito l'ha afferrata; angustia e dolori l'han colta come partoriente.

28 Of Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, thus says the LORD: Rise up, attack Kedar, ravage the Easterners.	28 Su Kedàr e sui regni di Azòr che Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, aveva sconfitto, così dice il Signore: "Alzatevi, salite contro Kedàr e devastate i figli d'oriente.
29 Their tents and herds shall be taken away, their tent curtains and all their goods; Their camels they shall carry off for themselves, and shout from upon them, "Terror on every side!"	29 Le loro tende e i greggi loro siano presi, i loro teli, tutti i loro utensili e i loro cammelli siano loro portati via, si gridi contro di essi: "Terrore all'intorno!".

34 The following word of the LORD against Elam came to the prophet Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah:	34 Parola del Signore, rivolta al profeta Geremia, contro Elam, all'inizio del regno di Sedecia, re di Giuda.
35 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.	35 "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, sto per infrangere l'arco di Elam, primizia della sua potenza!
36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four ends of the heavens: I will scatter them to all these winds, till there is no nation to which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.	36 Farò venire contro Elam quattro venti dalle quattro parti del cielo e li disperderò davanti a quei venti; non ci sarà nazione dove non giungano i dispersi di Elam.
37 I will break Elam before their foes, before those who seek their life; I will bring evil upon them, my burning wrath, says the LORD. I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely made an end of them;	37 Io farò spaventare Elam di fronte ai suoi nemici e di fronte a chi cerca la loro vita; e farò piombare su di loro una sventura, l'ardore della mia ira.
