1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? Why then has Milcom disinherited Gad, why have his people settled in Gad's cities?	1 Pour les fils d’Ammon. Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Israël n’a-t-il pas de fils? N’a-t-il pas d’héritiers? Pourquoi Milkom a-t-il hérité du pays de Gad, pourquoi son peuple en occupe-t-il les villes?
2 But the days are coming, says the LORD, when against Rabbah of the Ammonites I will sound the battle alarm; She shall become a mound of ruins, and her daughter cities shall be destroyed by fire. Israel shall inherit those who disinherited her, says the LORD.	2 Eh bien, dit Yahvé, le jour vient où l’on entendra le cri de guerre dans Rabba des Ammonites; elle ne sera plus qu’une ruine déserte et ses villages seront incendiés. 5 I am bringing terror upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all round about you; You shall be scattered, each man in headlong flight, with no one to rally the fugitives.	5 Eh bien, je t’amène de tous les côtés la terreur. Je ferai que chacun se sauve de son côté, et personne ne rassemblera les fuyards.
6 But afterward I will change the lot of the Ammonites, says the LORD.	6 Mais ensuite je ramènerai les exilés d’Ammon - parole de Yahvé.
7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman, has counsel perished from the prudent, has their wisdom become corrupt?	7 Pour Édom. Voici ce que dit Yahvé Sabaot: Où donc est passée la sagesse de Téman? Ses fils n’ont-ils rien à proposer? Leur sagesse s’est-elle envolée?
8 Flee, retreat, hide in deep holes, you who live in Dedan: For I will bring destruction upon Esau when I come to punish him.	8 Fuyez, tournez le dos, habitants de Dédan, car c’est mon heure de visiter Ésaü, je lui amène le fléau.
9 If vintagers came upon you, they would leave no gleanings; If thieves by night, they would destroy as they pleased.	9 Si les vendangeurs passent chez toi, ils ne laisseront rien à grappiller. Si ce sont des voleurs de nuit, ils saccageront tout à leur guise.
10 So I myself will strip Esau; I will uncover his retreats so that he cannot hide. He is ruined: sons, and brothers, and neighbors, so that he is no more.	10 Oui je viens fouiller Ésaü, je mettrai à nu ses repaires; il n’aura plus où se cacher. Sa race est détruite, elle n’est plus. Pas un frère, pas un voisin pour dire:
11 Leave your orphans behind, I will keep them alive; your widows, let them trust in me.	11 Laisse-moi tes orphelins, je les ferai vivre, tes veuves pourront compter sur moi!
12 For thus says the LORD: Even those not sentenced to drink the cup must drink it! Shall you then go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished; you shall surely drink it.	12 Car voici ce que dit Yahvé: Ceux qui ne devaient pas boire la coupe maintenant la boivent, et toi, tu passerais au travers? Mais non, tu la boiras!
13 By my own self I have sworn, says the LORD: Bozrah shall become an object of horror and a disgrace, a desolation and a curse; she and all her cities shall become ruins forever.	13 Car je l’ai juré par moi-même, dit Yahvé, Bosra deviendra un objet d’étonnement et de moquerie, une ruine et une malédiction; ses villages seront ruinés pour toujours.
14 I have heard a report from the LORD, a herald has been sent among the nations: Gather together, move against her, rise up for battle.	14 Nous venons d’entendre un appel de Yahvé, un message qu’il fait parvenir aux nations: “Debout! Partons en guerre contre lui!” C’en est fait!
15 Small will I make you among the nations, despised among men!	15 Te voilà le dernier des peuples, le plus méprisé de tous.
16 The terror you spread beguiled you, and your presumption of heart; You that live in rocky crags, that hold the heights of the hill: Though you build your nest high as the eagle, from there I will drag you down, says the LORD.	16 La terreur que tu inspirais et l’orgueil de ton cœur, t’ont fait perdre la tête, toi qui habites au creux de La Roche, accroché au sommet des collines. Tu peux élever ton nid comme l’aigle, je t’en ferai descendre - parole de Yahvé.
17 Edom shall become an object of horror. Every passer-by shall be appalled and catch his breath at all her wounds.	17 Édom sera un objet d’épouvante, les passants s’étonneront et siffleront en voyant ses plaies;
18 As when Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighbors were overthrown, says the LORD, not a man shall dwell there: no one shall visit there.	18 il sera comme Sodome, ou Gomorrhe et les villes d’alentour après la catastrophe, dit Yahvé. Nul n’y habitera, les humains n’y séjourneront plus.
19 As when a lion comes up from the thicket of Jordan to the permanent feeding grounds, So I, in an instant, will drive men off; and whom I choose I will establish there! For who is like me? who can call me to account? What shepherd can stand against me?	19 Comme le lion qui monte des fourrés du Jourdain vers les pâturages, moi aussi d’un seul coup je serai sur ses prairies, je les mettrai en fuite. Car qui est mon égal? Qui pourrait se dresser contre moi, quel est le berger qui me tiendrait tête?
20 Therefore, hear the counsel of the LORD, which he has taken against Edom; Hear the plans he has made against those that live in Teman: They shall be dragged away, even the smallest sheep, their own pasture shall be aghast because of them.	20 Écoutez donc la décision que Yahvé a prise contre Édom, ses projets contre les habitants de Téman: on fera main basse sur toutes les brebis, jusqu’aux plus efflanquées, et leur pâturage ne s’en remettra pas.

22 See! like an eagle he soars aloft, and spreads his wings over Bozrah; On that day the hearts of Edom's heroes shall be like the heart of a woman in travail.Concerning Damascus:	22 Voyez cet aigle qui monte et qui tourne; voici qu’il étend ses ailes au-dessus de Bosra. Le cœur des guerriers d’Édom, ce jour-là, sera bien pareil à celui d’une femme qui enfante.

28 Of Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, defeated by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, thus says the LORD: Rise up, attack Kedar, ravage the Easterners.	28 Voici ce que dit Yahvé pour Kédar et le royaume de Haçor, que Nabukodonozor roi de Babel a vaincus: Levez-vous, combattez contre Kédar, exterminez les fils de l’Orient!
29 Their tents and herds shall be taken away, their tent curtains and all their goods; Their camels they shall carry off for themselves, and shout from upon them, "Terror on every side!"	29 Prenez leurs tentes et leurs moutons, leurs toiles et tout leur matériel. Prenez leurs chameaux et criez sur eux: “Terreur de partout!”
30 Flee! leave your homes, hide in deep holes, you that live in Hazor, says the LORD; For counsel has been taken against you, a plan has been formed against you (Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon).	30 Fuyez, sauvez-vous, habitants de Haçor - parole de Yahvé. Car Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone, a déjà son plan, il a un projet contre vous:
31 Rise up! set out against a nation that is at peace, that lives secure, says the LORD, That has no gates or bars, and dwells alone.	31 “Attaquons une nation tranquille qui habite en sécurité; Elle n’a ni portes, ni verrous, elle habite à l’écart.
32 Their camels shall be your booty, their many herds your spoil; I will scatter to the winds those who shave their temples, from all sides I will bring ruin upon them, says the LORD.	32 Leurs chameaux sont à prendre, leurs moutons sans nombre seront notre butin!” Je vais les semer à tous les vents, ces hommes aux tempes rasées; de partout viendra sur eux le malheur - parole de Yahvé.
33 Hazor shall become a haunt of jackals, a desert forever, Where no man lives, no human being stays.	33 Haçor ne sera plus qu’un gîte de chacals, un désert pour toujours; nul désormais n’y habitera, aucun humain n’y séjournera.
34 The following word of the LORD against Elam came to the prophet Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah:	34 Voici la parole de Yahvé qui fut adressée au prophète Jérémie à propos d’Élam, au début du règne de Sédécias roi de Juda.
35 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.	35 Voici ce que dit Yahvé Sabaot: Je vais briser l’arc d’Élam, le ressort de sa puissance.
36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four ends of the heavens: I will scatter them to all these winds, till there is no nation to which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.	36 Des quatre coins du ciel je fais venir, contre Élam, les quatre vents, et je disperse les Élamites à tous ces vents; il n’y aura pas de nation où n’arrivent les gens d’Élam.
37 I will break Elam before their foes, before those who seek their life; I will bring evil upon them, my burning wrath, says the LORD. I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely made an end of them;	37 Je ferai trembler les Élamites devant leurs ennemis, devant ceux qui en veulent à leur vie; je ferai venir sur eux le malheur car ma colère s’enflammera - parole de Yahvé. J’enverrai derrière eux l’épée, jusqu’à leur extermination.
38 My throne I will set up in Elam and destroy from there king and princes, says the LORD.	38 J’établirai mon trône en Élam et j’en arracherai ses rois et ses princes - parole de Yahvé,
39 But in the days to come I will change the lot of Elam, says the LORD.	39 mais à la fin des jours je ramènerai les prisonniers d’Élam - parole de Yahvé.
