1 Better is childlessness with virtue; for immortal is its memory: because both by God is it acknowledged, and by men.	1 Mejor es carencia de hijos acompañada de virtud, pues hay inmortalidad en su recuerdo, porque es conocida por Dios y por los hombres;
2 When it is present men imitate it, and they long for it when it is gone; And forever it marches crowned in triumph, victorious in unsullied deeds of valor.	2 presente, la imitan, ausente, la añoran; en la eternidad, ceñida de una corona, celebra su triunfo porque venció en la lucha por premios incorruptibles.
3 But the numerous progeny of the wicked shall be of no avail; their spurious offshoots shall not strike deep root nor take firm hold.	3 En cambio, la numerosa prole de los impíos será inútil; viniendo de renuevos bastardos, no echará raíces profundas ni se asentará sobre fundamento sólido.
4 For even though their branches flourish for a time, they are unsteady and shall be rocked by the wind and, by the violence of the winds, uprooted;	4 Aunque despliegue por su tiempo su ramaje, precariamente arraigada, será sacudida por el viento, arrancada de raíz por la furia del vendaval;
5 Their twigs shall be broken off untimely, and their fruit be useless, unripe for eating, and fit for nothing.	5 se quebrarán sus ramas todavía tiernas, inútiles serán sus frutos, sin sazón para comerlos, para nada servirán.
6 For children born of lawless unions give evidence of the wickedness of their parents, when they are examined.	6 Que los hijos nacidos de sueños culpables son testigos, en su examen, de la maldad de los padres.
7 But the just man, though he die early, shall be at rest.	7 El justo, aunque muera prematuramente, halla el descanso.
8 For the age that is honorable comes not with the passing of time, nor can it be measured in terms of years.	8 La ancianidad venerable no es la de los muchos días ni se mide por el número de años;
9 Rather, understanding is the hoary crown for men, and an unsullied life, the attainment of old age.	9 la verdadera canicie para el hombre es la prudencia, y la edad provecta, una vida inmaculada.
10 He who pleased God was loved; he who lived among sinners was transported--	10 Agradó a Dios y fue amado, y como vivía entre pecadores, fue trasladado.
11 Snatched away, lest wickedness pervert his mind or deceit beguile his soul;	11 Fue arrebatado para que la maldad no pervitiera su inteligencia o el engaño sedujera su alma;
12 For the witchery of paltry things obscures what is right and the whirl of desire transforms the innocent mind.	12 pues la fascinación del mal empaña el bien y los vaivenes de la concupiscencia corrompen el espíritu ingenuo.
13 Having become perfect in a short while, he reached the fullness of a long career;	13 Alcanzando en breve la perfección, llenó largos años.
14 for his soul was pleasing to the LORD, therefore he sped him out of the midst of wickedness. But the people saw and did not understand, nor did they take this into account.	14 Su alma era del agrado del Señor, por eso se apresuró a sacarle de entre la maldad. Lo ven las gentes y no comprenden, ni caen en cuenta
15	15 que la gracia y la misericordia son para sus elegidos y su visita para sus santos.
16 Yes, the just man dead condemns the sinful who live, and youth swiftly completed condemns the many years of the wicked man grown old.	16 El justo muerto condena a los impíos vivos, y la juventud pronto consumada, la larga ancianidad del inicuo.
17 For they see the death of the wise man and do not understand what the LORD intended for him, or why he made him secure.	17 Ven la muerte del sabio, mas no comprenden los planes del Señor sobre él ni por qué le ha puesto en seguridad;
18 They see, and hold him in contempt; but the LORD laughs them to scorn.	18 lo ven y lo desprecian, pero el Señor se reirá de ellos.
19 And they shall afterward become dishonored corpses and an unceasing mockery among the dead. For he shall strike them down speechless and prostrate and rock them to their foundations; They shall be utterly laid waste and shall be in grief and their memory shall perish.	19 Después serán cadáveres despreciables, objeto de ultraje entre los muertos para siempre. Porque el Señor los quebrará lanzándolos de cabeza, sin habla, los sacudirá de sus cimientos; quedarán totalmentes asolados, sumidos en el dolor, y su recuerdo se perderá.
20 Fearful shall they come, at the counting up of their sins, and their lawless deeds shall convict them to their face.	20 Al tiempo de dar cuenta de sus pecados irán acobardados, y sus iniquidades se les enfrentarán acusándoles.
