For the leader; "upon the gittith." A psalm of the Korahites. | 1 In finem, filiis Core. Psalmus. |
How lovely your dwelling, O LORD of hosts! | 2 Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam ; avertisti captivitatem Jacob. |
My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God. | 3 Remisisti iniquitatem plebis tuæ ; operuisti omnia peccata eorum. |
As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God! | 4 Mitigasti omnem iram tuam ; avertisti ab ira indignationis tuæ. |
Happy are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Selah | 5 Converte nos, Deus salutaris noster, et averte iram tuam a nobis. |
Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads. | 6 Numquid in æternum irasceris nobis ? aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem ? |
As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. Also from pools the Lord provides water for those who lose their way. | 7 Deus, tu conversus vivificabis nos, et plebs tua lætabitur in te. |
They pass through outer and inner wall and see the God of gods on Zion. | 8 Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam, et salutare tuum da nobis. |
LORD of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah | 9 Audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus, quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam, et super sanctos suos, et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor. |
O God, look kindly on our shield; look upon the face of your anointed. | 10 Verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius, ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra. |
Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked. | 11 Misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi ; justitia et pax osculatæ sunt. |
For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach. | 12 Veritas de terra orta est, et justitia de cælo prospexit. |
O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you! | 13 Etenim Dominus dabit benignitatem, et terra nostra dabit fructum suum. |
Justitia ante eum ambulabit, et ponet in via gressus suos. |
