Psalms 41

1 For the leader. A psalm of David.	1 Al maestro di coro. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 Happy those concerned for the lowly and poor; when misfortune strikes, the LORD delivers them.	2 Beato colui che è sollecito del misero: nel giorno della sventura lo libererà il Signore.
3 The LORD keeps and preserves them, makes them happy in the land, and does not betray them to their enemies.	3 Il Signore lo custodirà e gli darà vita, lo farà felice sulla terra e non lo abbandonerà alle brame dei suoi nemici.
4 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed, allays the malady when they are ill.	4 Il Signore lo sosterrà sul letto del dolore, nella sua infermità tu rovesci il suo giaciglio.
5 Once I prayed, "LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, I have sinned against you.	5 Io ho detto: "Guarisci l'anima mia, poiché ho peccato contro di te".
6 My enemies say the worst of me: 'When will that one die and be forgotten?'	6 I miei nemici mi augurano del male: "Quando morrà e sarà estirpato il suo nome?".
7 When people come to visit me, they speak without sincerity. Their hearts store up malice; they leave and spread their vicious lies.	7 Se uno viene a farmi visita, falsità parla il suo cuore; raccoglie per sé indizi funesti, esce fuori e sparla.
8 My foes all whisper against me; they imagine the worst about me:	8 D'accordo sussurrano contro di me quanti mi odiano, facendo su di me previsioni funeste:
9 I have a deadly disease, they say; I will never rise from my sickbed.	9 "Un male pernicioso s'è riversato su di lui; lui che giace infermo mai più si alzerà".
10 Even the friend who had my trust, who shared my table, has scorned me.	10 Anche il mio intimo amico, quello in cui io nutrivo fiducia, quello che mangiava il mio stesso pane, ha alzato il calcagno contro di me.
11 But you, LORD, have mercy and raise me up that I may repay them as they deserve."	11 Ma tu, o Signore, abbi di me pietà, fa' che io mi alzi e possa ripagar loro quanto si meritano.
12 By this I know you are pleased with me, that my enemy no longer jeers at me.	12 In questo io conosco che tu mi vuoi bene, se il mio nemico non trionferà su di me.
13 For my integrity you have supported me and let me stand in your presence forever.	13 Quanto a me, nella mia innocenza mi sosterrai e alla tua presenza mi farai stare per sempre.
14 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from all eternity and forever. Amen. Amen.	14 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d'Israele, da sempre e per sempre. Amen, amen.
