¹ A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all his anxious care;	¹ Canto delle salite.Ricòrdati, Signore, di Davide,di tutte le sue fatiche,
² How he swore an oath to the LORD, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:	² quando giurò al Signore,al Potente di Giacobbe fece voto:
³ "I will not enter the house where I live, nor lie on the couch where I sleep;	³ «Non entrerò nella tenda in cui abito,non mi stenderò sul letto del mio riposo,
⁴ I will give my eyes no sleep, my eyelids no rest,	⁴ non concederò sonno ai miei occhiné riposo alle mie palpebre,
⁵ Till I find a home for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."	⁵ finché non avrò trovato un luogo per il Signore,una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe».
⁶ "We have heard of it in Ephrathah; we have found it in the fields of Jaar.	⁶ Ecco, abbiamo saputo che era in Èfrata,l’abbiamo trovata nei campi di Iaar.
⁷ Let us enter God's dwelling; let us worship at God's footstool."	⁷ Entriamo nella sua dimora,prostriamoci allo sgabello dei suoi piedi.
⁸ "Arise, LORD, come to your resting place, you and your majestic ark.	⁸ Sorgi, Signore, verso il luogo del tuo riposo,tu e l’arca della tua potenza.
⁹ Your priests will be clothed with justice; your faithful will shout for joy."	⁹ I tuoi sacerdoti si rivestano di giustiziaed esultino i tuoi fedeli.
¹⁰ For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed.	¹⁰ Per amore di Davide, tuo servo,non respingere il volto del tuo consacrato.
¹¹ The LORD swore an oath to David, a pledge never to be broken: "Your own offspring I will set upon your throne.	¹¹ Il Signore ha giurato a Davide,promessa da cui non torna indietro:«Il frutto delle tue viscereio metterò sul tuo trono!
¹² If your sons observe my covenant, the laws I shall teach them, Their sons, in turn, shall sit forever on your throne."	¹² Se i tuoi figli osserveranno la mia alleanzae i precetti che insegnerò loro,anche i loro figli per sempresiederanno sul tuo trono».
¹³ Yes, the LORD has chosen Zion, desired it for a dwelling:	¹³ Sì, il Signore ha scelto Sion,l’ha voluta per sua residenza:
¹⁴ "This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I desire it.	¹⁴ «Questo sarà il luogo del mio riposo per sempre:qui risiederò, perché l’ho voluto.
¹⁵ I will bless Zion with meat; its poor I will fill with bread.	¹⁵ Benedirò tutti i suoi raccolti,sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.
¹⁶ I will clothe its priests with blessing; its faithful shall shout for joy.	¹⁶ Rivestirò di salvezza i suoi sacerdoti,i suoi fedeli esulteranno di gioia.
¹⁷ There I will make a horn sprout for David's line; I will set a lamp for my anointed.	¹⁷ Là farò germogliare una potenza per Davide,preparerò una lampada per il mio consacrato.
¹⁸ His foes I will clothe with shame, but on him my crown shall gleam."	¹⁸ Rivestirò di vergogna i suoi nemici,mentre su di lui fiorirà la sua corona».
