1 Again Job answered and said:	1 E GIOBBE rispose, e disse:
2 Though I know my complaint is bitter, his hand is heavy upon me in my groanings.	2 Ancor oggi il mio lamento è ribellione; Benchè la mia piaga sia aggravata sopra i miei sospiri.
3 Oh, that today I might find him, that I might come to his judgment seat!	3 Oh! sapessi io pure ove trovare Iddio! Io andrei infino al suo trono;
4 I would set out my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments;	4 Io sporrei per ordine la mia ragione nel suo cospetto, Ed empierei la mia bocca di argomenti;
5 I would learn the words with which he would answer, and understand what he would reply to me.	5 Io saprei le parole ch’egli mi risponderebbe, E intenderei ciò ch’egli mi direbbe.
6 Even should he contend against me with his great power, yet, would that he himself might heed me!	6 Contenderebbe egli meco con grandezza di forza? No; anzi egli avrebbe riguardo a me.
7 There the upright man might reason with him, and I should once and for all preserve my rights.	7 Ivi l’uomo diritto verrebbe a ragione con lui, Ed io sarei in perpetuo liberato dal mio giudice
8 But if I go to the east, he is not there; or to the west, I cannot perceive him;	8 Ecco, se io vo innanzi, egli non vi è; Se indietro, io non lo scorgo;
9 Where the north enfolds him, I behold him not; by the south he is veiled, and I see him not.	9 Se a man sinistra, quando egli opera, io nol veggo; Se a man destra, egli si nasconde, ed io non posso vederlo.
10 Yet he knows my way; if he proved me, I should come forth as gold.	10 Quando egli avrà conosciuta la mia via, E mi avrà esaminato, io uscirò fuori come oro.
11 My foot has always walked in his steps; his way I have kept and have not turned aside.	11 Il mio piè si è attenuto alle sue pedate; Io ho guardata la sua via, e non me ne son rivolto.
12 From the commands of his lips I have not departed; the words of his mouth I have treasured in my heart.	12 Ed anche non ho rimosso d’innanzi a me il comandamento delle sue labbra; Io ho riposte appo me le parole della sua bocca, Più caramente che la mia provvisione ordinaria
13 But he had decided, and who can say him nay? What he desires, that he does.	13 Ma, se egli è in un proponimento, chi ne lo storrà? Se l’anima sua desidera di fare una cosa, egli la farà.
14 For he will carry out what is appointed for me; and many such things may yet be in his mind.	14 Egli certo compierà ciò ch’egli ha statuito di me; E molte tali cose sono appo lui.
15 Therefore am I dismayed before him; when I take thought, I fear him.	15 Perciò io sono smarrito per cagion di lui; Se io ci penso, io ho spavento di lui.
16 Indeed God has made my courage fail; the Almighty has put me in dismay.	16 Certo Iddio mi ha fatto struggere il cuore, E l’Onnipotente mi ha conturbato.
17 Yes, would that I had vanished in darkness, and that thick gloom were before me to conceal me.	17 Perchè non sono io stato troncato, per non veder le tenebre? E perchè ha egli nascosta l’oscurità d’innanzi a me?
