The LORD said to Moses, | 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: |
"See, I have chosen Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, | 2 “Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah, |
and I have filled him with a divine spirit of skill and understanding and knowledge in every craft: | 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge in every craft, |
in the production of embroidery, in making things of gold, silver or bronze, | 4 in order to design whatever must be fabricated from gold, and silver, and brass, |
in cutting and mounting precious stones, in carving wood, and in every craft. | 5 from marble, and precious stones, and various woods. |
As his assistant I have appointed Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. I have also endowed all the experts with the necessary skill to make all the things I have ordered you to make: | 6 And I have given to him, as his associate, Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan. And I have placed wisdom in the heart of every artisan, so that they may make everything as I have instructed you: |
the meeting tent, the ark of the commandments with the propitiatory on top of it, all the furnishings of the tent, | 7 the tabernacle of the covenant, and the ark of the testimony, and the propitiatory which is over it, and all the vessels of the tabernacle, |
the table with its appurtenances, the pure gold lampstand with all its appurtenances, the altar of incense, | 8 and the table and its vessels, the most pure lampstand with its vessels, and the altars of incense |
the altar of holocausts with all its appurtenances, the laver with its base, | 9 and of holocaust and all their vessels, the washtub with its base, |
the service cloths, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, the vestments for his sons in their ministry, | 10 the holy vestments for the ministry of Aaron the priest, and for his sons, so that they may execute their office of sacred rites, |
the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. All these things they shall make just as I have commanded you." | 11 the oil of unction, and the incense of aromatics in the Sanctuary. All the things that I have instructed you, they shall make.” |
The LORD said to Moses, | 12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: |
"You must also tell the Israelites: Take care to keep my sabbaths, for that is to be the token between you and me throughout the generations, to show that it is I, the LORD, who make you holy. | 13 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: See that you keep my Sabbath. For it is a sign between me and you among your generations, so that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctifies you. |
Therefore, you must keep the sabbath as something sacred. Whoever desecrates it shall be put to death. If anyone does work on that day, he must be rooted out of his people. | 14 Keep my Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Whoever will have polluted it, shall die a death. Whoever will have done any work in it, his soul shall perish from the midst of his people. |
Six days there are for doing work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of complete rest, sacred to the LORD. Anyone who does work on the sabbath day shall be put to death. | 15 For six days you shall do work. On the seventh day, it is the Sabbath, a rest sanctified by the Lord. All who will have done work on this day shall die. |
So shall the Israelites observe the sabbath, keeping it throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. | 16 Let the sons of Israel keep the Sabbath, and let them celebrate it throughout their generations. It is an everlasting covenant |
Between me and the Israelites it is to be an everlasting token; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day he rested at his ease." | 17 between me and the sons of Israel, and a perpetual sign. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and in the seventh he ceased from work.” |
When the LORD had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the commandments, the stone tablets inscribed by God's own finger. | 18 And the Lord, having completed speaking in this way on Mount Sinai, gave to Moses two stone tablets of testimony, written with the finger of God. |
