The LORD said to Moses,1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
"See, I have chosen Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,2 'Look, I have singled out Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
and I have filled him with a divine spirit of skill and understanding and knowledge in every craft:3 and have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, knowledge and skil in every kind of craft:
in the production of embroidery, in making things of gold, silver or bronze,4 in designing and carrying out work in gold and silver and bronze,
in cutting and mounting precious stones, in carving wood, and in every craft.5 in cutting stones to be set, in wood carving and in executing every kind of work.
As his assistant I have appointed Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. I have also endowed all the experts with the necessary skill to make all the things I have ordered you to make:6 And to help him I have given him Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, and have endowedthe hearts of al the skilled men with the skil to make everything I have ordered you:
the meeting tent, the ark of the commandments with the propitiatory on top of it, all the furnishings of the tent,7 the Tent of Meeting; the ark of the Testimony; the mercy-seat above it; and all the furniture of the tent;
the table with its appurtenances, the pure gold lampstand with all its appurtenances, the altar of incense,8 the table and al its accessories; the pure lamp-stand and al its equipment; the altar of incense;
the altar of holocausts with all its appurtenances, the laver with its base,9 the altar of burnt offerings and al its accessories; the basin and its stand;
the service cloths, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, the vestments for his sons in their ministry,10 the liturgical vestments, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, and the vestments for his sons,for their priestly functions;
the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. All these things they shall make just as I have commanded you."11 the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. They wil do everything as I have orderedyou.'
The LORD said to Moses,12 Yahweh then said to Moses,
"You must also tell the Israelites: Take care to keep my sabbaths, for that is to be the token between you and me throughout the generations, to show that it is I, the LORD, who make you holy.13 'Speak to the Israelites and say, "You wil keep my Sabbaths properly, for this is a sign betweenmyself and you for all your generations to come, so that you will know that it is I, Yahweh, who sanctify you.
Therefore, you must keep the sabbath as something sacred. Whoever desecrates it shall be put to death. If anyone does work on that day, he must be rooted out of his people.14 You wil keep the Sabbath, then; you wil regard it as holy. Anyone who profanes it wil be put todeath; anyone who does any work on that day wil be outlawed from his people.
Six days there are for doing work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of complete rest, sacred to the LORD. Anyone who does work on the sabbath day shall be put to death.15 Work must be done for six days, but the seventh day wil be a day of complete rest, consecrated toYahweh. Anyone who works on the Sabbath day wil be put to death.
So shall the Israelites observe the sabbath, keeping it throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.16 The Israelites wil keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath for all their generations to come: this isan eternal covenant.
Between me and the Israelites it is to be an everlasting token; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day he rested at his ease."17 Between myself and the Israelites, this is a sign for ever, for in six days Yahweh made heaven andearth, but on the seventh day he rested and drew breath."
When the LORD had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the commandments, the stone tablets inscribed by God's own finger.18 When he had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of theTestimony, tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.
