1 Therefore David said, "This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of holocausts for Israel."	1 David disse: « Questa è la casa di Dio, questo è l'altare per l'olocausto d'Israele ».
2 David then ordered that all the aliens who lived in the land of Israel be brought together, and he appointed them stonecutters to hew out stone blocks for building the house of God.	2 Poi ordinò che si adunassero tutti i proseliti della terra d'Israele, e fra essi prese degli scalpellini per tagliare e squadrare pietre per la fabbrica della casa di Dio.
3 He also laid up large stores of iron to make nails for the doors of the gates, and clamps, together with so much bronze that it could not be weighed,	3 David preparò anche moltissimo ferro per i chiodi delle porte, per le commettiture e le giunture, e una quantità immensa di rame.
4 and cedar trees without number. The Sidonians and Tyrians brought great stores of cedar logs to David,	4 Era pure incalcolabile il legname di cedro che i Sidoni e i Tiri avevan portato a David.
5 who said: "My son Solomon is young and immature; but the house that is to be built for the LORD must be made so magnificent that it will be renowned and glorious in all countries. Therefore I will make preparations for it." Thus before his death David laid up materials in abundance.	5 E David disse: Salomone mio figlio è giovane di tenera età, e la casa che io voglio edificata al Si­gnore deve essere tale che se ne parli fra tutte le genti: io adunque gli preparerò il necessario ». E per questo prima di morire preparò tutto il necessario per le spese.
6 Then he called for his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.	6 Poi chiamato a sè Salomone suo figlio, gli ordinò di fabbricare una casa al Signore Dio d'Israele.
7 David said to Solomon: "My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the honor of the LORD, my God.	7 E David disse a Salomone: « Figlio mio, io ebbi in animo d'edificare una casa al nome del Si­gnore Dio mio;
8 But this word of the LORD came to me: 'You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars. You may not build a house in my honor, because you have shed too much blood upon the earth in my sight.	8 ma la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a me in questi termini: Tu hai sparso molto sangue ed hai fatte troppe guerre: tu non potrai innalzare una casa al mio nome, avendo sparso tanto sangue dinanzi a me.
9 However, a son is to be born to you. He will be a peaceful man, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. For Solomon shall be his name, and in his time I will bestow peace and tranquillity on Israel.	9 Ti nascerà un figlio che sarà uomo di pace, perchè io farò che egli abbia riposo da tutti i suoi nemici all'intorno, e per questo sarà chiamato Pacifico; e io darò pace e tranquillità a Israele durante tutta la sua vita:
10 It is he who shall build a house in my honor; he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him, and I will establish the throne of his kingship over Israel forever.'	10 egli edificherà una casa al mio nome; egli mi sarà figlio ed io gli sarò padre; e farò stabile il trono del suo regno sopra Israele in eterno.
11 Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he has said you shall.	11 Or dunque, figlio mio, il Si­gnore sia teco: prospera ed edifica la casa del Signore Dio tuo, come Egli ha detto di te.
12 May the LORD give you prudence and discernment when he brings you to rule over Israel, so that you keep the law of the LORD, your God.	12 Il Si­gnore ti doni anche prudenza e senno per poter governare Israele, e osservare la legge del Signore Dio tuo.
13 Only then shall you succeed, if you are careful to observe the precepts and decrees which the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be brave and steadfast; do not fear or lose heart.	13 Sì, allora potrai prosperare, se osserverai i comandamenti e le ordinazioni che il Si­gnore diede a Mosè, perchè le insegnasse a Israele. Fatti animo, agisci virilmente, senza temere, senza sgomentarti.
14 See, with great effort I have laid up for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron in such great quantities that they cannot be weighed. I have also stored up wood and stones, to which you must add.	14 Ecco, io nella mia povertà ho preparato, per le spese della casa del Signore, cento mila talenti d'oro, un milione di talenti d'argento. Per il rame e pel ferro non v'è peso, perchè la quantità supera ogni calcolo. Ho anche preparato legname e pietre per tutti i bisogni.
15 Moreover, you have available an unlimited supply of workmen, stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and every kind of craftsman	15 Tu hai poi moltissimi operai, scalpellini, muratori, legnaioli, e artefici d'ogni specie, abilissimi in qualsiasi lavoro,
16 skilled in gold, silver, bronze, and iron. Set to work, therefore, and the LORD be with you!"	16 d'oro, d'argento, di rame e di ferro, di cui ce n'è senza fine. Alzati adunque; mettiti all'opera, e il Signore sarà teco ».
17 David also commanded all of Israel's leaders to help his son Solomon:	17 David comandò inoltre a tutti i principi d'Israele di aiutare Salomone suo figlio, e disse loro:
18 "Is not the LORD your God with you? Has he not given you rest on every side? Indeed, he has delivered the occupants of the land into my power, and the land is subdued before the LORD and his people.	18 « Voi vedete che il Signore Dio vostro è con voi, e vi ha dato riposo di ogni intorno, dando nelle vostre mani tutti i vostri nemici: il paese è assoggettato davanti al Signore e davanti al suo popolo.
19 Therefore, devote your hearts and souls to seeking the LORD your God. Proceed to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and God's sacred vessels may be brought into the house built in honor of the LORD."	19 Disponete adunque i vostri cuori e le anime vostre a cercare il Signore Dio vostro, poi levatevi ed edificate un santuario al Signore Dio, affinchè l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, e i vasi consacrati al Signore sian trasportati nella casa che deve essere edificata al nome del Si­gnore ».
