1 Therefore David said, "This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of holocausts for Israel."	1 Alors David dit: “C’est ici que doit être la Maison de Yahvé Dieu et l’autel pour les holocaustes d’Israël.”
2 David then ordered that all the aliens who lived in the land of Israel be brought together, and he appointed them stonecutters to hew out stone blocks for building the house of God.	2 David donna des ordres pour qu’on rassemble tous les étrangers qui vivaient sur la terre d’Israël; il se procura des tailleurs de pierre pour préparer les pierres destinées à la construction du Temple de Dieu.
3 He also laid up large stores of iron to make nails for the doors of the gates, and clamps, together with so much bronze that it could not be weighed,	3 David fit emmagasiner du fer en quantité pour les clous des battants des portes et pour les crampons; du bronze en quantité incalculable;
4 and cedar trees without number. The Sidonians and Tyrians brought great stores of cedar logs to David,	4 du bois de cèdre sans nombre que les Sidoniens et les Tyriens avaient apporté à David, des bois de cèdre en abondance.
5 who said: "My son Solomon is young and immature; but the house that is to be built for the LORD must be made so magnificent that it will be renowned and glorious in all countries. Therefore I will make preparations for it." Thus before his death David laid up materials in abundance.	5 David se disait en effet: “Mon fils Salomon est jeune et inexpérimenté, et le Temple que l’on construira pour Yahvé doit être d’une splendeur admirable afin d’être renommé et glorieux dans tous les pays. Je veux donc tout préparer pour lui.” C’est pourquoi David prépara beaucoup de choses avant sa mort.
6 Then he called for his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.	6 Il envoya chercher son fils Salomon et lui ordonna de construire un temple pour Yahvé Dieu d’Israël.
7 David said to Solomon: "My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the honor of the LORD, my God.	7 David dit à Salomon: “Mon fils, je désirais construire une Maison pour le Nom de Yahvé mon Dieu;
8 But this word of the LORD came to me: 'You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars. You may not build a house in my honor, because you have shed too much blood upon the earth in my sight.	8 mais cette parole de Yahvé m’a été adressée: Tu as versé beaucoup de sang et tu as combattu dans de grandes batailles. Tu ne construiras pas cette Maison pour mon Nom car tu as versé beaucoup de sang à terre sous mes yeux.
9 However, a son is to be born to you. He will be a peaceful man, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. For Solomon shall be his name, and in his time I will bestow peace and tranquillity on Israel.	9 Mais un fils t’est né, il sera, lui, un homme de paix, et je lui donnerai la tranquillité du côté de tous les ennemis qui l’entourent. Salomon sera son nom, et durant son temps, je donnerai paix et repos à Israël.
10 It is he who shall build a house in my honor; he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him, and I will establish the throne of his kingship over Israel forever.'	10 Il construira une Maison pour mon Nom, il sera un fils pour moi et je serai pour lui un père. J’affermirai le trône de sa royauté sur Israël pour toujours.
11 Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he has said you shall.	11 “Maintenant donc, mon fils, que Yahvé t’accompagne et te fasse réussir cette construction d’une Maison pour Yahvé notre Dieu, comme il l’a dit à ton sujet.
12 May the LORD give you prudence and discernment when he brings you to rule over Israel, so that you keep the law of the LORD, your God.	12 Que Yahvé te donne aussi la clairvoyance et la sagesse pour que tu observes la Loi de Yahvé ton Dieu lorsqu’il t’aura établi roi sur Israël.
13 Only then shall you succeed, if you are careful to observe the precepts and decrees which the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be brave and steadfast; do not fear or lose heart.	13 Le succès te sera assuré si tu observes soigneusement les préceptes et les règles que Yahvé a donnés à Moïse pour Israël. Sois fort et courageux, sois sans crainte et rempli de confiance.
14 See, with great effort I have laid up for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, and bronze and iron in such great quantities that they cannot be weighed. I have also stored up wood and stones, to which you must add.	14 À grand-peine j’ai mis de côté pour la construction du Temple, 100 000 talents d’or et 1 000 000 de talents d’argent, sans compter le bronze et le fer qu’on ne peut peser tellement il y en a; j’ai emmagasiné du bois et des pierres: toi, tu en ajouteras encore.
15 Moreover, you have available an unlimited supply of workmen, stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and every kind of craftsman	15 Tu as à ta disposition de nombreux ouvriers: des hommes qui travaillent dans les carrières, des tailleurs de pierre, des charpentiers, et des artisans qualifiés de toutes sortes.
16 skilled in gold, silver, bronze, and iron. Set to work, therefore, and the LORD be with you!"	16 Les réserves d’or, d’argent, de bronze et de fer sont sans limites. Va! Mets-toi au travail et que Yahvé t’accompagne!”
17 David also commanded all of Israel's leaders to help his son Solomon:	17 David ordonna alors à tous les chefs d’Israël d’aider son fils Salomon:
18 "Is not the LORD your God with you? Has he not given you rest on every side? Indeed, he has delivered the occupants of the land into my power, and the land is subdued before the LORD and his people.	18 “Yahvé votre Dieu est bien avec vous puisqu’il vous a donné la paix de tous côtés et qu’il m’a soumis tous les habitants du pays. Aujourd’hui ce pays est bien soumis à Yahvé et à son peuple.
19 Therefore, devote your hearts and souls to seeking the LORD your God. Proceed to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and God's sacred vessels may be brought into the house built in honor of the LORD."	19 Mettez donc votre cœur et votre âme à chercher Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous allez construire un sanctuaire de Yahvé votre Dieu et vous apporterez l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé et les objets sacrés de Dieu dans cette Maison construite pour le Nom de Yahvé.”
