1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah;	1 - Abia regnò sopra Giuda, nel decimo ottavo anno di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat.
2 he reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah, daughter of Abishalom.	2 Regnò tre anni in Gerusalemme: sua madre aveva nome Maaca ed era figlia di Abessalom.
3 He imitated all the sins his father had committed before him, and his heart was not entirely with the LORD, his God, like the heart of his grandfather David.	3 Egli si abbandonò a tutti i peccati, che suo padre aveva commessi prima di lui. 4 Yet for David's sake the LORD, his God, gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, raising up his son after him and permitting Jerusalem to endure;	4 Tuttavia per amor di Davide, il Signore suo Dio gli diede una lucerna in Gerusalemme, suscitandogli un figlio dopo di lui e lasciando sussistere Gerusalemme,

8 Abijam rested with his ancestors; he was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa succeeded him as king.	8 Abia dormì coi padri suoi e venne sepolto nella città di Davide; e Asa suo figlio regnò in vece sua.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Asa, king of Judah, began to reign;	9 Asa, re di Giuda, regnò nell'anno ventesimo di Geroboamo, re d'Israele
10 he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His grandmother's name was Maacah, daughter of Abishalom.	10 e regnò in Gerusalemme quarantun anno. Il nome di sua madre era Maaca figlia di Abessalom.

13 He also deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made an outrageous object for Asherah. 15 He brought into the temple of the LORD his father's and his own votive offerings of silver, gold, and various utensils.	15 e mise nella casa del Signore tutto ciò che aveva consacrato il padre suo e che egli aveva offerto in voto, argento, oro e vasi.
16 There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, as long as they both reigned.	16 Tra Asa e Baasa, re d'Israele, vi fu guerra durante tutta la loro vita.
17 Baasha, king of Israel, attacked Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent communication with Asa, king of Judah.	17 Baasa, re d'Israele, salì in Giuda ed edificò Rama per impedire a quelli di Asa, re di Giuda, di entrare o di uscire.
18 Asa then took all the silver and gold remaining in the treasuries of the temple of the LORD and of the royal palace. Entrusting them to his ministers, King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Aram, resident in Damascus. He said:	18 Asa prese allora tutto l'argento e l'oro che era rimasto nei tesori della casa di Dio e nei tesori della reggia e lo diede in mano dei suoi servi, e li mandò a Benadad figlio di Tabremon figlio di Ezion, re di Siria, che abitava in Damasco, per dirgli:
19 "There is a treaty between you and me, as there was between your father and my father. I am sending you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me."	19 «Vi è alleanza fra me e te, tra il padre mio e il padre tuo. 20 Ben-hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the leaders of his troops against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinnereth, besides all the land of Naphtali.	20 Benadad diede ascolto al re Asa e mandò i capi del suo esercito contro le città d'Israele e abbatterono Aion, Dan, Abeldomum, Maaca e tutta la terra di Cennerot, vale a dire tutto il territorio di Neftali.
21 When Baasha heard of it, he left off fortifying Ramah, and stayed in Tirzah.	21 Avendo ciò udito, Baasa cessò di edificare Rama e ritornò a Tersa.
22 Then King Asa summoned all Judah without exception, and they carried away the stones and beams with which Baasha was fortifying Ramah. With them King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpeh.	22 Il re Asa poi mandò nunzi per tutto Giuda, dicendo: «Nessuno manchi», e portaron via le pietre di Rama e il legname di cui Baasa si era servito e con essi il re Asa costruì Gabaa di Beniamino e Masfa.
23 The rest of the acts of Asa, with all his valor and accomplishments, and the cities he built, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. In his old age, Asa had an infirmity in his feet.	23 Il resto di tutte le azioni di Asa e di tutte le sue imprese e tutto ciò che fece e le città che costruì, non è forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda? 24 He rested with his ancestors; he was buried in his forefather's City of David, and his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him as king.	24 e dormì coi padri suoi e fu sepolto con essi nella città di Davide, e regnò Josafat, suo figlio, in luogo di lui.
25 In the second year of Asa, king of Judah, Nadab, son of Jeroboam, became king of Israel; he reigned over Israel two years.	25 Nadab poi figlio di Geroboamo regnò sopra Israele l'anno secondo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò due anni sopra Israele.
26 He did evil in the LORD'S sight, imitating his father's conduct and the sin which he had caused Israel to commit.	26 E fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore e camminò nelle vie di suo padre, e nei peccati coi quali [suo padre] aveva fatto peccare Israele.
27 Baasha, son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, plotted against him and struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines, which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 Baasa figlio di Aia, della tribù di Issacar, cospirò contro di lui e lo uccise in Gebbeton, che è una città dei Filistei, mentre Nadab e tutto Israele assediavano Gebbeton.
