1 Kings 15

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah;	1 La dix-huitième année du roi Jéroboam fils de Nebat, Abiyyam devint roi de Juda
2 he reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah, daughter of Abishalom.	2 et régna trois ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelait Maaka, fille d'Absalom.
3 He imitated all the sins his father had committed before him, and his heart was not entirely with the LORD, his God, like the heart of his grandfather David.	3 Il imita les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui et son coeur ne fut pas tout entier à Yahvéson Dieu comme le coeur de son ancêtre David.
4 Yet for David's sake the LORD, his God, gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, raising up his son after him and permitting Jerusalem to endure;	4 Pourtant, en considération de David, Yahvé son Dieu lui donna une lampe à Jérusalem, enmaintenant son fils après lui et en épargnant Jérusalem.
5 because David had pleased the LORD and did not disobey any of his commands as long as he lived, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.	5 En effet David avait fait ce qui est juste aux yeux de Yahvé et il ne s'était dérobé à rien de ce qu'illui avait ordonné durant toute sa vie (sauf dans l'histoire d'Urie le Hittite).
6 There was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
7 The rest of Abijam's acts, with all that he did, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	7 Le reste de l'histoire d'Abiyyam, tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda? Il y eut guerre entre Abiyyam et Jéroboam.
8 Abijam rested with his ancestors; he was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa succeeded him as king.	8 Puis Abiyyam se coucha avec ses pères et on l'enterra dans la Cité de David; son fils Asa régna à saplace.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Asa, king of Judah, began to reign;	9 La vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa devint roi de Juda
10 he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His grandmother's name was Maacah, daughter of Abishalom.	10 et régna 41 ans à Jérusalem; sa grand-mère s'appelait Maaka, fille d'Absalom.
11 Asa pleased the LORD like his forefather David,	11 Asa fit ce qui est juste aux yeux de Yahvé, comme son ancêtre David.
12 banishing the temple prostitutes from the land and removing all the idols his father had made.	12 Il expulsa du pays les prostitués sacrés et supprima toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient faites.
13 He also deposed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother, because she had made an outrageous object for Asherah. Asa cut down this object and burned it in the Kidron Valley.	13 Même il enleva à sa grand-mère la dignité de Grande Dame, parce qu'elle avait fait une horreurpour Ashéra; Asa abattit son horreur et la brûla dans la vallée du Cédron.
14 The high places did not disappear; yet Asa's heart was entirely with the LORD as long as he lived.	14 Les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas; pourtant le coeur d'Asa fut tout entier à Yahvé pendant toute savie.
15 He brought into the temple of the LORD his father's and his own votive offerings of silver, gold, and various utensils.	15 Il déposa dans le Temple de Yahvé les offrandes consacrées par son père et ses propres offrandes,de l'argent, de l'or et du mobilier.
16 There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, as long as they both reigned.	16 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Basha, roi d'Israël, tant qu'ils vécurent.
17 Baasha, king of Israel, attacked Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent communication with Asa, king of Judah.	17 Basha, roi d'Israël, marcha contre Juda et il fortifia Rama pour bloquer les communications d'Asa,roi de Juda.
18 Asa then took all the silver and gold remaining in the treasuries of the temple of the LORD and of the royal palace. Entrusting them to his ministers, King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Aram, resident in Damascus. He said:	18 Alors Asa prit l'argent et l'or qui restaient dans les trésors du Temple de Yahvé et ceux du palaisroyal. Il les remit à ses serviteurs et envoya ceux-ci vers Ben-Hadad fils de Tabrimmôn fils de Hèzyôn, le roid'Aram qui résidait à Damas, avec ce message:
19 "There is a treaty between you and me, as there was between your father and my father. I am sending you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me."	19 "Alliance entre moi et toi, entre mon père et ton père! Je t'envoie un présent d'argent et d'or: va,romps ton alliance avec Basha, roi d'Israël, pour qu'il s'éloigne de moi!"
20 Ben-hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the leaders of his troops against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinnereth, besides all the land of Naphtali.	20 Ben-Hadad exauça le roi Asa et envoya ses chefs d'armée contre les villes d'Israël; il conquitIyyôn, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maaka, tout Kinnerot et même tout le pays de Nephtali.
21 When Baasha heard of it, he left off fortifying Ramah, and stayed in Tirzah.	21 Quand Basha l'apprit, il arrêta les travaux à Rama et retourna à Tirça.
22 Then King Asa summoned all Judah without exception, and they carried away the stones and beams with which Baasha was fortifying Ramah. With them King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpeh.	22 Le roi Asa convoqua tout Juda, sans exemption pour personne; on enleva les pierres et le bois aveclesquels Basha fortifiait Rama et le roi en fortifia Géba de Benjamin et Miçpa.
23 The rest of the acts of Asa, with all his valor and accomplishments, and the cities he built, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. In his old age, Asa had an infirmity in his feet.	23 Le reste de l'histoire d'Asa, toute sa vaillance et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre desAnnales des rois de Juda? Seulement, au temps de sa vieillesse, il eut les pieds malades.
24 He rested with his ancestors; he was buried in his forefather's City of David, and his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him as king.	24 Asa se coucha avec ses pères et on l'enterra dans la Cité de David, son ancêtre. Son fils Josaphatrégna à sa place.
25 In the second year of Asa, king of Judah, Nadab, son of Jeroboam, became king of Israel; he reigned over Israel two years.	25 Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël, en la deuxième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna deuxans sur Israël.
26 He did evil in the LORD'S sight, imitating his father's conduct and the sin which he had caused Israel to commit.	26 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé: il imita la conduite de son père et le péché où celui-ci avait entraînéIsraël.
27 Baasha, son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, plotted against him and struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines, which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 Basha fils d'Ahiyya, de la maison d'Issachar, conspira contre lui et l'assassina à Gibbetôn, villephilistine qu'assiégeaient Nadab et tout Israël.
28 Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa, king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.	28 Basha le fit périr dans la troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna à sa place.
29 Once he was king, he killed off the entire house of Jeroboam, not leaving a single soul to Jeroboam but destroying him utterly, according to the warning which the LORD had pronounced through his servant, Ahijah the Shilonite,	29 Devenu roi, il massacra toute la maison de Jéroboam sans épargner personne, jusqu'àl'extermination, selon la parole que Yahvé avait dite par le ministère de son serviteur Ahiyya de Silo,
30 because of the sins Jeroboam committed and caused Israel to commit, by which he provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.	30 pour les péchés qu'il avait commis et où il avait entraîné Israël et pour l'irritation qu'il avait causéeà Yahvé Dieu d'Israël.
31 The rest of the acts of Nadab, with all that he did, are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.	31 Le reste de l'histoire de Nadab, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois d'Israël?
32 (There was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, as long as they lived.)
33 In the third year of Asa, king of Judah, Baasha, son of Ahijah, began his twenty-four-year reign over Israel in Tirzah.	33 La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Basha, fils d'Ahiyya, devint roi sur Israël à Tirça, pour 24ans.
34 He did evil in the LORD'S sight, imitating the conduct of Jeroboam and the sin he had caused Israel to commit.	34 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, et il imita la conduite de Jéroboam et le péché où il avait entraînéIsraël.
