1 These are the last words of David: "The utterance of David, son of Jesse; the utterance of the man God raised up, Anointed of the God of Jacob, favorite of the Mighty One of Israel.	1 Voici les dernières paroles de David. Paroles de David fils d'Isaï, paroles de l'homme établi pour être l'oint (le christ) du Dieu de Jacob, le chantre célèbre d'Israël.
2 The spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.	2 L'Esprit du Seigneur s'est fait entendre par moi ; sa parole a été sur ma langue.
3 The God of Israel spoke; of me the Rock of Israel said, 'He that rules over men in justice, that rules in the fear of God,	3 Le Dieu d'Israël m'a parlé ; le Fort d'Israël m'a dit : Que celui qui est le dominateur des hommes soit juste, et (qu')il règne(ra) dans la crainte de Dieu.
4 Is like the morning light at sunrise on a cloudless morning, making the greensward sparkle after rain.'	4 Il sera comme la lumière de l'aurore, lorsque le soleil, se levant au matin, brille sans aucun nuage, et comme l'herbe qui germe de la terre, (arrosée) par les pluies.
5 Is not my house firm before God? He has made an eternal covenant with me, set forth in detail and secured. Will he not bring to fruition all my salvation and my every desire?	5 Ma maison sans doute n'était pas telle devant Dieu qu'il dût faire avec moi une alliance éternelle, ferme et entièrement inébranlable. C'est tout mon salut et tout mon désir, et il n'y a rien en elle qui ne doive germer.
6 But the wicked are all like thorns to be cast away; they cannot be taken up by hand.	6 Mais les prévaricateurs seront arrachés comme des épines auxquelles on ne touche point avec la main ;
7 He who wishes to touch them must arm himself with iron and the shaft of a spear, and they must be consumed by fire."	7 mais on s'arme pour cela du fer et du bois d'une lance, et on les consume avec le feu pour les réduire à néant.
8 These are the names of David's warriors. Ishbaal, son of Hachamoni, was the first of the Three. It was he who brandished his battle-ax over eight hundred slain in a single encounter.	8 Voici le nom des héros (braves) de David : (Jesbaam l'Hachamonite) fut le premier d'entre les trois les plus signalés. Il s'assit dans la chaire comme très sage, et il tua huit cents hommes en une seule fois.
9 Next to him, among the Three warriors, was Eleazar, son of Dodo the Ahohite. He was with David at Ephes-dammim when the Philistines assembled there for battle. The Israelites had retreated,	9 (Après lui) Eléazar l'Ahohite, fils de Dodo (son oncle paternel), était l'un des trois héros (braves) qui se trouvèrent avec David lorsqu'on insulta les Philistins, et qu'ils s'assemblèrent en un certain lieu pour combattre.
10 but he stood his ground and fought the Philistines until his hand grew tired and became cramped, holding fast to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory on that day; the soldiers turned back after Eleazar, but only to strip the slain.	10 Les Israélites ayant fui, il tint bon, et battit les Philistins, jusqu'à ce que sa main se lassât de tuer, et qu'il (elle) demeurât attaché(e) à son épée. Le Seigneur opéra en ce jour une grande délivrance ; et ceux qui avaient fui retournèrent pour prendre les dépouilles des morts.
11 Next to him was Shammah, son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had assembled at Lehi, where there was a plot of land full of lentils. When the soldiers fled from the Philistines,	11 Après lui il y eut Semma, fils d'Agé, d'Arari. Les Philistins s'étant assemblés près d'une station (un poste) où il y avait un champ plein de lentilles, et ayant fait fuir le peuple devant eux,
12 he took his stand in the middle of the plot and defended it. He slew the Philistines, and the LORD brought about a great victory. Such were the deeds of the Three warriors.	12 il demeura ferme au milieu du champ, le défendit et frappa les Philistins ; et Dieu opéra une grande délivrance (victoire).
13 During the harvest three of the Thirty went down to David in the cave of Adullam, while a Philistine clan was encamped in the Vale of Rephaim.	13 (Et) Auparavant les trois qui étaient les premiers entre les trente étaient venus trouver David dans la caverne d'Odollam ; c'était au temps de la moisson, et les Philistins étaient campés dans la Vallée des Géants.
14 At that time David was in the refuge, and there was a garrison of Philistines in Bethlehem.	14 David était alors dans la forteresse, et les (l'armée des) Philistins avaient alors un poste à Bethléhem.
15 Now David had a strong craving and said, "Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the cistern that is by the gate of Bethlehem!"	15 Et David eut un désir (donc fit un souhait), et il s'écria : Oh ! si quelqu'un me donnait à boire de l'eau de la citerne qui est à Bethléhem, auprès de la porte !
16 So the Three warriors broke through the Philistine camp and drew water from the cistern that is by the gate of Bethlehem. But when they brought it to David he refused to drink it, and instead poured it out to the LORD,	16 Les trois héros (braves) s'élancèrent donc à travers le camp des Philistins, et allèrent puiser de l'eau dans la citerne de Bethléhem qui est auprès de la porte, et l'apportèrent à David. Mais David n'en voulut point boire, et il l'offrit (en libation) au Seigneur,
17 saying: "The LORD forbid that I do this! Can I drink the blood of these men who went at the risk of their lives?" So he refused to drink it.	17 en disant : Dieu me garde de faire cela ! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes (et ce) qu'ils sont allés chercher au péril de leur vie (âme) ? Ainsi il ne voulut point boire de cette eau. Voilà ce que firent ces trois héros.
18 Abishai, brother of Joab, son of Zeruiah, was at the head of the Thirty. It was he who brandished his spear over three hundred slain. He was listed among the Thirty	18 Abisaï, frère de Joab, et fils de Sarvia, était le premier entre trois. C'est lui qui leva sa lance contre trois cents hommes et les tua. Il s'était acquis un grand nom parmi les trois seconds.
19 and commanded greater respect than the Thirty, becoming their leader. However, he did not attain to the Three.	19 C'était le plus estimé d'entre eux, et il en était le chef ; mais il n'égalait pas néanmoins les trois premiers.
20 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, a stalwart from Kabzeel, was a man of great achievements. It was he who slew the two lions in Moab. He also went down and killed the lion in the cistern at the time of the snow.	20 Banaïas de Cabséel, fils de Joïada, qui fut un homme très vaillant, fit aussi de très grandes actions ; il tua les deux lions de Moab ; et lorsque la terre était couverte de neige, il descendit dans une citerne où il tua un lion.
21 It was he, too, who slew an Egyptian of large stature. Although the Egyptian was armed with a spear, he went against him with a club and wrested the spear from the Egyptian's hand, then killed him with his own spear.	21 C'est lui (aussi) qui tua un (l') Egyptien d'une grandeur extraordinaire (digne d'être en spectacle). L'Egyptien vint la lance à la main, et Banaïas la lui arracha, (n'ayant qu'une baguette seulement), et le tua de sa propre lance.
22 Such were the deeds performed by Benaiah, son of Jehoiada. He was listed among the Thirty warriors	22 Voilà ce que fit Banaïas, fils de Joïada.
23 and commanded greater respect than the Thirty. However, he did not attain to the Three. David put him in command of his bodyguard.	23 Il était illustre entre les trois qui étaient les plus estimés des trente ; mais il n'égalait pas les trois premiers. David le nomma son conseiller secret (intime).
24 Asahel, brother of Joab. . . .Among the Thirty were: Elhanan, son of Dodo, from Bethlehem;	24 Entre les trente étaient Asaël, frère de Joab ; Eléhanan de Bethléhem, fils de l'oncle paternel d'Asaël ;
25 Shammah from En-harod; Elika from En-harod;	25 Semma de Harodi ; Elica de Harodi ;
26 Helez from Beth-pelet; Ira, son of Ikkesh, from Tekoa;	26 Hélès de Phalti ; Hira de Thécua, fils d'Accès ;
