1 and then God remembered Noah and all the animals, wild and tame, that were with him in the ark. So God made a wind sweep over the earth, and the waters began to subside.	1 Da dachte Gott an Noah und an alle wilden Tiere und an all das Vieh, das bei ihm in der Arche war; und Gott ließ einen Wind über die Erde wehen, so daß die Wasser sanken;
2 The fountains of the abyss and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the downpour from the sky was held back.	2 die Quellen der Tiefe (= die Brunnen der Urflut; vgl. 7,11) und die Fenster des Himmels schlossen sich, und dem Regen vom Himmel her wurde Einhalt getan.
3 Gradually the waters receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days, the waters had so diminished	3 Da verlief sich das Wasser allmählich von der Erde und begann nach Ablauf der hundertundfünfzig Tage zu fallen;
4 that, in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.	4 und am siebzehnten Tage des siebten Monats saß die Arche auf einem der Berge von Ararat (= Armenien) fest.
5 The waters continued to diminish until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains appeared.	5 Das Wasser nahm dann immerfort ab bis zum zehnten Monat: am ersten Tage des zehnten Monats kamen die Gipfel der Berge zum Vorschein.
6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the hatch he had made in the ark,	6 Nach Verlauf von vierzig Tagen aber öffnete Noah das Fenster der Arche, das er angebracht hatte,
7 and he sent out a raven, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth. It flew back and forth until the waters dried off from the earth.	7 und ließ den Raben ausfliegen; der flog hin und her, bis das Wasser auf der Erde abgetrocknet war.
8 Then he sent out a dove, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth.	8 Hierauf ließ er die Taube ausfliegen, um zu erfahren, ob das Wasser sich auf der Erdoberfläche verlaufen habe.
9 But the dove could find no place to alight and perch, and it returned to him in the ark, for there was water all over the earth. Putting out his hand, he caught the dove and drew it back to him inside the ark.	9 Da die Taube aber keinen Ort fand, wo ihre Füße hätten ruhen (oder: sich niederlassen) können, kehrte sie zu ihm zu der Arche zurück; denn das Wasser bedeckte noch die Oberfläche der ganzen Erde. Da streckte er seine Hand hinaus, ergriff sie und nahm sie wieder zu sich in die Arche.
10 He waited seven days more and again sent the dove out from the ark.	10 Hierauf wartete er noch weitere sieben Tage und ließ dann die Taube zum zweitenmal aus der Arche fliegen.
11 In the evening the dove came back to him, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! So Noah knew that the waters had lessened on the earth.	11 Da kam die Taube um die Abendzeit zu ihm zurück, und siehe da: sie hatte ein frisches Ölbaumblatt im Schnabel! Daran erkannte Noah, daß das Wasser auf der Erde sich verlaufen hatte.
12 He waited still another seven days and then released the dove once more; and this time it did not come back.	12 Nun wartete er nochmals weitere sieben Tage und ließ die Taube wieder ausfliegen; doch diesmal kehrte sie nicht wieder zu ihm zurück.
13 In the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water began to dry up on the earth. Noah then removed the covering of the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was drying up.	13 Und im sechshundertundersten Lebensjahre Noahs, am ersten Tage des ersten Monats, da war das Wasser von der Erde weggetrocknet. Als jetzt Noah das Dach von der Arche abnahm und Ausschau hielt, da war der Erdboden abgetrocknet;
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.	14 und am siebenundzwanzigsten Tage des zweiten Monats war die Erde ganz trocken geworden.
15 Then God said to Noah:	15 Da gebot Gott dem Noah:
16 "Go out of the ark, together with your wife and your sons and your sons' wives.	16 »Verlaß (jetzt) die Arche, du und mit dir dein Weib und deine Söhne und deine Schwiegertöchter!
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you--all bodily creatures, be they birds or animals or creeping things of the earth-and let them abound on the earth, breeding and multiplying on it."	17 Sämtliche Tiere von allen Arten, die bei dir sind, Vögel, Vieh und alles Gewürm, das auf der Erde kriecht, laß mit dir hinausgehen, damit sie sich auf der Erde frei bewegen und fruchtbar seien und sich mehren auf der Erde.«
18 So Noah came out, together with his wife and his sons and his sons' wives;	18 Da ging Noah mit seinen Söhnen, seinem Weibe und seinen Schwiegertöchtern hinaus;
19 and all the animals, wild and tame, all the birds, and all the creeping creatures of the earth left the ark, one kind after another.	19 auch alle vierfüßigen Tiere, alles Gewürm, alle Vögel, alles, was sich auf der Erde regt, gingen nach ihren Arten aus der Arche hinaus.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and choosing from every clean animal and every clean bird, he offered holocausts on the altar.	20 Noah baute dann dem HERRN einen Altar, nahm von allen reinen Tieren und von allen reinen Vögeln (je ein Stück) und brachte Brandopfer auf dem Altar dar.
21 When the LORD smelled the sweet odor, he said to himself: "Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the desires of man's heart are evil from the start; nor will I ever again strike down all living beings, as I have done.	21 Als nun der HERR den lieblichen Duft roch, sagte er bei sich selbst: »Ich will hinfort den Erdboden nicht noch einmal um der Menschen willen verfluchen; denn das Sinnen und Trachten (vgl. 6,5) des Menschenherzens ist böse von Jugend auf; auch will ich hinfort nicht noch einmal alles Lebende sterben lassen, wie ich es getan habe.
22 As long as the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."	22 Hinfort, solange die Erde steht, sollen Säen und Ernten, Frost und Hitze, Sommer und Winter, Tag und Nacht nicht mehr aufhören!«
