1 and then God remembered Noah and all the animals, wild and tame, that were with him in the ark. So God made a wind sweep over the earth, and the waters began to subside.	1 Poi Dio si ricordò di Noè, di tutte le fiere e di tutto il bestiame ch'erano con lui nell'arca; Dio fece allora passare un vento sulla terra e le acque cessarono.
2 The fountains of the abyss and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the downpour from the sky was held back.	2 Le fonti dell'abisso e le cateratte del cielo furono chiuse, e la pioggia cessò di cadere dal cielo;
3 Gradually the waters receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days, the waters had so diminished	3 le acque andarono gradatamente ritirandosi dalla terra e cessarono le acque in capo a centocinquanta giorni.
4 that, in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.	4 Nel settimo mese, il diciassette del mese, l'arca si fermò sui monti dell'Ararat.
5 The waters continued to diminish until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains appeared.	5 Le acque andarono via via diminuendo fino al decimo mese. Nel decimo mese, il primo giorno del mese, apparirono le vette dei monti.
6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the hatch he had made in the ark,	6 In capo a quaranta giorni Noè aprì la finestra che aveva fatto nell'arca e rilasciò il corvo.
7 and he sent out a raven, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth. It flew back and forth until the waters dried off from the earth.	7 Esso uscì, andando e tornando, finché si prosciugarono le acque sulla terra.
8 Then he sent out a dove, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth.	8 Allora Noè rilasciò la colomba, per vedere se le acque fossero scemate sulla superficie del suolo;
9 But the dove could find no place to alight and perch, and it returned to him in the ark, for there was water all over the earth. Putting out his hand, he caught the dove and drew it back to him inside the ark.	9 ma la colomba non trovò dove posare la pianta del piede e tornò a lui nell'arca, perché c'erano acque sulla superficie di tutta la terra. Ed egli stese la mano, la prese e la portò con sé dentro l'arca.
10 He waited seven days more and again sent the dove out from the ark.	10 Attese ancora altri sette giorni e di nuovo rilasciò la colomba fuori dell'arca,
11 In the evening the dove came back to him, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! So Noah knew that the waters had lessened on the earth.	11 e la colomba tornò a lui sul far della sera; ed ecco, essa aveva una foglia di ulivo, che aveva strappata con il suo becco; così Noè comprese che le acque erano scemate sopra la terra.
12 He waited still another seven days and then released the dove once more; and this time it did not come back.	12 Aspettò tuttavia ancora sette giorni, poi rilasciò la colomba; ma essa non ritornò più da lui.
13 In the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water began to dry up on the earth. Noah then removed the covering of the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was drying up.	13 Fu nell'anno seicentouno della vita di Noè, nel primo mese, nel primo giorno del mese, che le acque s'erano prosciugate sopra la terra: Noè scoperchiò l'arca, ed ecco che la superficie del suolo era prosciugata.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.	14 Ma fu nel secondo mese, nel ventisettesimo giorno del mese, che la terra fu secca.
15 Then God said to Noah:	15 Allora Dio disse a Noè:
16 "Go out of the ark, together with your wife and your sons and your sons' wives.	16 "Esci dall'arca tu e tua moglie, i tuoi figlioli e le mogli dei tuoi figlioli con te.
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you--all bodily creatures, be they birds or animals or creeping things of the earth-and let them abound on the earth, breeding and multiplying on it."	17 Fa' uscire con te tutti gli animali che sono con te, d'ogni carne, volatili, bestiame e tutti i rettili che strisciano sulla terra, perché possano brulicare sulla terra, siano fecondi e si moltiplichino sulla terra".
18 So Noah came out, together with his wife and his sons and his sons' wives;	18 Uscì dunque Noè e insieme a lui i suoi figlioli, con sua moglie e con le mogli dei suoi figlioli.
19 and all the animals, wild and tame, all the birds, and all the creeping creatures of the earth left the ark, one kind after another.	19 E tutte le fiere, tutti i rettili, tutti i volatili, tutto ciò che striscia sulla terra, secondo le loro specie, uscirono dall'arca.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and choosing from every clean animal and every clean bird, he offered holocausts on the altar.	20 Allora Noè edificò un altare al Signore, prese ogni sorta di animali puri e ogni sorta di volatili puri e offrì olocausti sull'altare.
21 When the LORD smelled the sweet odor, he said to himself: "Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the desires of man's heart are evil from the start; nor will I ever again strike down all living beings, as I have done.	21 Il Signore ne odorò la soave fragranza e disse in cuor suo: "Io non tornerò più a maledire il suolo per cagione dell'uomo, perché i progetti del cuore umano sono malvagi fin dall'adolescenza: e non tornerò più a colpire ogni essere vivente come ho fatto.
22 As long as the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."	22 Finché la terra durerà, semina e raccolta, freddo e caldo, estate e inverno, giorno e notte non cesseranno mai".
