1 and then God remembered Noah and all the animals, wild and tame, that were with him in the ark. So God made a wind sweep over the earth, and the waters began to subside.	1 Ekkor megemlékezett Isten Noéról, s minden állatról és minden baromról, amely vele volt a bárkában. Szelet támasztott a földön, és a vizek apadni kezdtek.
2 The fountains of the abyss and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the downpour from the sky was held back.	2 Bezárultak a mélység forrásai és az ég zsilipjei, s megszűnt az eső az égből.
3 Gradually the waters receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days, the waters had so diminished	3 A vizek visszahúzódtak a földről, folytak visszafelé, és százötven nap múlva apadni kezdtek.
4 that, in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.	4 A hetedik hónapban, a hónap tizenhetedik napján megállapodott a bárka Ararát hegyein.
5 The waters continued to diminish until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains appeared.	5 A vizek pedig egyre apadtak a tizedik hónapig: s a tizedik hónapban a hónap első napján előtűntek a hegyek ormai.
6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the hatch he had made in the ark,	6 Amikor aztán még negyven nap elmúlt, kinyitotta Noé a bárka ablakát, amelyet készített, és kibocsátotta a hollót;
7 and he sent out a raven, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth. It flew back and forth until the waters dried off from the earth.	7 az ide-oda szállt, majd visszatért, mert a vizek még nem száradtak fel a földön.
8 Then he sent out a dove, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth.	8 Ez után kibocsátotta a galambot is, hogy lássa, megszűntek-e már a vizek a föld színén.
9 But the dove could find no place to alight and perch, and it returned to him in the ark, for there was water all over the earth. Putting out his hand, he caught the dove and drew it back to him inside the ark.	9 De az, mivel nem talált helyet, ahol megpihenhetett volna a lába, visszatért hozzá a bárkára – ugyanis víz volt még az egész földön. – Erre ő kinyújtotta a kezét, megfogta, és bevette a bárkába.
10 He waited seven days more and again sent the dove out from the ark.	10 Ezután várt még másik hét napig, s akkor újra kibocsátotta a galambot a bárkából.
11 In the evening the dove came back to him, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! So Noah knew that the waters had lessened on the earth.	11 Az pedig estefelé visszatért hozzá, és zöld levelű olajfagallyat hozott a csőrében. Noé megértette, hogy megszűnt a víz a földön,
12 He waited still another seven days and then released the dove once more; and this time it did not come back.	12 de várt még másik hét napig, aztán kibocsátotta a galambot, és az többé nem tért vissza hozzá.
13 In the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water began to dry up on the earth. Noah then removed the covering of the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was drying up.	13 Így tehát, Noé hatszázegyedik esztendejében, az első hónapban, a hónap első napján leapadtak a vizek a földön. Noé kinyitotta a bárka fedelét, kitekintett, és látta, hogy megszáradt a föld színe.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.	14 A második hónapra, a hónap huszonhetedik napjára megszáradt a föld.
15 Then God said to Noah:	15 Ekkor Isten így szólt Noéhoz:
16 "Go out of the ark, together with your wife and your sons and your sons' wives.	16 »Szállj ki a bárkából, te és veled a feleséged, fiaid és a fiaid feleségei!
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you--all bodily creatures, be they birds or animals or creeping things of the earth-and let them abound on the earth, breeding and multiplying on it."	17 Hozd ki magaddal az összes állatot, amely veled van, minden testet, szárnyast, lábasjószágot, és minden csúszómászót, amely nyüzsög a földön! Járjatok-keljetek a földön: szaporodjatok és sokasodjatok rajta!«
18 So Noah came out, together with his wife and his sons and his sons' wives;	18 Kiszállt tehát Noé és vele fiai, a felesége és fiainak a feleségei,
19 and all the animals, wild and tame, all the birds, and all the creeping creatures of the earth left the ark, one kind after another.	19 és kijött a bárkából valamennyi állat, lábasjószág és csúszómászó, amely nyüzsög a földön, faja szerint.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and choosing from every clean animal and every clean bird, he offered holocausts on the altar.	20 Ekkor Noé oltárt épített az Úrnak, vett minden tiszta állatból és madárból, és egészen elégő áldozatokat mutatott be az oltáron.
21 When the LORD smelled the sweet odor, he said to himself: "Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the desires of man's heart are evil from the start; nor will I ever again strike down all living beings, as I have done.	21 Az Úr megérezte a kedves illatot, és szívében azt mondta az Úr: »Nem átkozom meg többé a földet az ember miatt: mert az emberi szív gondolata ifjúságától fogva hajlik a rosszra. Nem sújtom többé az összes élőlényt úgy, ahogy tettem.
22 As long as the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."	22 Amíg tartanak a föld napjai, meg nem szűnik többé a vetés és az aratás, a hideg és a meleg, a nyár és a tél, az éjszaka és a nappal.«
