1 and then God remembered Noah and all the animals, wild and tame, that were with him in the ark. So God made a wind sweep over the earth, and the waters began to subside.	1 Alors Dieu se souvint de Noé, de toutes les bêtes et tous les animaux des champs qui étaient avec lui dans l’arche. Dieu fit souffler un vent qui assécha la terre et les eaux se retirèrent.
2 The fountains of the abyss and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the downpour from the sky was held back.	2 Les fontaines du fond de la mer et les écluses du ciel se fermèrent, la pluie s’arrêta de tomber.
3 Gradually the waters receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred and fifty days, the waters had so diminished	3 Les eaux se retirèrent de sur la terre avec des flux et des reflux; elles baissèrent dès la fin des 150 jours.
4 that, in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.	4 Au dix-septième jour du septième mois, l’arche se posa sur le mont Ararat.
5 The waters continued to diminish until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains appeared.	5 Les eaux continuèrent de baisser jusqu’au dixième mois, et le premier jour du dixième mois les sommets des montagnes apparurent.
6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the hatch he had made in the ark,	6 Au bout de quarante jours, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre qu’il avait faite dans l’arche
7 and he sent out a raven, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth. It flew back and forth until the waters dried off from the earth.	7 et il lâcha le corbeau qui commença d’aller et venir jusqu’à ce que les eaux aient disparu de la terre.
8 Then he sent out a dove, to see if the waters had lessened on the earth.	8 Noé lâcha ensuite la colombe pour voir si les eaux avaient baissé à la surface de la terre.
9 But the dove could find no place to alight and perch, and it returned to him in the ark, for there was water all over the earth. Putting out his hand, he caught the dove and drew it back to him inside the ark.	9 Mais la colombe ne trouva pas d’endroit pour poser ses pattes, et elle revint vers lui dans l’arche, car les eaux couvraient encore la surface de la terre. Noé étendit la main, prit la colombe et la ramena vers lui dans l’arche.
10 He waited seven days more and again sent the dove out from the ark.	10 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et, de nouveau, il lâcha la colombe hors de l’arche.
11 In the evening the dove came back to him, and there in its bill was a plucked-off olive leaf! So Noah knew that the waters had lessened on the earth.	11 La colombe revint vers lui à l’heure du soir, et voici qu’elle tenait dans son bec une petite branche d’olivier toute fraîche. Alors Noé comprit que les eaux avaient baissé sur la terre.
12 He waited still another seven days and then released the dove once more; and this time it did not come back.	12 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha la colombe, mais elle ne revint plus vers lui.
13 In the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the water began to dry up on the earth. Noah then removed the covering of the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was drying up.	13 En l’an 601 de la vie de Noé, le premier jour du premier mois, les eaux avaient séché sur la terre. Noé souleva le toit de l’arche et regarda: il vit que la surface du sol était sèche.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.	14 Le vingt-septième jour du deuxième mois, la terre était complètement sèche.
15 Then God said to Noah:	15 Alors Dieu s’adressa à Noé et lui dit:
16 "Go out of the ark, together with your wife and your sons and your sons' wives.	16 “Sors de l’arche, toi, ta femme, tes fils, et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you--all bodily creatures, be they birds or animals or creeping things of the earth-and let them abound on the earth, breeding and multiplying on it."	17 Fais sortir tous les animaux qui sont avec toi: oiseaux, animaux des champs et tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre. Qu’ils soient féconds et nombreux sur la terre!”
18 So Noah came out, together with his wife and his sons and his sons' wives;	18 Noé sortit alors avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils.
19 and all the animals, wild and tame, all the birds, and all the creeping creatures of the earth left the ark, one kind after another.	19 Tous les animaux, tous les oiseaux, tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre sortirent aussi de l’arche, famille par famille.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and choosing from every clean animal and every clean bird, he offered holocausts on the altar.	20 Noé construisit un autel en l’honneur de Yahvé; il prit de tous les animaux purs et de tous les oiseaux purs et il en offrit un sacrifice par le feu sur cet autel.
21 When the LORD smelled the sweet odor, he said to himself: "Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the desires of man's heart are evil from the start; nor will I ever again strike down all living beings, as I have done.	21 Yahvé sentit la bonne odeur et il dit en son cœur: “Je ne maudirai plus jamais la terre à cause de l’homme, car les pensées du cœur de l’homme sont mauvaises dès sa jeunesse, je ne recommencerai plus à frapper les êtres vivants comme je l’ai fait.
22 As long as the earth lasts, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."	22 Aussi longtemps que la terre durera, semailles et moissons, gelées et chaleur, été, hiver, jour et nuit, ne cesseront plus.”
