1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.	1 Antes de la fiesta de Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que había llegado la hora de pasar de este mundo al Padre, él, que había amado a los suyos que quedaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;	2 Durante la Cena, cuando el demonio ya había inspirado a Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el propósito de entregarlo,
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;	3 sabiendo Jesús que el Padre había puesto todo en sus manos y que él había venido de Dios y volvía a Dios,
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.	4 se levantó de la mesa, se sacó el manto y tomando una toalla se la ató a la cintura.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.	5 Luego echó agua en un recipiente y empezó a lavar los pies a los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla que tenía en la cintura.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?	6 Cuando se acercó a Simón Pedro, este le dijo: «¿Tú, Señor, me vas a lavar los pies a mí?».
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.	7 Jesús le respondió: «No puedes comprender ahora lo que estoy haciendo, pero después lo comprenderás».
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.	8 «No, le dijo Pedro, ¡tú jamás me lavarás los pies a mí!». Jesús le respondió: «Si yo no te lavo, no podrás compartir mi suerte».
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.	9 «Entonces, Señor, le dijo Simón Pedro, ¡no sólo los pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza!».
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.	10 Jesús le dijo: «El que se ha bañado no necesita lavarse más que los pies, porque está completamente limpio. Ustedes también están limpios, aunque no todos».
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.	11 El sabía quién lo iba a entregar, y por eso había dicho: «No todos ustedes están limpios».
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?	12 Después de haberles lavado los pies, se puso el manto, volvió a la mesa y les dijo: «¿comprenden lo que acabo de hacer con ustedes?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.	13 Ustedes me llaman Maestro y Señor, y tienen razón, porque lo soy.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.	14 Si yo, que soy el Señor y el Maestro, les he lavado los pies, ustedes también deben lavarse los pies unos a otros.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.	15 Les he dado el ejemplo, para que hagan lo mismo que yo hice con ustedes.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.	16 Les aseguro que el servidor no es más grande que su señor, ni el enviado más grande que el que lo envía.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.	17 Ustedes serán felices si, sabiendo estas cosas, las practican.
18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.	18 No lo digo por todos ustedes; yo conozco a los que he elegido. Pero es necesario que se cumpla la Escritura que dice: El que comparte mi pan se volvió contra mí.
19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.	19 Les digo esto desde ahora, antes que suceda, para que cuando suceda, crean que Yo Soy.
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.	20 Les aseguro que el que reciba al que yo envíe, me recibe a mí, y el que me recibe, recibe al que me envió».
21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.	21 Después de decir esto, Jesús se estremeció y manifestó claramente: «Les aseguro que uno de ustedes me entregará:.
22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.	22 Los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, no sabiendo a quién se refería.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.	23 Uno de ellos –el discípulo al que Jesús amaba– estaba reclinado muy cerca de Jesús.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.	24 Simón Pedro le hizo una seña y le dijo: «Pregúntale a quién se refiere».
25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?	25 El se reclinó sobre Jesús y le preguntó: «Señor, ¿quién es?».
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.	26 Jesús le respondió: «Es aquel al que daré el bocado que voy a mojar en el plato». Y mojando un bocado, se lo dio a Judas, hijo de Simón Iscariote.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.	27 En cuanto recibió el bocado, Satanás entró en él. Jesús le dijo entonces: «Realiza pronto lo que tienes que hacer».
28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.	28 Pero ninguno de los comensales comprendió por qué le decía esto.
29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.	29 Como Judas estaba encargado de la bolsa común, algunos pensaban que Jesús quería decirle: «Compra lo que hace falta para la fiesta», o bien que le mandaba dar algo a los pobres.
30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.	30 Y en seguida, después de recibir el bocado, Judas salió. Ya era de noche.
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.	31 Después que Judas salió, Jesús dijo: «Ahora el Hijo del hombre ha sido glorificado y Dios ha sido glorificado en él.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.	32 Si Dios ha sido glorificado en él, también lo glorificará en sí mismo, y lo hará muy pronto.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.	33 Hijos míos, ya no estaré mucho tiempo con ustedes. Ustedes me buscarán, pero yo les digo ahora lo mismo que dije a los judíos: «A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir».
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.	34 Les doy un mandamiento nuevo: ámense los unos a los otros. Así como yo los he amado, ámense también ustedes los unos a los otros.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.	35 En esto todos reconocerán que ustedes son mis discípulos: en el amor que se tengan los unos a los otros».
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.	36 Simón Pedro le dijo: «Señor, ¿a dónde vas?». Jesús le respondió: «Adonde yo voy, tú no puedes seguirme ahora, pero más adelante me seguirás».
37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.	37 Pedro le preguntó: «¿Por qué no puedo seguirte ahora? Yo daré mi vida por ti».
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.	38 Jesús le respondió: «¿Darás tu vida por mí? Te aseguro que no cantará el gallo antes que me hayas negado tres veces».
