1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.	1 Antes de la fiesta de la Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que había llegado su hora de pasar de este mundo al Padre, habiendo amado a los suyos que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el extremo.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;	2 Durante la cena, cuando ya el diablo había puesto en el corazón a Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el propósito de entregarle,
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;	3 sabiendo que el Padre le había puesto todo en sus manos y que había salido de Dios y a Dios volvía,
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.	4 se levanta de la mesa, se quita sus vestidos y, tomando una toalla, se la ciñó.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.	5 Luego echa agua en un lebrillo y se puso a lavar los pies de los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla con que estaba ceñido.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?	6 Llega a Simón Pedro; éste le dice: «Señor, ¿tú lavarme a mí los pies?»
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.	7 Jesús le respondió: «Lo que yo hago, tú no lo entiendes ahora: lo comprenderás más tarde».
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.	8 Le dice Pedro: «No me lavarás los pies jamás». Jesús le respondió: «Si no te lavo, no tienes parte conmigo».
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.	9 Le dice Simón Pedro: «Señor, no sólo los pies, sino hasta las manos y la cabeza».
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.	10 Jesús le dice: «El que se ha bañado, no necesita lavarse; está del todo limpio. Y vosotros estáis limpios, aunque no todos».
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.	11 Sabía quién le iba a entregar, y por eso dijo: «No estáis limpios todos».
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?	12 Después que les lavó los pies, tomó sus vestidos, volvió a la mesa, y les dijo: «¿Comprendéis lo que he hecho con vosotros?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.	13 Vosotros me llamáis “el Maestro” y “el Señor”, y decís bien, porque lo soy.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.	14 Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, os he lavado los pies, vosotros también debéis lavaros los pies unos a otros.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.	15 Porque os he dado ejemplo, para que también vosotros hagáis como yo he hecho con vosotros.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.	16 «En verdad, en verdad os digo: no es más el siervo que su amo, ni el enviado más que el que le envía.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.	17 «Sabiendo esto, dichosos seréis si lo cumplís.
18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.	18 No me refiero a todos vosotros; yo conozco a los que he elegido; pero tiene que cumplirse la Escritura: El que come mi pan ha alzado contra mí su talón.
19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.	19 «Os lo digo desde ahora, antes de que suceda, para que, cuando suceda, creáis que Yo Soy.
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.	20 En verdad, en verdad os digo: quien acoja al que yo envíe me acoge a mí, y quien me acoja a mí, acoge a Aquel que me ha enviado».
21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.	21 Cuando dijo estas palabras, Jesús se turbó en su interior y declaró: «En verdad, en verdad os digo que uno de vosotros me entregará».
22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.	22 Los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, sin saber de quién hablaba.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.	23 Uno de sus discípulos, el que Jesús amaba, estaba a la mesa al lado de Jesús.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.	24 Simón Pedro le hace una seña y le dice: «Pregúntale de quién está hablando».
25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?	25 El, recostándose sobre el pecho de Jesús, le dice: «Señor, ¿quién es?»
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.	26 Le responde Jesús: «Es aquel a quien dé el bocado que voy a mojar». Y, mojando el bocado, le toma y se lo da a Judas, hijo de Simón Iscariote.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.	27 Y entonces, tras el bocado, entró en él Satanás. Jesús le dice: «Lo que vas a hacer, hazlo pronto».
28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.	28 Pero ninguno de los comensales entendió por qué se lo decía.
29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.	29 Como Judas tenía la bolsa, algunos pensaban que Jesús quería decirle: «Compra lo que nos hace falta para la fiesta», o que diera algo a los pobres.
30 He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.	30 En cuanto tomó Judas el bocado, salió. Era de noche.
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.	31 Cuando salió, dice Jesús: «Ahora ha sido glorificado el Hijo del hombre y Dios ha sido glorificado en él.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.	32 Si Dios ha sido glorificado en él, Dios también le glorificará en sí mismo y le glorificará pronto».
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.	33 «Hijos míos, ya poco tiempo voy a estar con vosotros. Vosotros me buscaréis, y, lo mismo que les dije a los judíos, que adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir, os digo también ahora a vosotros.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.	34 Os doy un mandamiento nuevo: que os améis los unos a los otros. Que, como yo os he amado, así os améis también vosotros los unos a los otros.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.	35 En esto conocerán todos que sois discípulos míos: si os tenéis amor los unos a los otros».
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.	36 Simón Pedro le dice: «Señor, ¿a dónde vas?» Jesús le respondió: «Adonde yo voy no puedes seguirme ahora; me seguirás más tarde».
37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.	37 Pedro le dice: «¿Por qué no puedo seguirte ahora? Yo daré mi vida por ti».
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.	38 Le responde Jesús: «¿Que darás tu vida por mí? En verdad, en verdad te digo: no cantará el gallo antes que tú me hayas negado tres veces».
