KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.1 Jesus left the temple area and was going away, when his disciples approached him to point out the temple buildings.
And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.2 He said to them in reply, "You see all these things, do you not? Amen, I say to you, there will not be left here a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?3 As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately and said, "Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be of your coming, and of the end of the age?"
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.4 Jesus said to them in reply, "See that no one deceives you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah,' and they will deceive many.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.6 You will hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen, but it will not yet be the end.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes from place to place.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.8 All these are the beginning of the labor pains.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.9 Then they will hand you over to persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.10 And then many will be led into sin; they will betray and hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.11 Many false prophets will arise and deceive many;
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.12 and because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow cold.
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.13 But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)15 "When you see the desolating abomination spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:16 then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:17 a person on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house,
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.18 a person in the field must not return to get his cloak.
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!19 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days.
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:20 Pray that your flight not be in winter or on the sabbath,
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.21 for at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.22 And if those days had not been shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect they will be shortened.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.23 If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.24 False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.
Behold, I have told you before.25 Behold, I have told it to you beforehand.
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.26 So if they say to you, 'He is in the desert,' do not go out there; if they say, 'He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.27 For just as lightning comes from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.31 And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:32 "Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.33 In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.34 Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.37 For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,38 In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark.
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.39 They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be (also) at the coming of the Son of Man.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.40 Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.42 Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.43 Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.44 So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?45 "Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.46 Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.47 Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,'
And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards,
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,50 the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.51 and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
