King James Bible Le Sainte Bible Vigouroux
And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.1 Maintenant à vous cet ordre, ô prêtres.
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.2 Si vous ne voulez pas écouter, et si vous ne voulez pas appliquer votre cœur à rendre gloire à mon nom, dit le Seigneur des armées, j'enverrai sur vous l'indigence, et je maudirai vos bénédictions ; oui, je les maudirai, parce que vous n'y avez pas appliqué votre cœur (pris à cœur mes paroles).
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.3 Voici, Je vous enlèverai l'épaule des victimes, et Je vous jetterai au visage les ordures de vos sacrifices solennels, et elles vous emporteront avec elles.
And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.4 Et vous saurez que Je vous ai envoyé cet ordre, afin que Mon alliance avec Lévi subsistât, dit le Seigneur des armées.
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.5 J'ai fait avec lui une alliance de vie et de paix ; je lui ai donné la crainte, et il m'a craint, et il a tremblé devant ma face.
The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.6 La loi de vérité a été dans sa bouche, et l'iniquité n'a pas été trouvée sur ses lèvres ; il a marché avec moi dans la paix et dans l'équité, et il a détourné beaucoup d'hommes de l'iniquité.
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.7 Car les lèvres du prêtre garderont la science, et c'est de sa bouche que l'on demandera la loi, parce qu'il est l'ange du Seigneur des armées.
But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.8 Mais vous, vous vous êtes écartés de la voie, et vous avez été pour beaucoup une occasion de scandale dans la loi ; vous avez rendu nulle (vaine) l'alliance de Lévi, dit le Seigneur des armées.
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.9 C'est pourquoi, moi aussi, je vous ai rendu vils et méprisables (abjects) pour tous les peuples, parce que vous n'avez pas gardé mes voies, et que vous avez eu égard aux personnes à propos de la loi.
Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?10 N'avons-nous pas tous un seul Père ? un même Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas créé ?
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.12 Le Seigneur retranchera des tentes de Jacob l'homme qui aura fait cela, qu'il soit maître ou disciple, et quelques dons qu'il offre au Seigneur des armées.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.13 Voici encore ce que vous avez fait : Vous avez couvert l'autel du Seigneur de larmes, de pleurs et de cris ; c'est pourquoi je ne regarderai plus les sacrifices, et je ne recevrai de votre main rien qui puisse m'apaiser.
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.14 Et vous avez dit : Pour quel motif ?
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.15 N'est-elle pas l'ouvrage du même Dieu, et n'est-ce pas son souffle qui l'a animée ?
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.16 (Vous direz peut-être :) Lorsque tu auras conçu de la haine contre elle, dit le Seigneur, Dieu d'Israël, renvoie-la ; mais (or) l'iniquité couvrira son vêtement, dit le Seigneur des armées.
Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?17 Vous avez fait souffrir le Seigneur par vos discours, et vous avez dit : En quoi l'avons-nous fait souffrir ?
