King James Bible Le Sainte Bible Vigouroux
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,1 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes :
Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;2 Fils de (d'un) l'homme, propose une énigme, et raconte une parabole à la maison d'Israël.
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:3 Tu leur diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Un grand aigle, aux grandes ailes, au corps très long, plein de plumes aux diverses couleurs, vint sur le Liban, et emporta la moelle d'un cèdre.
He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.4 Il arracha le sommet de ses branches et le transporta au pays de Chanaan; il le déposa dans la ville des marchands.
He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.5 Il prit de la graine du pays, et il la mit en terre comme une semence, afin qu'elle prît racine et s'affermît auprès d'eaux abondantes ; il la planta sur la surface de la terre.
And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.6 Lorsqu'elle eut poussé, elle crût et devint une vigne étendue, mais basse (de taille), dont les branches regardaient l'aigle, et dont les racines étaient sous lui. Elle devint donc une vigne, et elle porta des sarments, et elle produisit des rejetons.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.7 Il vint ensuite un autre grand aigle, aux grandes ailes et aux plumes épaisses; et voici que cette vigne sembla porter ses racines et étendre ses branches vers lui, afin qu'il l'arrosât comme ses parterres féconds.
It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.8 Elle était plantée dans une bonne terre, près d'eux abondantes, afin de produire des branches, et de porter du fruit, et de devenir une grande vigne.
Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.9 Dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Prospérera-t-elle?
Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.10 La voilà plantée: prospérera-t-elle? Lorsqu'un vent brûlant l'aura touchée, ne séchera-t-elle pas et ne se flétrira-t-elle pas dans le parterre où elle aura poussé?
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,11 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes:
Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;12 Dis à cette maison qui M'irrite: Ne savez-vous pas ce que ces choses signifient? Dis: Voici que le roi de Babylone vient à Jérusalem; il en prendra le roi et les princes, et il les emmènera chez lui à Babylone.
And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:13 Il choisira un membre (prince) de la race royale, il fera alliance avec lui et lui fera prêter le serment ; il énumérera (enlèvera) aussi les vaillants du pays,
That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.14 afin que le royaume demeure humble, sans pouvoir s'élever, et qu'il garde son alliance et qu'il y soit fidèle.
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?15 Mais ce prince, se révoltant contre lui, a envoyé des ambassadeurs en Egypte, afin qu'elle lui donnât des chevaux et de grandes troupes. Celui qui a agi ainsi prospèrera-t-il, et trouvera-t-il le salut ? Celui qui a violé l'alliance échappera-t-il ?
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.16 Par ma vie (Je vis, moi), dit le Seigneur Dieu, c'est dans le pays du monarque qui l'avait établi roi, dont il a violé le serment et rompu l'alliance, c'est au milieu de Babylone qu'il mourra.
Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:17 Et le pharaon (Pharaon) ne fera pas la guerre contre lui avec une grande armée et un peuple nombreux, quand on élèvera (ni par) des retranchements et qu'on bâtira (par) des forts, pour tuer une multitude d'hommes.
Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.18 Car il a(vait) méprisé le serment et rompu l'alliance, quoiqu'il eut donné sa main (à l'Egypte) ; après avoir fait toutes ces choses, il n'échappera pas.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.19 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Par ma vie (Je vis, moi), je ferai retomber sur sa tête le serment qu'il a méprisé, et l'alliance qu'il a rompue.
And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.20 J'étendrai Mon rets sur lui, et il sera pris dans Mon filet; Je l'emmènerai à Babylone, et là Je le jugerai, à cause de la perfidie avec laquelle il M'a méprisé.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.21 Et tous ses fuyards, avec toutes ses troupes, tomberont par l'épée; ceux qui échapperont seront dispersés à tous les vents, et vous saurez que c'est Moi, le Seigneur, qui ai parlé.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:22 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Alors Je prendrai de la moelle du grand cèdre, et Je la placerai; du sommet de ses branches J'arracherai un tendre rameau, et Je le planterai sur une montagne haute et élevée.
In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.23 Je le planterai sur la haute montagne d'Israël; il poussera des rejetons, il portera des fruits et deviendra un grand cèdre; et tous les oiseaux habiteront sous lui, et tout ce qui vole fera son nid sous l'ombre de ses branches.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.24 Et tous les arbres du pays sauront que c'est moi, le Seigneur, qui ai humilié le grand arbre et élevé l'arbre faible (humble), qui ai desséché (un) l'arbre vert et fait reverdir (un) l'arbre sec. Moi, le Seigneur, j'ai parlé et j'ai agi.
