1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
2 Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;	2 «Figlio dell'uomo, proponi un enigma e racconta una parabola alla casa di Israele
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:	3 e dirai: - Così dice il Signore: Un'aquila enorme, dalle ali immense, dalle membra smisurate, piena di piume e versicolore, venne sul Libano e prese la vetta di mezzo del cedro.
4 He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.	4 Gli strappò la punta frondosa e la trasportò nella terra di Canaan deponendola in una città di mercanti.
5 He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.	5 E scelse un semenzaio di quella terra e la pose in terreno da seme, affinchè prendesse radice; presso abbondanti acque, a fior di terra, l'aveva posta.
6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.	6 E messi i germogli crebbe in un'ampia vite di basso fusto coi suoi tralci rivolti a quell'aquila e le sue radici sotto di essa; diventò dunque una vite e gettò i tralci e distese le sue propaggini.
7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.	7 Or v'era un'altra aquila grande, di vaste ali e molte piume; ed ecco cotesta vite farsi come a volgere le radici verso di essa, e a lei stese i suoi tralci dalle aiuole su cui era piantata, affinchè la irrigasse.
8 It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.	8 Eppure era stata piantata in buon terreno, presso acque abbondanti, per coprirsi di fronde e portar frutti e diventare una magnifica vigna . -
9 Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.	9 Ora dirai: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Farà buona riuscita? o non svellerà le sue radici e non adunghierà i suoi frutti e non farà inaridire tutti i pampini del suo rigoglio e non resterà secca? e non di gran braccio, nè di molta gente avrà mestieri per svellerla dalle radici.
10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.	10 Ecco è stata piantata: ma farà riuscita e se il vento infocato l'avrà percossa, non si seccherà e nelle aiuole che la facevano rigogliosa non inaridirà? -».
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	11 E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendomi:
12 Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;	12 «A quella pertinace casa dirai: - Sapete voi ciò che vogliono significare coteste cose? Ecco, dirai, è venuto il re di Babilonia a Gerusalemme e prenderà il re e i suoi principi e li condurrà presso di sè in Babilonia.
13 And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:	13 E prenderà un rampollo della stirpe reale e stringerà alleanza con lui e ne riceverà il giuramento; ma porterà via anche i grandi del paese,
14 That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.	14 affinchè il regno resti basso e non s'innalzi, ma osservi i patti e li mantenga.
15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?	15 Quel rampollo volendo ritirarsi da lui, mandò ambasciatori all'Egitto per ottenere cavalleria e copiosa gente. Avrà prospero successo e giungerà a salvarsi chi ha agito a questa maniera? chi ha rotto l'alleanza, come sfuggirà?
16 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.	16 Vivo io, dice il Signore Dio, che nella residenza di quel sovrano che lo aveva creato re, di cui si fece spergiuro rompendo l'alleanza che aveva seco lui, in mezzo a Babilonia costui morrà.
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:	17 E il Faraone non verrà con grande esercito, nè con gente copiosa per affrontarsi in battaglia, intanto che staranno arginando i fossi e costruendo i terrapieni per menar strage di molte vite.
18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.	18 E quest'altro disprezzò il giuramento per rompere l'alleanza: ecco si son stretti la mano, ma con tutto questo che ha fatto, non troverà uno scampo -».
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.	19 Per ciò, così dice il Signore Dio: «Vivo io, che il giuramento che ha disprezzato e l'alleanza che ha tradita porrò sopra il suo capo.
20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.	20 E stenderò sopra di lui la mia rete e sarà preso nel mio laccio, e lo condurrò in Babilonia, e ivi lo giudicherò pel tradimento fatto in onta a me.
21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.	21 E tutti i suoi fuggitivi, con tutta la sua armata cadranno sotto la spada, e quei che saranno rimasti disperderò a tutti i vènti, e saprete che io il Signore ho parlato».
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:	22 Così dice il Signore Dio: «E io prenderò un virgulto del cedro sublime, e lo deporrò in un luogo; dalla punta dei suoi rami un tenero rampollo coglierò e lo pianterò sopra un monte elevato e prominente.
23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.	23 Sul monte sublime di Israele lo pianterò, e metterà fuori il getto e farà frutto e diventerà un cedro magnifico; e verranno tutti gli uccelli ad abitare sotto di esso, e ogni specie di volatile tra le fronde de' suoi rami farà il suo nido.
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.	24 E tutti gli alberi della campagna sapranno, che io, il Signore, ho abbassato l'albero sublime e ho sublimato l'albero abbassato e ho inaridito l'albero rigoglioso e ho rimesso in rigoglio l'albero inaridito. Io, il Signore, ho parlato e ho fatto».
