1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 Az Úr ezt a szózatot intézte hozzám:
2 Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;	2 »Emberfia, adj fel talányt és mondj példázatot Izrael házának,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:	3 és mondd: Így szól az Úr Isten: A hatalmas, nagyszárnyú sas, hatalmas szárnycsapásokkal, sűrű, tarka tollazattalelment a Libanonra, és elvitte egy cédrusfa hegyét.
4 He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.	4 Legfelső ágát letörte és átvitte a kereskedők országába; a kereskedők városába tette le.
5 He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.	5 S vett az ország magvából és a vetésre váró földbe helyezte, hogy gyökeret verjen a bőséges víz mellett; a föld színére helyezte.
6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.	6 Az kisarjadzott és szélesen elterülő, alacsony tőkéjű szőlővé növekedett, hogy ágai feléje forduljanak és gyökerei alatta legyenek. Szőlővé lett tehát, venyigéket növesztett és hajtásokat eresztett.
7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.	7 Volt egy másik hatalmas, nagyszárnyú, sűrű tollazatú sas is; és íme, az a szőlő mintha efelé nyújtotta volna gyökereit, efelé terjesztette volna ki vesszeit, hogy ez táplálja őt nedvességgel ültetésének ágyaiból.
8 It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.	8 Jó földbe, sok víz mellé volt ültetve, hogy lombot hajtson és gyümölcsöt teremjen, hogy nagy szőlőtővé legyen.
9 Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.	9 És mondd: Így szól az Úr Isten: Vajon jól fog-e járni? Vajon az nem fogja-e kitépni gyökereit, leszakítani gyümölcseit és elfonnyasztani minden kisarjadt vesszejét, hogy elszáradjon? Nem is kell hozzá sem hatalmas kar, sem nagyszámú nép, hogy gyökerestül kitépje!
10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.	10 Íme, el van ültetve; vajon jól fog-e járni? Ha megérinti a perzselő szél, nem fonnyad-e el, és ágyának barázdáiban nem szárad-e el?«
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	11 Akkor az Úr ezt a szózatot intézte hozzám:
12 Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;	12 »Ezt mondd az ellenszegülő háznak: Nem tudjátok, mit jelentenek ezek? Mondd: Íme, Babilon királya Jeruzsálembe érkezett, elhurcolta királyát és fejedelmeit és elvitte őket magához Babilonba.
13 And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:	13 Aztán fogott valakit a királyi nemzetségből, szövetségre lépett vele és esküt vett ki tőle; de az ország hatalmasait is elvitte,
14 That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.	14 hogy az jelentéktelen királyság legyen és fel ne fuvalkodjék, hanem őrizze meg szövetségét és tartsa meg azt.
15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?	15 Ő azonban elpártolt tőle és követeket küldött Egyiptomba, hogy neki lovakat és nagy sereget adjon. Vajon jól fog-e járni vagy megszabadulhat-e, aki így cselekedett? Vajon megmenekülhet-e, aki megszegte a szövetséget?
16 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.	16 Életemre mondom, én, az Úr Isten: Ama király lakóhelyén, aki őt királlyá tette, akinek esküjét megszegte és vele kötött szövetségét felbontotta, Babilon területén fog meghalni!
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:	17 Mert a fáraó nem visel majd ellene hadat nagy hadsereggel, sem sok hadinéppel, amikor az majd töltést készít és sáncot emel, hogy számos embert megöljön.
18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.	18 Mert semmibe vette az esküt és megszegte a szövetséget, holott íme, kezet adott rá; és mivel mindezeket cselekedte, nem fog megmenekülni.
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.	19 Ezért így szól az Úr Isten: Életemre mondom: Az esküt, amelyet semmibe vett, és a szövetséget, amelyet megszegett, az ő fejére fordítom!
20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.	20 Kivetem rá hálómat és megfogom őt varsámban és elviszem Babilonba, és ott megítélem hűtlensége miatt, amellyel engem megvetett.
21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.	21 S mindazok, akik vele megfutottak egész seregével együtt, kard által esnek el; akik pedig életben maradnak, a szél minden irányába szétszóródnak, és megtudjátok, hogy én, az Úr, szóltam!«
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:	22 Így szól az Úr Isten: »Akkor majd én is veszek egy ágat a magas cédrusfa tetejéről és elültetem; ágainak tetejéről egy gyönge ágat letörök, és elültetem egy magas és kiemelkedő hegyen.
23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.	23 Izrael magas hegyén ültetem el, kisarjadzik majd és gyümölcsöt terem, és nagy cédrussá lesz; alatta laknak majd a madarak mind, és fészket rak valamennyi szárnyas lombjainak árnyékában;
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.	24 Akkor megtudja majd a vidék minden fája, hogy én, az Úr, aláztam meg a magas fát és magasztaltam fel az alacsony fát; hogy én szárítottam ki a zöldellő fát és borítottam virágba a száraz fát. Én, az Úr, szóltam, és meg is cselekedtem!«
