Ezekiel 17

KING JAMES BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
2 Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;	2 Hijo de hombre, plantea un enigma y narra una parábola a la casa de Israel.
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:	3 Tú dirás: Así habla el Señor: El águila grande, de grandes alas y largas plumas, de espeso plumaje, lleno de colorido, llegó hasta el Líbano y tomó la copa de un cedro.
4 He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.	4 Arrancó la más alta de sus ramas y la llevó a un país de comerciantes, la puso en una ciudad de mercaderes.
5 He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.	5 Tomó además una semilla del país y la sembró en un campo de cultivo: la plantó como un sauce junto a abundantes aguas.
6 And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.	6 Ella brotó y se convirtió en una vid, exuberante, de tamaño pequeño, que volvía sus ramas hacia el águila y tenía sus raíces debajo de ella. Así se convirtió en una vid, produjo ramas y dio sarmientos.
7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.	7 Pero había otra águila grande, de grandes alas y abundante plumaje, y esa vid le tendió ansiosamente sus raíces y dirigió sus ramas hacia ella, para que la regara mejor que el terreno donde había sido plantada.
8 It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.	8 Ella estaba plantada en un campo fértil, junto a abundantes aguas, para dar sarmientos y producir frutos, para convertirse en una espléndida vid.
9 Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.	9 Por eso, dirás: Así habla el Señor: ¿Podrá florecer esa vid? ¿Acaso no se la arrancará de raíz y se cortarán sus frutos para que se sequen todos sus tiernos retoños? Sí, se secará, y no hará falta un brazo fuerte ni mucha gente para arrancarla de raíz.
10 Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.	10 Ahora está bien plantada: ¿podrá florecer? Apenas la toque el viento del este, ¿no quedará completamente seca? ¡En el mismo lugar donde brotó, se secará!
11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	11 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
12 Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;	12 Di a este pueblo rebelde: ¿No saben lo que esto significa? Luego dirás: El rey de Babilonia llegó a Jerusalén, tomó a su rey y a sus príncipes y se los llevó consigo a Babilonia.
13 And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:	13 Tomó, en cambio, a un vástago de estirpe real, hizo un pacto con él, lo comprometió con un juramento y se llevó a todos los hombres importantes del país,
14 That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.	14 para que ese reino fuera humilde e incapaz de sublevarse, para que mantuviera su pacto, y así pudiera subsistir.
15 But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?	15 Pero el príncipe se rebeló contra el rey, enviando mensajeros a Egipto a fin de obtener caballos y un ejército numeroso. Ahora bien, ¿prosperará el que ha hecho esto? El que violó el pacto, ¿escapará con vida?
16 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.	16 Juro por mi vida –oráculo del Señor– que él morirá en Babilonia, en el lugar donde reside el rey que lo hizo reinar, cuyo juramento despreció y cuyo pacto quebrantó.
17 Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:	17 Y el Faraón no podrá intervenir en favor de él con un gran ejército y tropas numerosas, en el momento del combate, cuando se levante terraplenes y se construyan empalizadas para exterminar muchas vidas humanas.
18 Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.	18 El príncipe despreció un juramento y quebrantó un pacto; había dado su mano, y después hizo todo esto: ¡no escapará con vida!
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.	19 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Juro por mi vida que haré recaer sobre su cabeza; mi juramento, que él despreció, y mi pacto, que él quebrantó.
20 And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.	20 Tenderé sobre él mi red y quedará prendido en mi trampa. Lo llevaré a Babilonia, y allí le haré rendir cuenta de la infidelidad que cometió contra mí,
21 And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.	21 Lo mejor de sus escuadrones caerá bajo la espada, y los sobrevivientes serán dispersados a todos los vientos. Así sabrán que yo, el Señor, he hablado.
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:	22 Así habla el Señor: Yo también tomaré la copa de un gran cedro, cortaré un brote de la más alta de sus ramas, y lo plantaré en una montaña muy elevada:
23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.	23 lo plantaré en la montaña más alta de Israel. El echará ramas y producirá frutos, y se convertirá en un magnífico cedro. Pájaros de todas clases anidarán en él, habitarán a la sombre de sus ramas.
24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.	24 Y todos los árboles del campo sabrán que yo, el Señor, humillo al árbol elevado y exalto al árbol humillado, hago secar el árbol verde y reverdecer al árbol seco. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho y lo haré.
