King James Bible La Biblia
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.1 Escuchadme, islas; atended, pueblos lejanos: | El Señor me llamó desde el vientre materno, | de las entrañas de mi madre, y pronunció mi nombre.
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;2 Hizo de mi boca una espada afilada, | me escondió en la sombra de su mano; | me hizo flecha bruñida, me guardó en su aljaba
And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.3 y me dijo: «Tú eres mi siervo, Israel, | por medio de ti me glorificaré».
Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.4 Y yo pensaba: «En vano me he cansado, | en viento y en nada he gastado mis fuerzas». | En realidad el Señor defendía mi causa, | mi recompensa la custodiaba Dios.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.5 Y ahora dice el Señor, | el que me formó desde el vientre como siervo suyo, | para que le devolviese a Jacob, | para que le reuniera a Israel; | he sido glorificado a los ojos de Dios. | Y mi Dios era mi fuerza:
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.6 «Es poco que seas mi siervo | para restablecer las tribus de Jacob | y traer de vuelta a los supervivientes de Israel. | Te hago luz de las naciones, | para que mi salvación alcance hasta el confín de la tierra».
Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.7 Así dice el Señor, redentor y Santo de Israel, | al despreciado, al aborrecido de las naciones, | al esclavo de los tiranos: | «Te verán los reyes, y se alzarán; | los príncipes, y se postrarán; | porque el Señor es fiel, | porque el Santo de Israel te ha elegido».
Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;8 Así dice el Señor: | «En tiempo de gracia te he respondido, | en día propicio te he auxiliado; | te he defendido y constituido alianza del pueblo, | para restaurar el país, | para repartir heredades desoladas,
That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.9 para decir a los cautivos: “Salid”, | a los que están en tinieblas: “Venid a la luz”. | Aun por los caminos pastarán, | tendrán praderas en todas las dunas;
They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.10 no pasarán hambre ni sed, | no les hará daño el bochorno ni el sol; | porque los conduce el compasivo | y los guía a manantiales de agua.
And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.11 Convertiré mis montes en caminos, | y mis senderos se nivelarán.
Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.12 Miradlos venir de lejos; | miradlos, del Norte y del Poniente, | y los otros de la tierra de Sin.
Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.13 Exulta, cielo; alégrate, tierra; | romped a cantar, montañas, | porque el Señor consuela a su pueblo | y se compadece de los desamparados».
But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.14 Sión decía: «Me ha abandonado el Señor, | mi dueño me ha olvidado».
Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.15 ¿Puede una madre olvidar al niño que amamanta, | no tener compasión del hijo de sus entrañas? | Pues, aunque ella se olvidara, yo no te olvidaré.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.16 Mira, te llevo tatuada en mis palmas, | tus muros están siempre ante mí.
Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.17 Se apresuran los que te reconstruyen; | tus destructores, los que te arrasaban, se alejan de ti.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.18 Alza tus ojos en torno y mira: | todos se reúnen, vienen hacia ti. | Por mi vida —oráculo del Señor—, | a todos los llevarás como vestido precioso, | te los ceñirás como una novia.
For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.19 Porque tus ruinas, tus lugares desolados, tu país destruido | resultarán estrechos para tus habitantes, | mientras se alejarán los que te devoraban.
The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.20 Los hijos que dabas por perdidos te dirán otra vez: | «Este lugar es estrecho para mí, | hazme sitio para establecerme».
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?21 Y tú pensarás para tus adentros: | «¿Quién me engendró a estos? | Si yo no tengo hijos y soy estéril; | si he estado desterrada y repudiada, | ¿quién me los ha criado? | Me habían dejado sola, | ¿de dónde salen estos?».
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.22 Esto dice el Señor: | «Mira, alzo mi mano hacia las naciones, | levanto mi estandarte hacia los pueblos: | traerán a tus hijos en brazos, | tus hijas serán llevadas a hombros.
And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.23 Sus reyes serán tus ayos; | sus princesas, tus nodrizas; | se postrarán ante ti, rostro en tierra, | lamerán el polvo de tus pies | y sabrás que yo soy el Señor, | que no defraudo a quien confía en mí.
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?24 ¿Se le puede quitar la presa a un soldado, | se le escapa su prisionero al vencedor?
But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.25 Pues esto dice el Señor: | Aunque quiten el prisionero a un soldado | y se escape la presa al vencedor, | yo mismo defenderé tu causa, | yo mismo salvaré a tus hijos.
And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.26 Tus opresores comerán su propia carne, | se embriagarán de su sangre como de vino; | y todos sabrán que yo soy el Señor, tu salvador, | y que tu libertador es el Fuerte de Jacob».
