1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.	1 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, der auch Edom hieß:
2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;	2 Esau nahm sich seine Frauen aus den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter des Hetiters Elon, Oholibama, die Tochter des Ana, eines Sohnes des Hiwiters Zibon,
3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.	3 und Basemat, die Tochter Ismaels, eine Schwester Nebajots.
4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;	4 Ada gebar dem Esau Elifas, Basemat gebar Reguël
5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.	5 und Oholibama gebar Jëusch, Jalam und Korach. Das waren die Söhne Esaus, die ihm in Kanaan geboren wurden.
6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.	6 Esau nahm seine Frauen, Söhne und Töchter, alle Personen seines Hauses und seinen Besitz, all sein Vieh und seine ganze Habe, die er in Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog in ein anderes Land, fort von seinem Bruder Jakob.
7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.	7 Ihr Besitz war nämlich zu groß, als dass sie zusammen hätten wohnen können. Das Land, in dem sie lebten, konnte wegen ihres Viehbestandes nicht beide ernähren.
8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.	8 So ließ sich Esau im Bergland Seïr nieder. Esau ist Edom.
9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:	9 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, dem Stammvater von Edom im Bergland Seïr.
10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.	10 Die Namen der Söhne Esaus sind: Elifas, der Sohn der Ada, der Frau Esaus, und Reguël, der Sohn Basemats, der Frau Esaus.
11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.	11 Die Söhne des Elifas sind: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam und Kenas.
12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.	12 Timna war die Nebenfrau des Elifas, des Sohnes Esaus. Sie gebar dem Elifas Amalek. Das waren die Söhne Adas, der Frau Esaus.
13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.	13 Die Söhne Reguëls sind: Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa. Das waren die Söhne Basemats, der Frau Esaus.
14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.	14 Die Söhne, die Oholibama, die Frau Esaus und Tochter Anas, eines Sohnes Zibons, Esau gebar, sind: Jëusch, Jalam und Korach.
15 These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,	15 Das sind die Häuptlinge der Söhne Esaus: die Söhne des Elifas, des Erstgeborenen Esaus: Häuptling Teman, Häuptling Omar, Häuptling Zefo, Häuptling Kenas,
16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.	16 Häuptling Korach, Häuptling Gatam, Häuptling Amalek. Das waren die Häuptlinge des Elifas in Edom, lauter Söhne der Ada.
17 And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.	17 Das sind die Söhne Reguëls, des Sohnes Esaus: Häuptling Nahat, Häuptling Serach, Häuptling Schamma, Häuptling Misa. Das waren die Häuptlinge Reguëls in Edom; sie waren die Söhne Basemats, der Frau Esaus.
18 And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.	18 Das sind die Söhne Oholibamas, der Frau Esaus: Häuptling Jëusch, Häuptling Jalam, Häuptling Korach. Das waren die Häuptlinge, die von Oholibama, der Frau Esaus und Tochter Anas, abstammten.
19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.	19 Das waren also die Söhne Esaus und deren Häuptlinge. Das ist Edom.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,	20 Das sind die Söhne des Horiters Seïr, die Einwohner des Landes: Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana,
21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.	21 Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Das waren die Häuptlinge der Horiter, der Söhne Seïrs, in Edom.
22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 Die Söhne Lotans sind: Hori und Hemam. Die Schwester Lotans ist Timna.
23 And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.	23 Das sind die Söhne Schobals: Alwan, Manahat, Ebal, Schefi und Onam.
24 And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.	24 Die Söhne Zibons sind: Aja und Ana. Das ist jener Ana, der das Wasser in der Wüste fand, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibon weidete.
25 And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.	25 Die Kinder Anas sind: Dischon und Oholibama, die Tochter Anas.
26 And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.	26 Die Söhne Dischons sind: Hemdan, Eschban, Jitran und Keran.
27 The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.	27 Die Söhne Ezers sind: Bilhan, Saawan und Akan.
28 The children of Dishan are these: Uz, and Aran.	28 Die Söhne Dischans sind: Uz und Aran.
29 These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,	29 Die Häuptlinge der Horiter sind: Häuptling Lotan, Häuptling Schobal, Häuptling Zibon, Häuptling Ana,
30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.	30 Häuptling Dischon, Häuptling Ezer, Häuptling Dischan. Das waren die Häuptlinge der Horiter nach ihren Stämmen in Seïr.
31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.	31 Die Könige, die in Edom regierten, bevor bei den Israeliten ein König regierte, waren folgende:
32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.	32 In Edom regierte Bela, der Sohn Beors; seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba.
33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.	33 Als Bela starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Jobab, der Sohn Serachs aus Bozra.
34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.	34 Als Jobab starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Huscham aus dem Land der Temaniter.
35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.	35 Als Huscham starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, der Midian im Grünland von Moab schlug; seine Stadt hieß Awit.
36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.	36 Als Hadad starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Samla aus Masreka.
37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.	37 Als Samla starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Schaul aus Rehobot am Strom (Eufrat).
38 And Saul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.	38 Als Schaul starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors.
39 And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.	39 Als Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Hadar; seine Stadt hieß Pagu. Seine Frau hieß Mehetabel; sie war die Tochter Matreds und Enkelin Me-Sahabs.
40 And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,	40 Das sind die Namen der Häuptlinge Esaus nach ihren Sippenverbänden, Orten und Namen: Häuptling Timna, Häuptling Alwa, Häuptling Jetet,
41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,	41 Häuptling Oholibama, Häuptling Ela, Häuptling Pinon,
42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,	42 Häuptling Kenas, Häuptling Teman, Häuptling Mibzar,
43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.	43 Häuptling Magdiël, Häuptling Iram. Das waren die Häuptlinge Edoms nach ihren Siedlungsgebieten in dem Land, das sie besaßen. So viel über Esau, den Stammvater von Edom.
