1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.	1 Voici la descendance d’Ésaü (ou Édom).
2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;	2 Ésaü épousa des filles de Canaan: Ada, fille d’Élon le Hittite, Oholibama, fille d’Ana fils de Sibéon le Horite,
3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.	3 Basmat, fille d’Ismaël et sœur de Nébayot.
4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;	4 Ada donna un fils à Ésaü, Élifaz, et Basmat lui donna Réouel.
5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.	5 Oholibama donna le jour à Yéouch, Yalam et Korah. Ce sont les fils d’Ésaü qui naquirent au pays de Canaan.
6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.	6 Ésaü prit ses femmes, ses fils, ses filles, tous les gens de sa maison, son troupeau, son bétail, tous les biens qu’il avait amassés au pays de Canaan, et il partit au pays de Séïr, loin de son frère Jacob.
7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.	7 En effet, leurs biens étaient trop importants pour qu’ils puissent habiter ensemble: la terre qu’ils parcouraient ne suffisait pas pour leurs troupeaux.
8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.	8 Ésaü habita donc à la montagne de Séïr (Ésaü est aussi nommé Édom).
9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:	9 Voici la descendance d’Ésaü, l’ancêtre des Édomites, dans la montagne de Séïr.
10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.	10 Les fils d’Ésaü étaient: Élifaz, le fils d’Ada femme d’Ésaü, et Réouel, le fils de Basmat femme d’Ésaü.
11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.	11 Élifaz eut des fils: Téman, Omar, Séfo, Gatam et Kénaz.
12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.	12 Élifaz fils d’Ésaü, eut pour concubine Timna, qui lui donna un fils, Amalec. Ceux-ci sont les fils d’Ada femme d’Ésaü.
13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.	13 Voici les fils de Réouel: Nahat, Zérah, Chamma et Mizza. Ils sont les fils de Basmat femme d’Ésaü.
14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.	14 Voici les fils d’Oholibama, fille d’Ana, fils de Sibéon, la femme d’Ésaü: elle lui donna des fils Yéouch, Yalam et Korah.
15 These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,	15 Voici les chefs des Édomites: fils d’Élifaz premier-né d’Ésaü: le chef Téman, le chef Omar, le chef Séfo, le chef Kénaz,
16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.	16 le chef Korah, le chef Gatam, le chef Amalec. Ce sont les chefs d’Élifaz au pays des Édomites: ils sont fils d’Ada.
17 And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.	17 Voici maintenant les fils de Réouel, fils d’Ésaü: Le chef Nahat, le chef Zéram, le chef Chamma, le chef Mizza. Ce sont les chefs de Réouel au pays des Édomites: ils sont fils de Basmat, femme d’Ésaü.
18 And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.	18 Voici les fils d’Oholibama, la femme d’Ésaü: le chef Yéouch, le chef Yalam, le chef Korah. Ce sont les chefs d’Oholibama, fille d’Ana, femme d’Ésaü.
19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.	19 Voici donc les fils d’Ésaü, ainsi que les chefs du pays d’Édom.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,	20 Voici les fils de Séïr le Horite qui séjournent dans le pays: Lotan, Chobal, Sibéon, Ana,
21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.	21 Dichon, Éser, Dichan sont les chefs des Horites, les fils de Séïr, au pays d’Édom.
22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 Hori et Hémam sont les fils de Lotan. Timna était la sœur de Lotan.
23 And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.	23 Voici maintenant les fils de Chobal: Alvan, Manahat, Ébal, Séfo, Onam.
24 And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.	24 Voici les fils de Sibéon: Ayya, Ana. C’est Ana qui trouva les eaux chaudes au désert en faisant paître les ânes de son père Sibéon.
25 And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.	25 Voici les enfants d’Ana: Dichon, Oholibama fille d’Ana.
26 And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.	26 Voici les fils de Dichon: Hemdan, Echban, Yitran, Kéran.
27 The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.	27 Voici les fils d’Éser: Bilhan, Zaavan, Aqan.
28 The children of Dishan are these: Uz, and Aran.	28 Voici les fils de Dichan: Ous et Aran.
29 These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,	29 Voici les chefs des Horites: le chef Lotan, le chef Chobal, le chef Sibéon, le chef Ana,
30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.	30 le chef Dichon, le chef Éser, le chef Dichan. Ce sont les chefs des Horites selon leurs clans, dans le pays de Séïr.
31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.	31 Voici maintenant les rois qui régnèrent sur les Édomites, avant que ne règne un roi sur Israël.
32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.	32 En Édom régna Béla fils de Béor, sa ville était Dinhaba.
33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.	33 Béla mourut et Yobab fils de Zérah de Bosra, régna à sa place.
34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.	34 Yobab mourut et Oucham du pays des Témanites régna à sa place.
35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.	35 Oucham mourut et Hadad fils de Bédad régna à sa place. C’est lui qui battit les Madianites dans les champs de Moab, sa capitale était Avvit.
36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.	36 Hadad mourut et Samla de Masréka régna à sa place.
37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.	37 Samla mourut et Chaoul de Réhobot-Ha-Nahar régna à sa place.
38 And Saul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.	38 Chaoul mourut et Baal-Hanan fils d’Akbor régna à sa place.
39 And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.	39 Baal-Hanan fils d’Akbor mourut et Hadad régna à sa place sa capitale était Paü et sa femme était Méhétabéel, fille de Matred de Mé-Zahab.
40 And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,	40 Voici les noms des autres chefs d’Ésaü selon leurs clans et leurs lieux, voici donc leurs noms: le chef Timna, le chef Alva, le chef Yetèt,
41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,	41 le chef Oholibama, le chef Éla, le chef Pinon,
42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,	42 le chef Kénaz, le chef Téman, le chef Mibsar,
43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.	43 le chef Magdiel, le chef Iram. Voilà les chefs d’Édom, selon leurs implantations dans le pays qu’ils possédaient. Ésaü est l’ancêtre des Édomites.
