Livre des Proverbes 19

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Mieux vaut le pauvre qui se conduit honnêtement que l'homme aux lèvres tortueuses et qui n'estqu'un sot.	1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Où manque le savoir, le zèle n'est pas bon, qui presse le pas se fourvoie.	2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3 La folie de l'homme pervertit sa conduite et c'est contre Yahvé que son coeur s'emporte.	3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4 La richesse multiplie les amis, mais de son ami le pauvre est privé.	4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5 Le faux témoin ne restera pas impuni, qui profère des mensonges n'échappera point.	5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
6 Beaucoup flattent en face l'homme généreux, tout le monde est ami de celui qui donne.	6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
7 Tous les frères du pauvre le haïssent, à plus forte raison, ses amis s'éloignent-ils de lui. Il se meten quête de paroles, mais point!	7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8 Qui acquiert du sens se chérit lui-même, qui garde l'intelligence trouve le bonheur.	8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 Le faux témoin ne restera pas impuni, qui profère des mensonges périra.	9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
10 Il ne sied pas au sot de vivre dans le luxe, moins encore à l'esclave de dominer les princes.	10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Le bon sens rend l'homme lent à la colère, sa fierté, c'est de passer sur une offense.	11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Comme le rugissement du lion, la fureur du roi, mais comme la rosée sur l'herbe, sa faveur.	12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
13 C'est une calamité pour son père qu'un fils insensé, une gargouille qui ne cesse de couler queles querelles d'une femme.	13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 Une maison et du bien sont l'héritage paternel, mais c'est Yahvé qui donne une femme de sens.	14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15 La paresse fait choir dans la torpeur, l'âme nonchalante aura faim.	15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 A garder le commandement on se garde soi-même, mais qui méprise ses voies mourra.	16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
17 Qui fait la charité au pauvre prête à Yahvé qui paiera le bienfait de retour.	17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
18 Tant qu'il y a de l'espoir, châtie ton fils, mais ne t'emporte pas jusqu'à le faire mourir.	18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
19 L'homme violent s'expose à l'amende; si tu l'épargnes, tu augmentes son mal.	19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
20 Entends le conseil, accepte la discipline, pour être sage à la fin.	20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Nombreux sont les projets au coeur de l'homme, mais le dessein de Yahvé, lui, reste ferme.	21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22 Ce qu'on souhaite, chez l'homme, c'est la miséricorde; on aime mieux un pauvre qu'un menteur.	22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 La crainte de Yahvé mène à la vie, on a vivre et couvert sans craindre le malheur.	23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 Le paresseux plonge la main dans le plat, mais ne peut même pas la ramener à sa bouche.	24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Frappe le railleur, et le niais deviendra avisé; reprends un homme intelligent, il comprendra lesavoir.	25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26 Qui maltraite son père et chasse sa mère est un fils indigne et infâme.	26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
27 Cesse, mon fils, d'écouter l'instruction pour t'écarter des paroles de science!	27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
28 Un témoin indigne se moque du droit; la bouche des méchants avale l'iniquité.	28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Les châtiments sont faits pour les railleurs, les coups pour l'échine des sots.	29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
