DOUAI-RHEIMS	JERUSALEM
1 But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine:	1 Pour toi, enseigne ce qui est conforme à la saine doctrine.
2 That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.	2 Que les vieillards soient sobres, dignes, pondérés, robustes dans la foi, la charité, la constance.
3 The aged women, in like manner, in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well:	3 Que pareillement les femmes âgées aient le comportement qui sied à des saintes: ni médisantes, niadonnées au vin, mais de bon conseil;
4 That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children,	4 ainsi elles apprendront aux jeunes femmes à aimer leur mari et leurs enfants,
5 To be discreet, chaste, sober, having a care of the house, gentle, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.	5 à être réservées, chastes, femmes d'intérieur, bonnes, soumises à leur mari, en sorte que la parole deDieu ne soit pas blasphémée.
6 Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober.	6 Exhorte également les jeunes gens à garder en tout la pondération,
7 In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity,	7 offrant en ta personne un exemple de bonne conduite: pureté de doctrine, dignité,
8 The sound word that can not be blamed: that he, who is on the contrary part, may be afraid, having no evil to say of us.	8 enseignement sain, irréprochable, afin que l'adversaire, ne pouvant dire aucun mal de nous, soit remplide confusion.
9 Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters, in all things pleasing, not gainsaying:	9 Que les esclaves soient soumis en tout à leurs maîtres, cherchant à leur donner satisfaction, évitant deles contredire,
10 Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things:	10 ne commettant aucune indélicatesse, se montrant au contraire d'une parfaite fidélité: ainsi feront-ilshonneur en tout à la doctrine de Dieu notre Sauveur.
11 For the grace of God our Savior hath appeared to all men;	11 Car la grâce de Dieu, source de salut pour tous les hommes, s'est manifestée,
12 Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and justly, and godly in this world,	12 nous enseignant à renoncer à l'impiété et aux convoitises de ce monde, pour vivre en ce siècle présentdans la réserve, la justice et la piété,
13 Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ,	13 attendant la bienheureuse espérance et l'Apparition de la gloire de notre grand Dieu et Sauveur, leChrist Jésus
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.	14 qui s'est livré pour nous afin de nous racheter de toute iniquité et de purifier un peuple qui luiappartienne en propre, zélé pour le bien.
15 These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.	15 C'est ainsi que tu dois parler, exhorter, reprendre avec une autorité entière. Que personne ne teméprise.
