1 The sons of wisdom are the church of the just: and their generation, obedience and love.	1 Os filhos da sabedoria foram assembleia dos justos, e o povo que constituem e obediência e amor (de Deus).
2 Children, hear the judgment of your father, and so do that you may be saved.	2 Ouvi, filhos, os preceitos do vosso pai, e procedei assim para que sejais salvos.
3 For God hath made the father honourable to the children: and seeking the judgment of the mothers, hath confirmed it upon the children.	3 Porque Deus quis honrar o pai pelos filhos e firmou cuidadosamente sobre eles a autoridade da mãe.
4 He that loveth God, shall obtain pardon for his sine by prayer, and shall refrain himself from them, and shall be heard in the prayer of days.	4 O que ama a Deus implorará o perdão dos seus pecados, e se absterá de tornar a cair neles, e será ouvido na sua oração de todos os dias.
5 And he that honoureth his mother is as one that layeth up a treasure.	5 Como quem acumula tesouros, assim é aquele que honra sua mãe.
6 He that honoureth his father shall have joy in his own children, and in the day of his prayer he shall be heard.	6 O que honra seu pai encontrará alegria nos seus filhos, e será atendido no dia da sua oração.
7 He that honoureth his father shall enjoy a long life: and he that obeyeth the father, shall be a comfort to his mother.	7 O que honra seu pai viverá uma vida larga: e consola sua mãe quem obedece a seu pai.
8 He that feareth the Lord, honoureth his parents, and will serve them as his masters that brought him into the world.	8 O que teme O Senhor honra seus pais; e servirá, como a senhores, aos que o geraram.
9 Honour thy father, in work and word, and all patience,	9 Honra teu pai por acções, por palavras e com toda a paciência,
10 That a blessing may come upon thee from him, and his blessing may remain in the latter end.	10 para que venha sobre ti a sua bênção, e esta bênção permaneça contigo até ao fim,
11 The father's blessing establisheth the houses of the children: but the mother's curse rooteth up the foundation.	11 A bênção do pai torna firmes as casas dos filhos, e a maldição da mãe deita-as abaixo pelos alicerces.
12 Glory not in the dishonour of thy father: for his shame is no glory to thee.	12 Não te glories com aquilo que desonra teu pai porque a sua ignomínia não é glória para ti.
13 For the glory of a man is from the honour of his father, and a father without honour is the disgrace of the son.	13 Com efeito, a glória do homem provém da honra de seu pai, e um pai sem honra é a vergonha de seu filho.
14 Son, support the old age of thy father, and grieve him not in his life;	14 Filho, ampara a velhice de teu pai não o entristeças durante a sua vida.
15 And if his understanding fail, have patience with him, and despise him not when thou art in thy strength: for the relieving of the father shall not be forgotten.	15 Se o seu espírito se for enfraquecendo, suporta-o não o desprezes por teres mais vigor do que ele pois a caridade exercida com teu pai, não ficará no esquecimento.
16 For good shall be repaid to thee for the sin of thy mother.	16 Serás recompensado por teres suportado os defeitos de tua mãe:
17 And in justice thou shalt be built up, and in the day of affliction thou shalt be remembered: and thy sine shall melt away as the ice in the fair warm weather.	17 a tua casa prosperará na justiça, e no dia da tribulação (Deus) se lembrará de ti; os teus pecados se desfarão como o gelo em pleno sol.
18 Of what an evil fame is he that forsaketh his father: and he is cursed of God that angereth his mother.	18 Como é infame aquele que desampara o seu pai! E como é amaldiçoado de Deus o que exaspera sua mãe!
19 My son, do thy works in meekness, and thou shalt be beloved above the glory of men.	19 Filho, leva ao cabo as tuas obras com mansidão, e atrairás não só a estima, mas também o amor dos homens.
20 The greater thou art, the more humble thyself in all things, and thou shalt find grace before God:	20 Quanto maior és, mais te deves humilhar em todas as coisas, e acharás graça diante de Deus;
21 For great is the power of God alone, and he is honoured by the humble.	21 Porque só o poder de Deus é que é grande, e é pelos humildes que ele é honrado. Não procures saber o que excede a tua capacidade, e não especules o que ultrapassa as tuas forças (intelectuais), mas pensa sempre no que Deus te mandou, e não tenhas a curiosidade de conhecer demasiado número das suas obras.
22 Seek not the things that are too high for thee, and search not into things above thy ability: but the things that God hath commanded thee, think on them always, and in many of his works be not curious.
23 For it is not necessary for thee to see with thy eyes those things that are hid.	23 Porque não te é necessário ver com os teus olhos o que está escondido.
24 In unnecessary matters be not over curious, and in many of his works thou shalt not be inquisitive.	24 Não te apliques a esquadrinhar com ânsia as coisas inúteis, e não tenhas a curiosidade de conhecer demasiado número das obras de Deus.
25 For many things are shewn to thee above the understanding of men.	25 De facto, muitas coisas te foram reveladas, que excedem o espírito humano.
26 And the suspicion of them hath deceived many, and hath detained their minds in vanity.	26 A muitos enganaram as suas opiniões, e o seu sentir reteve-os na vaidade.
27 A hard heart shall fear evil at the last: and he that loveth danger shall perish in it.	27 O coração duro será oprimido de males no fim (da vida); aquele que ama o perigo perecera nele.
28 A heart that goeth two ways shall not have success, and the perverse of heart shall be scandalized therein.	28 O coração que anda por dois caminhos, não será bem sucedido, e o depravado de coração achará neles a sua ruína.
29 A wicked heart shall be laden with sorrows, and the sinner will add sin to sin.	29 O coração perverso será oprimido de dores, e o pecador ajuntará pecados sobre pecados.
30 The congregation of the proud shall not be healed: for the plant of wickedness shall take root in them, and it shall not be perceived.	30 A assembleia dos soberbos é incurável, porque a planta do pecado se arreigará neles, sem que o notem.
31 The heart of the wise is understood in wisdom, and a good ear will hear wisdom with all desire.	31 O coração do sábio manifesta-se pela sabedoria, e o ouvido dos bons escuta a sabedoria com grande avidez.
32 A wise heart, and which hath understanding, will abstain from sine, and in the works of justice shall have success.	32 O coração sábio e inteligente abstém-se do pecado, e é bem sucedido nas obras de justiça.
33 Water quencheth a flaming fire, and alms resisteth sins:	33 A água apaga o fogo ardente, e a esmola resiste aos pecados.
34 And God provideth for him that sheweth favour: he remembereth him afterwards, and in the time of his fall he shall find a sure stay.	34 Deus contempla aquele que pratica a misericórdia e lembra-se dele para o futuro, e (assim, o misericordioso) no tempo da desgraça encontrará um apoio.
