2 Porgi l’orecchio, Dio, alla mia preghiera,non nasconderti di fronte alla mia supplica.	2 Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication:
3 Dammi ascolto e rispondimi;mi agito ansioso e sono sconvolto
4 dalle grida del nemico, dall’oppressione del malvagio.Mi rovesciano addosso cattiveriae con ira mi aggrediscono.	4 the same are darts.
5 Dentro di me si stringe il mio cuore,piombano su di me terrori di morte.	5 be attentive to me and hear me. I am grieved in my exercise; and am troubled,
6 Mi invadono timore e tremoree mi ricopre lo sgomento.	6 at the voice of the enemy, and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have cast iniquities upon me: and in wrath they were troublesome to me.
7 Dico: «Chi mi darà ali come di colombaper volare e trovare riposo?	7 My heart is troubled within me: and the fear of death is fallen upon me.
8 Ecco, errando, fuggirei lontano,abiterei nel deserto.	8 Fear and trembling are come upon me: and darkness hath covered me.
9 In fretta raggiungerei un riparodalla furia del vento, dalla bufera».	9 And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, and I will fly and be at rest?
10 Disperdili, Signore, confondi le loro lingue.Ho visto nella città violenza e discordia:	10 Lo, I have gone far off flying away; and I abode in the wilderness.
11 giorno e notte fanno la ronda sulle sue mura;in mezzo ad essa cattiveria e dolore,	11 I waited for him that hath saved me from pusillanimity of spirit, and a storm.
12 in mezzo ad essa insidia,e non cessano nelle sue piazze sopruso e inganno.	12 Cast down, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.
13 Se mi avesse insultato un nemico,l’avrei sopportato;se fosse insorto contro di me un avversario,da lui mi sarei nascosto.	13 Day and night shall iniquity surround it upon its walls: and in the midst thereof are labour,
14 Ma tu, mio compagno,mio intimo amico,	14 and injustice. And usury and deceit have not departed from its streets.
15 legato a me da dolce confidenza!Camminavamo concordi verso la casa di Dio.	15 For if my enemy had reviled me, I would verily have borne with it. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
16 Li sorprenda improvvisa la morte,scendano vivi negli inferi,perché il male è nelle loro case e nel loro cuore.	16 But thou a man of one mind, my guide, and my familiar,
17 Io invoco Dioe il Signore mi salva.	17 Who didst take sweetmeats together with me: in the house of God we walked with consent.
18 Di sera, al mattino, a mezzogiornovivo nell’ansia e sospiro,ma egli ascolta la mia voce;	18 Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into hell. For there is wickedness in their dwellings: in the midst of them.
19 in pace riscatta la mia vitada quelli che mi combattono:sono tanti i miei avversari.	19 But I have cried to God: and the Lord will save me.
20 Dio ascolterà e li umilierà,egli che domina da sempre;essi non cambiano e non temono Dio.	20 Evening and morning, and at noon I will speak and declare: and he shall hear my voice.
21 Ognuno ha steso la mano contro i suoi amici,violando i suoi patti.	21 He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: for among many they were with me.
22 Più untuosa del burro è la sua bocca,ma nel cuore ha la guerra;più fluide dell’olio le sue parole,ma sono pugnali sguainati.	22 God shall hear, and the Eternal shall humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God:
23 Affida al Signore il tuo pesoed egli ti sosterrà,mai permetterà che il giusto vacilli.	23 he hath stretched forth his hand to repay. They have defiled his covenant,
24 Tu, o Dio, li sprofonderai nella fossa profonda,questi uomini sanguinari e fraudolenti:essi non giungeranno alla metà dei loro giorni.Ma io, Signore, in te confido.	24 they are divided by the wrath Of his countenance, and his heart hath drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and
	25 Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall not suffer the just to waver for ever.
