Siracide 15

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 - Chi teme il Signore farà il bene, e chi osserva la giustizia raggiungerà la sapienza.	1 He who fears the LORD will do this; he who is practiced in the law will come to wisdom.
2 Ella gli si farà incontro come madre venerata, e come vergine sposa raccoglierà.	2 Motherlike she will meet him, like a young bride she will embrace him,
3 Lo nutrirà col pane della vita e dell'intelligenza, e con acqua di salutare sapienza, gli darà da bere. E si raffermerà in lui, ed ei non piegherà,	3 Nourish him with the bread of understanding, and give him the water of learning to drink.
4 e lo sosterrà e non sarà confuso. E l'esalterà tra i suoi simili,	4 He will lean upon her and not fall, he will trust in her and not be put to shame.
5 e nel mezzo dell'adunanza aprirà la bocca di lui. E lo riempirà dello spirito di sapienza e d'intelligenza, e col manto della gloria lo rivestirà.	5 She will exalt him above his fellows; in the assembly she will make him eloquent.
6 Gioia e allegrezza accumulerà su lui, e un nome imperituro gli darà in retaggio.	6 Joy and gladness he will find, an everlasting name inherit.
7 Gli stolti non lo raggiungeranno, e gli assennati l'incontreranno. Gli stolti non la vedranno, perchè lontana ella sta dalla superbia e dalla frode.	7 Worthless men will not attain to her, haughty men will not behold her.
8 I bugiardi non si ricorderanno di lei, e gli uomini sinceri si troveranno con essa, e prospereranno sino alla visita di Dio.	8 Far from the impious is she, not to be spoken of by liars.
9 Non è bella la lode in bocca del peccatore,	9 Unseemly is praise on a sinner's lips, for it is not accorded to him by God.
10 perchè da Dio è venuta la sapienza. Alla sapienza invero s'accompagnerà la lode di Dio, e abbonderà sulla bocca del fedele, e il Signore gliela ispirerà.	10 But praise is offered by the wise man's tongue; its rightful steward will proclaim it.
11 Non dire: «Per causa del Signore [la sapienza mi] mancai, perchè ciò ch'egli odia, tu non devi fare.	11 Say not: "It was God's doing that I fell away"; for what he hates he does not do.
12 Non dire: «È lui che m'ha sedotto», perch'egli non ha bisogno di uomini empi.	12 Say not: "It was he who set me astray"; for he has no need of wicked man.
13 Ogni abominazione l'odia il Signore, e non sarà amata da quei che lo temono.	13 Abominable wickedness the LORD hates, he does not let it befall those who fear him.
14 Iddio da principio creò l'uomo, e lo lasciò in mano del suo arbitrio.	14 When God, in the beginning, created man, he made him subject to his own free choice.
15 Aggiunse [però] i suoi comandamenti e i suoi precetti,	15 If you choose you can keep the commandments; it is loyalty to do his will.
16 Se tu vorrai, osserverai i suoi comandamenti, e il serbar fedeltà dipende dal tuo beneplacito.	16 There are set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.
17 Ti ha messo davanti l'acqua e il fuoco: a quel che tu vuoi, stendi la mano.	17 Before man are life and death, whichever he chooses shall be given him.
18 Di faccia all'uomo son la vita e la morte, il bene e il male: ciò che gli piacerà, gli sarà dato.	18 Immense is the wisdom of the LORD; he is mighty in power, and all-seeing.
19 Perchè grande è la sapienza del Signore, e forte egli è nella sua potenza e tutto vede.	19 The eyes of God see all he has made; he understands man's every deed.
20 Gli occhi del Signore son [rivolti] a coloro che lo temono, ed egli conosce ogni opera dell'uomo.	20 No man does he command to sin, to none does he give strength for lies.
21 A nessuno ha comandato d'agire da empio, e a nessuno ha dato licenza di peccare.
22 Non desidera infatti una turba di figliuoli infedeli e inutili.
