1 A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all his anxious care;	1 Canto delle ascensioni. Ricòrdati, o Signore, di Davide e di tutte le sue fatiche,
2 How he swore an oath to the LORD, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:	2 come egli giurò al Signore, fece voto al Potente di Giacobbe:
3 "I will not enter the house where I live, nor lie on the couch where I sleep;	3 "Non entrerò nella tenda della mia casa, non salirò sul letto del mio riposo,
4 I will give my eyes no sleep, my eyelids no rest,	4 non concederò sonno ai miei occhi, né riposo alle mie palpebre,
5 Till I find a home for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."	5 finché non trovi una sede per il Signore, una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe".
6 "We have heard of it in Ephrathah; we have found it in the fields of Jaar.	6 Ecco, ne abbiamo sentito parlare in E'frata; l'abbiamo trovata nei campi di Iàar.
7 Let us enter God's dwelling; let us worship at God's footstool."	7 Andiamo alla sua dimora, prostriamoci allo sgabello dei suoi piedi!
8 "Arise, LORD, come to your resting place, you and your majestic ark.	8 Sorgi, Signore, verso il tuo riposo, tu e l'arca della tua potenza.
9 Your priests will be clothed with justice; your faithful will shout for joy."	9 I tuoi sacerdoti si vestano di giustizia, i tuoi fedeli gridino di gioia.
10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed.	10 Per amore di Davide tuo servo, non respingere il volto del tuo consacrato.
11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a pledge never to be broken: "Your own offspring I will set upon your throne.	11 Il Signore giurò a Davide una promessa da cui non tornerà indietro: "Il frutto del tuo seno porrò sul tuo trono.
12 If your sons observe my covenant, the laws I shall teach them, Their sons, in turn, shall sit forever on your throne."	12 Se i tuoi figli custodiranno il mio patto e i miei precetti che a loro impartirò, anche i loro figli, di età in età, siederanno sul tuo trono".
13 Yes, the LORD has chosen Zion, desired it for a dwelling:	13 Sì, il Signore ha scelto Sion, l'ha voluta per sua dimora:
14 "This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I desire it.	14 "Qui sarà il mio riposo per sempre, qui siederò, poiché l'ho voluto.
15 I will bless Zion with meat; its poor I will fill with bread.	15 Benedirò largamente le sue provviste, sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.
16 I will clothe its priests with blessing; its faithful shall shout for joy.	16 Rivestirò di salvezza i suoi sacerdoti; esulteranno di gioia i suoi fedeli.
17 There I will make a horn sprout for David's line; I will set a lamp for my anointed.	17 Là farò germinare per Davide una potenza; preparerò una lampada per il mio consacrato.
18 His foes I will clothe with shame, but on him my crown shall gleam."	18 Rivestirò d'ignominia i suoi nemici, mentre su di lui fiorirà il suo diadema".
