1 Der erste Bund hatte gottesdienstliche Vorschriften und ein irdisches Heiligtum.	1 Now even the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary.
2 Es wurde nämlich ein erstes Zelt errichtet, in dem sich der Leuchter, der Tisch und die heiligen Brote befanden; dieses Zelt wurde das Heilige genannt.	2 For a tent was prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence; it is called the Holy Place.
3 Hinter dem zweiten Vorhang aber war ein Zelt, das sogenannte Allerheiligste,	3 Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy of Holies,
4 mit dem goldenen Rauchopferaltar und der ganz mit Gold überzogenen Bundeslade; darin waren ein goldener Krug mit dem Manna, der Stab Aarons, der Triebe angesetzt hatte, und die Bundestafeln;	4 having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, which contained a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5 über ihr waren die Kerubim der Herrlichkeit, die die Sühneplatte überschatteten. Doch es ist nicht möglich, darüber jetzt im Einzelnen zu reden.	5 above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
6 So also ist das alles aufgebaut. In das erste Zelt gehen die Priester das ganze Jahr hinein, um die heiligen Dienste zu verrichten.	6 These preparations having thus been made, the priests go continually into the outer tent, performing their ritual duties;
7 In das zweite Zelt aber geht nur einmal im Jahr der Hohepriester allein hinein, und zwar mit dem Blut, das er für sich und für die Vergehen des Volkes darbringt.	7 but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people.
8 Dadurch deutet der Heilige Geist an, dass der Weg in das Heiligtum noch nicht sichtbar geworden ist, solange das erste Zelt Bestand hat.	8 By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the sanctuary is not yet opened as long as the outer tent is still standing
9 Das ist ein Sinnbild, das auf die gegenwärtige Zeit hinweist; denn es werden Gaben und Opfer dargebracht, die das Gewissen des Opfernden nicht zur Vollkommenheit führen können;	9 (which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper,
10 es handelt sich nur um Speisen und Getränke und allerlei Waschungen, äußerliche Vorschriften, die bis zu der Zeit einer besseren Ordnung auferlegt worden sind.	10 but deal only with food and drink and various ablutions, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.
11 Christus aber ist gekommen als Hoherpriester der künftigen Güter; und durch das erhabenere und vollkommenere Zelt, das nicht von Menschenhand gemacht, das heißt nicht von dieser Welt ist,	11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation)
12 ist er ein für allemal in das Heiligtum hineingegangen, nicht mit dem Blut von Böcken und jungen Stieren, sondern mit seinem eigenen Blut, und so hat er eine ewige Erlösung bewirkt.	12 he entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
13 Denn wenn schon das Blut von Böcken und Stieren und die Asche einer Kuh die Unreinen, die damit besprengt werden, so heiligt, dass sie leiblich rein werden,	13 For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh,
14 wie viel mehr wird das Blut Christi, der sich selbst kraft ewigen Geistes Gott als makelloses Opfer dargebracht hat, unser Gewissen von toten Werken reinigen, damit wir dem lebendigen Gott dienen.	14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
15 Und darum ist er der Mittler eines neuen Bundes; sein Tod hat die Erlösung von den im ersten Bund begangenen Übertretungen bewirkt, damit die Berufenen das verheißene ewige Erbe erhalten.	15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.
16 Wo nämlich ein Testament vorliegt, muss der Tod des Erblassers nachgewiesen werden;	16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established.
17 denn ein Testament wird erst im Todesfall rechtskräftig und gilt nicht, solange der Erblasser noch lebt.	17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.
18 Daher ist auch der erste Bund mit Blut in Kraft gesetzt worden.	18 Hence even the first covenant was not ratified without blood.
19 Nachdem Mose jedes Gebot dem Gesetz gemäß dem ganzen Volk vorgelesen hatte, nahm er das Blut der jungen Stiere und der Böcke, dazu Wasser, rote Wolle und Ysop, besprengte das Buch selbst und das ganze Volk	19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20 und sagte: Das ist das Blut des Bundes, den Gott für euch eingesetzt hat.	20 saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you."
21 Dann besprengte er auch das Zelt und alle gottesdienstlichen Geräte auf gleiche Weise mit dem Blut.	21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.
22 Fast alles wird nach dem Gesetz mit Blut gereinigt, und ohne dass Blut vergossen wird, gibt es keine Vergebung.	22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
23 Durch solche Mittel müssen also die Abbilder der himmlischen Dinge gereinigt werden; die himmlischen Dinge selbst aber erfordern wirksamere Opfer.	23 Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 Denn Christus ist nicht in ein von Menschenhand errichtetes Heiligtum hineingegangen, in ein Abbild des wirklichen, sondern in den Himmel selbst, um jetzt für uns vor Gottes Angesicht zu erscheinen;	24 For Christ has entered, not into a sanctuary made with hands, a copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
25 auch nicht, um sich selbst viele Male zu opfern, (denn er ist nicht) wie der Hohepriester, der jedes Jahr mit fremdem Blut in das Heiligtum hineingeht;	25 Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the Holy Place yearly with blood not his own;
26 sonst hätte er viele Male seit der Erschaffung der Welt leiden müssen. Jetzt aber ist er am Ende der Zeiten ein einziges Mal erschienen, um durch sein Opfer die Sünde zu tilgen.	26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 Und wie es dem Menschen bestimmt ist, ein einziges Mal zu sterben, worauf dann das Gericht folgt,	27 And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment,
28 so wurde auch Christus ein einziges Mal geopfert, um die Sünden vieler hinwegzunehmen; beim zweiten Mal wird er nicht wegen der Sünde erscheinen, sondern um die zu retten, die ihn erwarten.	28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
